The audacity of Sammy calling anyone a rat is mind boggling. 30 made men, mostly bosses went to prison for life thanks to Sammys big mouth. He literally sank the entire Mafia ship and here he is calling Michael a rat. That is hypocrisy on a whole other level.

Show us a tape and timestamp where john says, I want Sammy killed or, I want a hit put out on sammy or, im going to set Sammy up to take the fall for the prior hits I spoke about when my office was bugged. I like sammy, im subscribed to him like I am to Michael. I won't just take the word of someone that something was said or happened over facts. Sorry. I remember once, my mom, I, and my brother, ate at this Italian restaurant when we were just kids, I was 10, my brother was 5, and I saw a middle aged man with a feather in his hat, like those 1920's hats. There are things that they BOTH know that we don't know. Sammy was a boss... He has insight into when Micheal was made... He KNOWS what Micheal did or didn't do.. If Micheal had ever hit anyone it would have been known by the the bosses. I honestly feel like Sammy is jealous of Michael. First of all, Michael, unlike Sammy, didn't join the witness protection program. Hence, some things, if he admits them, can still get him interrogated and punished. Secondly, the fact Sammy wears his murders as a badge of honour shows he's a pretty low individual. And finally... Remember when Michael talked about those "Don't you know who I am?" kind of guys? Sammy is one of those guys. I like listening to Sammy's stories, I really do. I've had a temper issue at work in my old age and I use Michael as a role model on how to keep my composure. Knowing you can eat people, and people knowing you can eat them, is a powerful feeling. Anyone that cannot see that Sammy was justified to do what he did has never been betrayed on a deep level. John Gotti was single-handedly responsible for sending cosa Nostra into a downward spiral. Everything Sammy told was gospel. John was demanding people take the fall for a case that was ALL him. All of those tapes were hours upon hours of an egotistical, psychotic man who really should have never been the boss. If Frankie DeCicco never got clipped they would have probably got rid of John themselves eventually. Sammy the Bull was put in a position where he was staring down the barrel of a gun that he never saw coming. He wasn’t on one of those tapes at the BH and Fish club. It was an embarrassment. Franzese is just so many levels above Gravano in everything, intelligence, behaviour, articulate etc. They are no doubt both streetsmart since still alive but one is clearly more sophisticated than the other!

Franzese has a successful step father and only made money because the Russians approached him with the gas scam because of his name. He was good but mainly benefited off his name. To get made you have to make your bones and he was allegedly a getaway driver for a murder. Never got his hands dirty. He is intelligent and sly but never really earned anything on his own.

Sammy is an out and out street guy. He had to be this way to get any respect, it’s a tough life. To be as feared as he was in their life you had to do extreme acts of violence. But he was also a business man as well, this man owned all construction in Newyork and numerous other legit businesses plus illegal ones too. He was a huge earner and killer and that’s two traits you want in their life. Michael is intelligent and charismatic and the truth is he got made only because of his father. He didn’t earn respect on the street like sammy but he was a business guy and earned respect that way, he was a top earner so in other words he was untouchable. It’s two separate worlds but in the same mafia universe.

After watching Mafia states of America: It’s sad to see that after all these years Sammy is still brainwashed by the mafia mentality and has no remorse for the crimes he committed. Michael on the other hand clearly has a conscience. I finally got around to finishing watching all 10 episodes. I'm not ashamed to say that the last 15 minutes of the final episode put a lump in my throat; what a beautiful way to end it.

Sammy is an out and out street guy. He had to be this way to get any respect, it’s a tough life. To be as feared as he was in their life you had to do extreme acts of violence. But he was also a business man as well, this man owned all construction in Newyork and numerous other legit businesses plus illegal ones too. He was a huge earner and killer and that’s two traits you want in their life. Michael is intelligent and charismatic and the truth is he got made only because of his father. He didn’t earn respect on the street like sammy but he was a business guy and earned respect that way, he was a top earner so in other words he was untouchable. It’s two separate worlds but in the same mafia universe.

It’s obvious in this episode to see that Michael’s intellectual capability far outweighs Sammy’s. That said, it’s also clear that Sammy envies Michael’s success as a former Caporegime and the extent at which he made an actual valuable contribution to the family from a financial prospective. That said, Michael fails to realize the extent of the benefits and advantages he received ‘given who his father was’.
