I tend to go a little fast because I figure you can just rewind it. But I agree I could slow down a bit in some parts. XLM is the same process, and you generally only need the memo when sending to exchanges. Think of it like another "address" where you copy paste it in

    I really want to ask why USD being send to Ether account ? I don't have deep knowledge about, so quick one about it. other tutorial state that if the current is different to account currency we are sending the crypto too - the money is lost. I am very confused why you send USD to Ether wallet ?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I sent USDC, the "USD Coin" token running on Ethereum (ETH), not USD, the US dollar. Other tutorials are likely referring to a crypto interest platform where they sometimes have different ETH addresses for each asset. If you are using the tokens on the ETH blockchain directly (like I show in the video) you can send them all to the same address

According to the ledger pop up, taproot is the fastest and cheapest, then native segwit, segwit and legacy. Being native segwit the “best overall”. Which one should I use if I am transferring from Coinbase and do I need to keep the ledger connected to the computer while the transaction is in process or it is just to generate the address in the desktop? Thanks

You're transferring crypto over the blockchain, which is a publicly run system (not internal like moving money from your bank's checking to savings account). In order to compensate people running the network, they're incentivized with a fee on each transaction - think of it like how we're taxed on every day things to help keep our government running. Hope that helps!

    Hello Adam,
    I sent 1.0 ETH from coinbase to my ledger S on september 1st 2022. It cleared from coinbase and still not showing up on my ledger to this day 9/11/22. I've been using coinbase and ledger since 2017 and never had this problem until the polygon intergration with coinbase .
    Now my ETH is wETH on polygon network scan and i'm not sure how to send it to my ledger. I'm sure other people have the same issues. Would you be kind enough to make a video solving this issue? i'm sure i'm not the only one LOL

    • @adamventure

      Sounds like you chose to withdraw ETH on the Polygon network instead of the ETH network (probably because it has lower fees). You can just send it back to Coinbase on the Polygon network, then send it to the ETH address on your Ledger on the ETH network

    If shiba will have its own blockchain in the near future and I still have my SHIB tokens on ledger being ERC20 based on ETH, will I lose them or will it not be an issue?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If SHIB is moves off the ETH network, there will likely be a bridge to manually move your SHIB tokens onto the new network. If you do nothing, they will probably stay on ETH and you wont lose them

    How come you consider 5$ transfer fee acceptable for transaction of 1USD?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I talked about that in the pinned comment: "Getting a lot of questions about the network fees: yeah it seems bad, but it's actually a flat fee. So I could have sent $1 or $1,000,000 and it would have cost the same $3 or $5."

      @ashley1400 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamventure I have a different question about fees. I thought every single time I move cryto out of an exchange to a cold wallet, I would need to pay gas fees and /or a percentage of whatever I am sending. So are you saying it will just be about $5 no matter how much I take off of an exchange and put in a cold wallet such as Ledger?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashley1400 some exchanges charge less in fees like FTX covers half, and the network fees themselves can vary a lot ($3 vs $5 in a ~20 minute span as you saw in the video). But generally yes that's correct

All of my ETH was able to go through, including what I bought earlier today, and most of my btc went through, but it seems like what i bought today isn't available to send yet. I just bought a nano s plus. I know I can add as much crypto as I want to this and daily if I wanted to but I was told I should only withdrawal one time from a cold wallet back onto an exchange to sell and then the cold wallet could be potentially compromised and should never be used again. Is this true?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope you're still safe, that will not compromise your wallet and you can move funds in and out as you like. Whoever told you that was maybe thinking of staying anonymous with an address, but if you're sending crypto to your Ledger from an exchange that would link that address anyway

    Hi Adam
    I have a question. I have some losses in ADA in Coinbase. If I want to transfer my entire ADA crypto to Ledger Nano X. What will happen to my losses? Is it the same thing as if you sell crypto with losses? Thanks

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you mean the USD/fiat value went down, then nothing will happen, and transferring does not incur a sale (or a taxable event). 1 ADA = 1 ADA no matter what its USD/fiat price is, so I would look at it that way

    Do you actually need your nano ledger to receive crypto? In other words say I’m at work… and I don’t have my ledger… but I know the address for which crypto I want to receive on my ledger.. do I physically need to have my ledger in order to receive crypto from someone or an exchange

    • @adamventure
