The Sith Academy on Korriban was a facility in use during the Jedi Civil War and later the Cold War, dedicated to training Force-sensitives in the ways of the Sith, and running archaeological projects in the Valley of the Dark Lords.

Korriban's ambience is unlike any other planet...just something dark lurking below the surface

If you wanna get technical, all of the locations in KOTOR II are like that to some extent. Korriban, Nar Shaddaa, Onderon and Dxun, Telos, and even Dantooine.

@@mitchellhayward6492 You forgot Malachor. The funny thing about Korriban is though that its darkness is almost completely eroded by time multiple times but its significance in the history of the Sith always lures new ones to it to continue the cycle. Korriban gave birth to the Sith more than once.

@celnart3159 Malachor goes without saying. It's evil isn't lurking below the surface, it's up front where you can get a good, strong whiff of it. Besides, you go through most of the game hearing all about it before you even set foot on it.

@@mitchellhayward6492 True, we hear a lot from the atrocity that happened there all around the game, but I'd argue the Sith Academy that was hidden there and the nexus down below kind of constitute as even more evil hiding under its already profane surface of untold destruction.

Korriban belongs to the dead.... and the dead do not share their secrets without a price.

Tbh Kotor II was a bit of dissappointment. It gets so much praise for the story, but I don't see it. And I miss Jeremy Soule's music.
EDIT: Just now noticed there was a typo, and I didn't specify I meant KOTOR 2, was a dissappointment.

I think that the story for the first KOTOR is decent enough. Follows the standard fantasy trope and tries to borrow many elements from Star Wars (i.e. the "Chosen One", big reveal, Empire vs. "Rebels", etc.)... but KOTOR 2 is a masterpiece in the sense that it does something different as a deconstruction of Star Wars as a story. The primary person who wrote it (Chris Avellone) doesn't even like Star Wars. So he wrote KOTOR 2 to be the antithesis. Basically one giant critique with everything wrong with Star Wars (i.e. the insistence on destiny, the constant Jedi vs. Sith religious war with everyone else at their mercy, the problems with a hyper capitalist environment since you end up with corporations like Czerka). I love KOTOR 2 and I say this as a Star Wars fan because I can see what Chris was trying to critique.

@@-CrimsoN- The idea might be good but I go on what it made me feel
. Without knowing about Avellone or his intention (before what you just shared), I can only say it felt cynical and drab. I didn't identify with most characters. I wasn't emotionally invested.........I did like Darth Sion. Kreia got old fast...and it felt most of the story was coming through her.
I don't hold Kotor 1 as some great story at all though. But the characters had me engaged. as did the quests. I can't think of one of the party members I enjoyed in Kotor II. In Kotor 1 the interactions with them (apart from Bastilla and the other guy Carl something?) was interesting. And the star map quest felt meaningful enough along with the rakatan thing. I dunno.........Kotor II did nothing for me.

@@jeanlundi2141 That's fair. Yeah, you're talking about Carth (aka "I dont wanna talk about it" guy lol). Yeah, some people prefer the more positive approach of KOTOR. I mean, even the dark side ending of the first KOTOR ends on a positive note (at least for your character, maybe not the rest of the galaxy lol). KOTOR 2 feels depressing from the beginning to the end, but I do like the quests more in KOTOR 2. Especially if you're playing light side because the Republic is basically on the brink of collapse, so running around and solving problems feels more impactful. I have to say though, did you play KOTOR 2 with the restoration mod? It's basically mandatory otherwise the story won't feel like it makes any sense. The first KOTOR also has a restoration mod, but it doesn't restore that much. It's more of a supplement. But for example, the KOTOR 2 restoration mod restores cut crew dialogue. It also fixes the ending and features a scene where Atton talks with the player about what comes next after defeating Kreia. It also adds the HK-50 factory where HK-47 finally gets his revenge for those cheap knockoff versions of him that are running around trying to kill you lol

What made the kotor games good for me, was the expansion of the lore of Star Wars. How one can be influenced by the dark side, but choose it because it'll help the galaxy prepare for what is to come.
Or strive against basically the fundamental "law" of the galaxy, and challenge the narrative something greater than yourself is trying to push upon you and the galaxy. It may not free the rest of the world, but it'll free you, even if by a small amount.

I feel like Kreya is overrated, I wanted her out of my ship the way she was speaking, I felt like her dialogue was too centred around the exile rather than having her own proper beliefs and interests rather than just stressing her point about reducing your reliance on the force@@-CrimsoN-
