I'm going to be really honest about this comment concerning the "Like, Dislike, Smiley." Emojis.
This is their channel, not yours. Wow! I never would've guessed!
      I'm baffled, are you?
Every channel has their own charm, goals, and desires. As well as a style all their own. I've seen some channels attempt to be a rip-off of another channel. I cannot say that this channel has ever done that. However, one thing I can't stand, is when people nitpick each other about the silliest little things. If out of their mouths, nothing but "GD" flowed, I'd say something. If it didn't get resolved, I'd unsubscribe. But I've never heard it. That is a serious problem. If you don't like God, nor do you believe in Him, that's your hellish prerogative. His last name isn't "Damn." But a silly like and smiley emoji? Come on.

There were other recurring Zelda characters in Link's Awakening, kind of. It introduced the owl and started the pattern of Marin and Tarin, which showed up again in some form or another in at least a few later games. OoT had Kaepora Gaebora in the role of owl guide, and Malon and Talon. TP had Malo and Talo. I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head. There's plenty of precedent for repeating characters in the series, so I don't think throwing in Dampe is that odd.

I believe the chamber dungeons is a test run. If it’s a big hit (which seems to be the case) then they want to do a whole separate LOZ dungeon maker game, like how the did with Mario Maker. That’s when they’ll probably make online dungeon sharing available. Please correct me if I’m wrong, I just remember reading about this prior to Link’s Awakening release.

    @mwatkins0590 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Dampe isn't the only recurring zelda character present, the owl is there too.
Also, you CAN play through the level on the same screen as you arrange it, you need to click on the center of the entrance room.
    The amiibo limitation is ugh.
Links Awakening is as good as you remember, you've just grown to hate the limitations of its console because of how much systems have improved.
I had really high expectations for this remake and I am pleasantly surprised with how much its met them. I could go on and on about how much I love it, but I'll say there are only a few things about it I can complain about:
    - Dampe's system has a lot more potential than they fleshed out. If they had made it so you could choose where chests and locked doors and enemies go, separate from the room placement, it would be amazing. I would really like to see it get more detailed like mario maker and be able to share levels online or with some serialization code.
    - While i like the smooth transition between most screens, certain areas require a loading screen, like entering a house. These loading screens seem oddly long.
-There's this odd blur at the bottom of the screen that is kind of annoying but can be ignored.
    - They slightly changed the ballad of the wind fish and I kind of like the original more. The original synth patch vs the voice, and instead of going to the highest pitch part, which was my favorite, they play it a few octaves lower, which is a little bit of a bummer. Its definitely not bad though, maybe I'm just too nostalgic.
Other than that, the game is damn near perfect. I love the convenient changes with the boots, shield, bracelet. I love the art style and most of the re-orchestration of the music. The dungeons are faithfully recreated, and the mechanics feel mostly the same (there is a new diagonal axis though for some things). They really captured all the great things in the original, while bandaging out the annoying parts. I will probably always play this over the old DX version except when I want to specifically feel how it was. The washed out colors of the old one give a certain vibe i might like to revisit now and then, but for a serious play-through, this is just straight up better. 10/10, nintendo. Thank you!
In regards to the length, I think its pretty good. I never found link to the past to be much longer. If you want to complain about a short game, play The Minish Cap. I loved every minute of that game, but there weren't many.
Also your video kind of spoils a couple of things, specifically with the trading sequence and being able to see someone you shouldn't.

I truly dislike when reviewers brand older titles with negative marks because of technological limitations or in game mechanics. The original title was a huge leap in the right direction. The gameboy only had 2 buttons. You can discredit it for mapping items the way they did. This was a time when tiger handhelds were the alternative. It isn't fair to say "it wasn't as good as I remember"... it was most games then had dedicated attacks without options.
Zelda wasn't perfect but it was first attempt at portability, that in mind it was a massive success.

