Nice review and have always loved this particular 5. Whoever designed it must understand the rules of the golden ratio! Because when I look at it, that is exactly what I see. Would have this over a Rolex any day of the wk! In fact I’m going to go look for one now.. ;))
Nice review! I'm in the market for buying my 1st mechanical watch and I'm considering the SNXS79 due to the sunburst dial and better lume it offers but the protruding case seems to be a deal breaker. Does the SNKL23 really live up to the hype or should I go with the former? 🤔
Both are great watches but with very unique characteristics. To me the SNKL23 can be a good everyday style watch as it's a strap monster. So you can be very playful with it. The SNXS79 seems a bit more robust, almost like a Rolex Datejust. One advantage in buying the SNKL is that if you sell it pre-owned, it'll sell easily because of its hype. So you can try it out and then sell it later if it doesn't work. But just follow your heart man! Ignore the hype 😉
@@watcheswithabdullah surprisingly, the SNKL23 can be easily bought for less than $100 on online shops from where I'm from, so reselling it wouldn't exactly bode well for me 😅 but I'll def follow my heart and try the SNXS79! Most genuine and honest advice I've ever gotten from a watch reviewer! Hopefully you continue doing reviews on budget friendly watches so I'll know which ones to consider. You just earned yourself a subscriber 🙂 Much love from the 🇵🇭
The SNKL23 is gorgeous as Abdullah said. I have about 50 or 60 watches of all price tiers. Among them every SNXS in every dial color that was produced. Of all the watches that I have, if I were to keep only one watch, it would be the SNXS79 without a doubt in my mind. The grey sun burst dial, the markers and the lume are gorgeous. Not to mention that it’s probably the lightest and most comfortable watch to wear.
Can you please share the link to the strap?, I own this watch but I feel like bracelet it comes with is a little too distracting and makes the dial looks meh. With a brown leather strap you add a lot more depth and character and make the dial really pop.
The strap was given with the watch when I bought it. But you can check out many strap options online. Plenty of places selling quality straps at decent prices 😊
Again typical mistake. The design of the SNKL23 is a sports-style watch or a sports watch like the Rolex Explorer I or the Rolex Oyster Perpetual. An example of a dress watch is a Cartier Tank or an Omega Seamaster De Ville. If the watch does not match with a Tux, then it's not a dress watch.
For sure. This is the watch that got me looking at Seiko 5s due to all the hype but everytime I do a search I find more Seiko 5s with all kind of designs, equally or even more beautiful. Still, I got my son the SNKL23J1, he has a lot of good TH-cam reviews to go along with it that can boost his interest in horology.
Good review. The width between lugs is 18mm, not 17mm, as you stated in your review. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

the snkl23 is 38 mm and the snxs77 is 37 mm, or the case has the same diameter?
Great review! I might buy one this week.

What's your opinion, if someone is confused in buying between snkl23 and snxs79..
any stainless steel bands you recommend for this watch?

Hello, what is the difference between snkl23 and snkl23J1?
Reference with J are Made in Japan, whereas with K are made in other factories, including Malaysia. No noticeable difference in quality either way.
@@watcheswithabdullah thanks… it mend the are charging 20 to 30 dollars more for just “J” 😅
In J1 it says "Made in Japan" between 6 and 7 position and date is english/arabic (english/spanish k1).
Where's that brown leather strap from? Thanks!
It came with the watch when I bought it pre-owned that time. But it wasn't anything fancy ☺️
The watch is amazing broo but when put leather strap huge gape between the case
The snkl23 is a nice watch, but I have to believe that without Hodinkee attaching it’s name to this model, it would just be another Seiko 5
Agreed; SNKL45!
Also... TGV 😅

Try snkl45j... really classy watch and made in japan..
How do you wind this watch?
This watch doesn't have hand-wind feature. Since it's an automatic movement, you can start it by giving it a good shake
I think there are even more value Seiko 5s I think this one is actually one of the more basic ones
Definitely!
