    The Washburn N4 model designed by Nuno Bettencourt and Stephen Davies has enjoyed incredible success since its introduction nearly 25 years ago, in 1990.
    Unlike most signature model guitars, which appeal only to fans of that artist, the N4 has earned acceptance on its own terms as a great player’s ax. In fact, over the past decade or so, it’s likely that most guitarists that have bought an N4 don’t even know Nuno from their nana.
    While the new N4 Authentic is an exact replica of Bettencourt’s main N4 guitar, it’s certain to appeal as much to guitarists who want a stripped-down, high-performance instrument with a comfortable broken-in feel as it does to the most die-hard Extreme fan.

    Nuno I believe approves of the playing done here on his sig guit ! Boy this guitar takes me back to my teen years when it first came out. I believe it came out around the same time as EVH's sig Music Man.

    This guitar was reasonably priced back in the day, about $500 or so. It's got not one but 2 amazingly bright humbuckers which will add balls to your playing. The super jumbo frets and unusual look were the only reasons I didn't buy it (went with a Kramer instead). I now regret it some 25 years later.

    jesus christ, Paul has either been practicing his ass off, or was really good at hiding his skill back in the day in his first guitar world demo's.

    Bill Lawrence pups = win. Even with a "mis-matched" neck pup, always a unique tone. I got a Ultra XL500 in the bridge of my strat, w/ a standard Les Paul pup in the neck. Great tone, cheap price! This N4 guitar might make its way into my arsenal some day!

    Wouldn't using the D-Tuna on a full floating Floyd Rose change the tension on the trem, thus change the tuning on all the strings?

      Rifle Twist it's only relevant with guitars that have non-locking nuts. It doesn't matter here.

  • @Skibble5150
    @Skibble5150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have an N4 padauk and an N4 vintage.
    The vintage has the 2 large screws on the back where the floyd rose cover would go, in the middle of the recess, on either side.
    My padauk does not have these large screws.
    Does anyone know what these 2 screws are for?
    Why are they made differently?

    • @Djarra
      @Djarra 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bridge pickup.

    • @Skibble5150
      @Skibble5150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why is it only on the VINTAGE and not the PADAUK?

    • @Djarra
      @Djarra 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skibble5150 The vintage is basically the same as Nuno's which is a guitar he put together himself including switching to the Bill Lawrance pickup. The pickup doesn't fit a standard pickup ring, Nuno didn't have a BL one so reverse mounted it (I'm guessing here but this may have been inspired by the pickup mounting on the basses Gary Badger was using at the time) When they did the Padauk they used two Seymour pickups so use the normal ring. Some other models have the Lawrance pickup mounted to a ring rather than the reverse mount.

  • @GazMoz78

    Love it! But if the Floyd is floating, which it is, how does the guitar stay in tune when you drop the low E?

    • @Rain593
      @Rain593 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      All floating systems have a locking nut to keep tuning stable.

    • @GazMoz78
      @GazMoz78 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Rain593 yeah I know that, but the bridge floats in equilibrium when all the strings are in tune, alter the pitch of one string and you alter the tension across all 5 other strings.

      +Guitar Whores I don't know but i think that this device (d-tuna) in this particular guitar is a fake...because i understand that the D-tuna works if you block the pull action on the floyd rose and i don't saw any block sistem in that bridge did you?

    • @gagemoore1307
      @gagemoore1307 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      GPR73 The extended route for the d-tuna is so you can still use it and pull up on the trem. It’s not fake.

    • @JeremyTalaczynski
      @JeremyTalaczynski ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gagemoore1307 u cant use a d-tuna on a floating bridge, once u drop the low string all your others are gonna go sharp