There’s *one* other reason to revisit the CrainGame in the original: Marin gets to completely *TROLL* the guy.
    -
...sigh...no photo mouse. Guess that means those cutscenes are completely gone, too. It was less about printing photos, more about the silly shenanigans and occasionally viewing the photos when you felt like it
(And...I’ve honestly never been bothered by Item Swapping? But having various items be designated buttons now so Always Out? Yeah that’s nice. Finally a use for the shield vs dodging with the directional pad.)
    -
Also...the real reason why LA didn’t have “reoccuring characters” is...because their characters are the ones to reoccur in other games. Owl, Marin, and Tarin all return as (can’t ever spell his name) then reimagined as Malon and Talon (with Indigo entering the mix) in OoT. Tarin/Talon and Indigo are the Mario Bros-inspired, while Marin flatout looks like Zelda (and shares the same sprite in the Oracles) buuut...gets a seperate design in OoT/MM than OoT Zelda.
The Witch is also from LttP, so definitely reoccuring (then showing up again as Syrup in oracles (for a terrible MapleSyrup pun), and Irene’s Grandmother in LBW (which, Irene’s essentially Maple. Although neither show up...unless Crazy Tracy was supposed to be Grownup Maple? Idk.)

People complaining the games length are flawed in their thinking of the 60 dollar price. All the COD games have 5-7 hour long campaign modes. End of story. Not to mention that 11-13 hours for a gameboy game with a modern aesthetic? How do you NOT want to buy it; especially if you enjoyed the original gameboy version 25 years ago? I myself place links awakening up with BotW, OoT and Twilight princess as my favorites in the entire franchise. THAT'S how good this game is. To those who haven't played the original and want to play an excellent Zelda game, do yourself the favor of picking this one up if you can.

Just think about it that way, that you pay the same amount of money for different kind of games with different amount of content. If every game would cost as much as it has content, games like BOTW or Smash Ultimate would cost like 200€...what matters in the end, is if you have fun. And LA is definitely a great game (though I agree the 60$ aren't that nice).

Just not worth (what I thought was already too high £40 but is actually...) £50!
I will pick this up whenever it goes on sale.
If they remake the two Oracle games in the same package for this price I'd happily pay £50. But for this smaller, single game with only QOL improvements, a half-assed Chamber Dungeon and the removal of (one of my favourite things about the game) the photo shop I can't justify this price. No way.
But I really question the removal of the photo shop, especially in HD it would've been something to take advantage of the hardware. Why remove it? The Chamber Dungeon does not replace this as it doesn't fill the void that was left, and it literally could have been placed anywhere in the game. So I can't really even go for this remake on faithfulness alone.
Just a bitter-sweet remake for me. It is what it is, and what's there does seem well polished and entertaining, but that price is outrageous. I think it's exploiting fans since they're really the only people going to be buying this game; I'd imagine any newcommer would hear about the game's length and that'd be an immediate no from them. The visuals might win some new players over but not at full price.

Some people might find it hard to justify spending $60 on it, but imo a game should be judged based on its quality, not on its quantity. And this’s game looks to be an impressive and faithful reimagining of an amazing old game that they built from the ground up, gave an entirely distinct visual style and a beautiful instrumental soundtrack. So in that vein, at least for me, it’s well worth its price tag, especially if you’ve never played the OG game.
Of course, not everyone will feel the same, and I myself will be waiting ‘till Christmas to grab it simply due to how cramped Nintendo’s release schedule is for the Fall. So if the price is really the deciding factor in your purchase, then I’d recommend doing the same. Or if your b-day is before then, even better!

Agreed. Also a lot of people are gonna wait for a price drop for this game but First Party Nintendo games never drop in price Lowest I've seen them brand new is $50.

Great review! Now lets hope they remake Oracle of Ages and Seasons games too.

Hopefully Chamber Dungeons get an update where we can at least share dungeons via a code or something. Would make sense...

"Unlike certain other games in the series (Twilight Princess) you'll explore, get your sword and shield, and find your way to the first dungeon in a matter of minutes."
You take that shade right back and redirect it at Skyward Sword. Its tutorial is literally like 5 times longer than Twilight Princess's.

It'd be nice if just once Nintendo added a substantial amount of content to a remake/remaster, but it's been years, and we keep buying their remakes regardless of their quality, so nothing will change really.

This game looks gorgeous. I never got into BOTW though, is this more of open world game or just a story mode game play?
