This makes so much sense. I have an oval face shape so as per most style gurus, a middle part *should* suit me. But i realize that a middle part where i have my hair loose and falling over my face makes me look like am hiding...and not in a flattering way 😅 strangely, it also drags my face down (i.e. as if my face is narrower and longer than it actually is). Alternatively, if i do a middle part with a low ponytail or even just tuck the loose hair behind my ears, my face looks a lot more proportionate. I think that is because the "outline" of my face is naturally quite balanced, and obscuring that outline just offsets that in a non-flattering way.
In practice, my natural part is slightly off-centre rather than dead in the middle, and i think this looks best on me (as opposed to a dead centre parting which gives a more severe look).

I agree with the slightly off middle part! I think it looks natural and even though it may seem like such a small thing it makes a difference!

This is why I also have bangs. Long face and long nose gal here! I like my long nose I tell myself it's elegant like Audrey Hepburn 😂😉

Generally if the length of the head from the cranial top to the chin is longer than about 1.6x the width of your face the face is considered long, but there are so many other factors that you need to consider as well, like your horizontal proportions, cranial top height, etc.!

What if I have both? a long face and a large forehead, will it be better if I avoid it?

It would really depend on the rest of your face and features, but bangs is an option that can shorten the face and cover the large forehead :)

Honestly depends on the rest of your face! But bangs is one consideration :)

To each their opinion for sure! I think that whether something looks good/bad is a subjective decision - what I was trying to point out from an objective standpoint is the proportional aspect that smaller foreheads look smaller with a style that covers their forehead even more. Whether you decide which look you like better is completely your choice :)

The middle part with the hair covering her temples and brow tails looks literally like a ridiculous wig positioned too low🤦🏻‍♀️. Does the hairstylist who did it hate her?🤷🏻‍♀️😰

@@stylemejenn I have Hailey' s proportions but waaaay more exagerated (spanish actress Maribel Verdu + meth + anime sized eyes = me😂). A hairstylist did this to me once and when I saw myself on the mirror, these words came out straight from my entrails. It' s become a running gag (and a whatsapp sticker🤦🏻‍♀️) since then.
