However, I really don’t think this kid should receive any hate for ignoring feedback. 8 is the youngest I’ve ever seen on the show and his worldview will expand with age and experience. I was wondering if it was just ME who was taken aback as to how overtly rude he was to Duff AND to Valerie. He was just not going to be told what to do. His only difference...I DO think he is on the spectrum. His decorum seems to lean that way. However, that does NOT give him a "pass" to act like a jerk. And he did just that.

The number of people armchair parenting a 7 year old based on a reality tv show edit during a stressful competition is too damn high. He’s a kid. He’s silly and immature and fun. You’re not required to like him but genuinely take a breath and think “is this gonna help the world” before joining the cacophony of voices calling him spoiled or rude or entitled. He’s acting like a kid. He’ll probably grow out of it but I’m sure many of the people insulting him won’t grow out of being spiteful
It seems like a lot of people actually hold higher standards of behavior, especially politeness, for kids than for adults. People are way quicker to slap the "rude" or "disrespectful" label on kids when no one would raise an eyebrow at an adult for doing the same. I don't know why.

Doubt that. Food Network is usually a very wholesome network when the show involves kids like MasterChef Jr. And I doubt that the parents or the kid would go along with this. Kids Baking Championship is not scripted. Catfish isn't scripted neither. Neither is Kitchen Nightmares or Fear Factor. Not all of reality TV is scripted
