    Justin, you inspire me every day as you fight through your battle with rheumatoid disease. I’ve battled RA for over 30 years. I was medically retired & on a visit to see our daughters out East, we fell in love with Kentucky. Within the year we purchased a 5.3 acre mini farm, living in a 600sqft easy to clean barnapartment.
    Our youngest daughters family wanted to build on the property & make a working homestead. I haven’t felt this great gardening, taking care of my hens, increasing the laying numbers.

    My uncle used a large area that was steepish with a few patches of flat for his milk goats. Was heavily wooded, he would even put his turkeys in when the weather was good for it. His property was similar to yours. He built them a run /house to live in and off of the run would move his fencing to always keep their area fresh.

    Hello there, no idea why nobody has mentioned that your cow is holding up :). Some cows share really well, but most do not and they can control their let down which means calf gets milk but we get little and almost no cream. Your girl is not happy and I can see her udder is still firm - she ain't giving you milk. Her calf is not eating it all, she is not letting down for you. If you need more milk or cream , keep calf away for 6 ish hours and use him to let down and then milk when cow let's down
    I've been milking cows for 22 years and the controlled key down is always incredible... some cows let down some quarters for me and not others. My husband milked one day and said cow was empty and I brought calf out and whoosh another 3 gallons and cream:)

    I wonder if the buck just doesn't understand that the does are in his pen? Since they're right next door, and they can always touch and see each other. I wonder if you block their view of each other for a couple days, if that may entice him to try and do his thing when he does see them again? I've never had an issue with a buck never even trying, but my does and bucks are always further apart and can't touch each other through their pens. Might be worth a try.

  • @staceygresbach8695
    @staceygresbach8695 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How old is your buck? He should want to breed the does pretty quick when he is exposed to them. We raise meat rabbits and I usually leave my buck in until he has at least 2 fall offs. It sometimes takes about 20 min or so. The buck will get VERY tired, so I try to only breed them for a half hour and then give them a break. It's important to know the date they were bred so you know exactly when to put in the nest box. Do you have a local 4H group with a rabbit project you can contact for some mentoring for Lilly? Rabbits are a wonderful way to start kids on learning all about genetics and breeding and it's always good to have a mentor to teach you!! Don't give up - baby rabbits (kits) are the cutest and rabbit meat is so delish and so good for you!!

    When breeding rabbits, especially virgins, you might need to actually put the buck on the doe like he’ll be mounting her. Also, if they are too comfortable, the breeding instinct won’t kick in. Car rides seem to work well for us. Finally, they might still be immature and not ready. Keep trying and they’ll get it figured out. One last thing, if you want to control breeding (not have random unintended breedings), you’ll want some fine wire in between the buck and the does. Believe it or not, a motivated buck can breed a doe through ½” hardware cloth. His penis will be surprisingly long.

    You have plenty of area for hogs/pigs. You can put on slopes as long as you move them quickly, or erosion will happen. Old hay in areas will help grass grow thicker and faster. Good Luck🙂

    Those rabbits need also a more natural keeping. Put the cage on some Grass . Make something like a movable chicken coop with some weather protection an an section where the could hide. They must be also very bored in that cage.
