      Thank you! I'm afraid once I get La Junta yard built, ops for fun will start eating into construction time!

    Great to see updates and progress, I wish I could’ve documented my fathers build from the early stages. Keep ‘em coming buddy😊

    I made mention on someone's layout about the unsightly wood screws used on their fascia not long ago. I tried to be tactful in my comment, but it was clear that the builder of that layout, while doing some nice modeling, simply phoned in the fascia. I suppose it's a pet peeve of mine. There are two things that can make or break even the best modeler's layout, IMHO. One is backdrop. If you're not an artist, don't paint a backdrop. A plain blue backround looks better than a poorly painted backdrop. The other is fascia. Layouts are for running trains and having fun, but they are also furniture in your basement. What you are doing with your layouts fascia is well thought out and nicely presented. Looking forward to your progress.

      Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. I am looking forward to adding proper backdrops for the middle level once the upper level is in place. The blue wall is ok for now, but the wall itself is inconsistent because I didn't want to waste the time or materials for a consistent wall when I was going to add hardboard in front of it anyway. Now that I am running a few trains though, it's starting to annoy me. I'm with you on painted backdrops. Mine will be this same blue color until I can add photo realistic backdrops. They just look too good not to use.

    Great progress, I did the same with the train plan, printed it out to let me know where I was 😊

    Building helix's if fun to do, and so many diffferent ways to construct them. Your method would be a lot easier than using all threaded rods and adjusting the heights. Looking good !

      I have been curious about that. Or the method of cutting all the helix pieces with straight edges?

    The town at the Kansas/Colorado state-line is named Kanorado. Western Kansas has Sunflower Processing Plants. Making sunflower oil and sunflower seeds and I think bird seed ingredients, too?

    Other than the Royal Gorge route that you can't see from Highway 50, I got video of most of the railroad tracks west of where the tracks come back out of the canyon on Highway 50 to Salida,CO. I also have video of the old Denver & Rio Grande line along highway 160 from Del Norte to South Fork,CO. I also have video footage of Western Kansas and Kyle Railroad at Phillipsburg, KS. Even got some of the yards at North Wichita where the old grain elevator is that they are currently destroying.

      Cool. I look forward to traversing the entire route soon so I can get some still photos of the locations I am modeling for both site and background references for the layout. Google Earth has been helpful, but obviously doesn't cover all the necessary angles and you can't print "street view" shots.

    End of the peninsula, build that concrete plant southeast of Pueblo! You also have the steel mill just south of Pueblo?

    • @KandWRailroader
      @KandWRailroader  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely building the Portland Cement plant...the steel mill is out, can't find any of the Walther's kits. It's okay though, I found several smaller industries located right around the Pueblo yard that will do just fine.
