I was told a story about a young 7th grader who was positioned in Germany while the Russians invaded. He had a bazooka and was told to shoot the tanks (key moment, he had only one shot). He saw one tank and aimed, ready to fire. But then, he saw another one. Then another one. His friend beside him (who also had a bazooka) got shot by one of the tanks. Then, the kid sat there and cried. He kept crying and crying. Weeping and weeping. Then he felt some sharp poking. He looked and it was a Russian soldier. He picked him up and gave to another soldier who brought him to a prison camp. He stayed there for, I think 5 years. But, he survived and eventually got out of the camp. He was cared for by the elders while imprisoned. Saying that they were old and to pass. That’s the story.
True both my grandfathers were very young teenagers for The German army back during world war 2 they didn’t want to be apart of it but they had to they were both very young; one manged to get out of it by getting shot in the shoulder; both managed to survive to getting married; one became a farmer the other had to run away from the Cold War to Australia losing contact with his 1st wife and remarried my grandma and had my uncle, my dad and my aunts; my mum’s dad didn’t live long from what she tells me he died pretty young the war left a lot damage to him; My mum always teach me that we have to learn about what happened so we don’t let horrible stuff that went on in the past happen again
