This was an important part of my childhood. Perhaps for the better. I didn't do drugs till I was in my late 20's, but this segment staved it off for a long while. Till, you know, life.
Tom Kenny ending up being a heralded children's entertainer shows how talented he is. He plays a drug addicted, psychotic clown in a film called Shakes the Clown.
Are ya ready, kids? Whooooooo lives in a microbus outside of town? High as the moon and might never come down. If psychedelic nonsense is something you dig. Know what's your limit, so that you don't wig. Thanks for the melting, Tom Kenny.
I saw Tom Kenny about 11 years ago when he was touring, talking about the (then new) SpongeBob Movie! It was fascinating! He talked about his history before SpongeBob, and how SpongeBob came to be! He also talked about this parody, and showed a clip from it! Afterwards, he gave out autographs, and I got one! He was autographing people's SpongeBob dolls, so naturally I brought mine. He thought it was cute that I had put my Disneyland Mickey Mouse ear hat on SpongeBob! He was very nice!
I remember watching these shows as a kid, I always figured this is how they came up with the ideas. Think about it, pretty colours outlandishly sized and attired charactors, twisty turny special effects, plots and dialogue guaranteed to trip you out. I enjoyed these shows anyway. 5 of 5 for putting into visual form, the truth. I wanna ride the Cannibus ^_^ far out....
Fast forward to 2022, there's signs in stores for instance that tell people how to stand in line or bold messages to wait for signal before approaching the sales counter.
FOR AN EXTRA FUN TRIP, well worth the effort: 1. Pause the video, mute the audio, and turn on the Closed Captions. 2. Find Pink Floyd's "Any Colour You Like" on TH-cam (using a separate tab or window). 3. Start the Drugachusettes video at 1:35 (when the credits appear) in sych with the start of the Floyd tune. 4. Like, totally enjoy dude!
Pizza is never not awesome. 🍕😋 lol loved this. loved Pufnstuf too. Thanks y'all. liked/subbed edit: just noticed this was 17 years old. 😲 oh well, still loved it. 🙂👍
They've insisted that it wasn't conceived on drugs, but it caught on with stoners who had been baked the night before. And Jack Wild received a lot of weird fan mail because of that.
It's kind of a hard claim. The show was called Pufnstuff, the show that followed it was called Lidsville (a "lid" being 60's slang for a portion of marijuana that can be packed into a flat tobacco tin). Jack Wilde, though only 14 was a notorious boozehound and later a rumored junkie.
Who's got the sketch where the average American family tours San Francisco? There's a lot dancing and silliness in that one too, and those Castro boys are hilarious.
Wait, the credits and the guy talking to his flute at 1:34 elicited laughter from the audience? Every tiny little thing makes the audience erupt in titters?
Parody is protected by the US Constitution. Do you really believe that these bizarre shows made in the height of the drug culture weren't at least INDIRECTLY influenced by drugs? By the way, LIDSville is a double entendre reference to both hats and drugs.
@Canaderek Did you do it yet??? Seriously man. I saw God the first time I did it. The second time, He saw me, but pretended He didn't... Puts that lame-ass Dark Side/Wizard of Oz jazz to shame.
Does anybody know of a skit that was uploaded here on TH-cam a while back? It was a spoof of Pufnstuf, but it took a VERY psychological approach and was incredibly dark. I honestly always felt it was a much better spoof of Pufnstuf then this MadTV skit.
The "HR Puffnstuff is on drugs" shtick was pretty old BEFORE this came along. Making this joke get tired pretty early on. Too obvious, making this as fresh a comedic idea as a ventriloquist drinking a glass of water while the dummy sings. Not saying it SUCKS, just that it isn't particularly clever or innovative.
The "Lost Episode" this came from is one of the most humor-packed tv shows ever made.
I declare this clip to be... AWESOME!
This is so fucking thorough, their attention to detail is nuts
Characters bobbing their heads to other character's lines and shit
“Remember kids, only take what you can handle and always know your dealer”
Eatin’ an orange? That was like takin’ a trip though a citrus mountain! ROFL 🤪
Perfect parodies don't exi-...
*Mr. Show: exists*
"Eatin' an orange? That was like takin' a trip through a citrus mountain."
*smug nod*
This is significantly less disturbing than the real HR Pufnstuf.
haha!!!
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
As mayor of TH-cam I hereby declare this sketch....AWESOME.

The best 5 minutes of television ever made.
"I'm havin' a hard time here, maaan!" I loved Mr Show. When it was funny it was really funny!

I've been every one of these people at one point or another... and loved every minute
Oh god that's Tom Kenny doing his Ice King voice as Doctor Ellis D. Trails. Years before Adventure Time.
after this he did spongebob, lol
paul mayernick Eerie! Lol!
And it also sounds like Patchy.
It's Charles Nelson Reilly from LIDSVILLE, the show being parodied.
@@TheMagicwhistle came here to say this lol

David Cross nailed the character, right down to the overly British accent.
The dancing is what killed me.
No, Tom Kenny nailed it !
LOL Prof. Ellis D. Trails is Spongebob.

Mr Show for President!
These two seem familiar.... 💛💙💜💚🧡❤
I have just seen the voice of SpongeBob talk about drugs.
My life is officially complete.

This is exactly what I've always said, Those guys were on serious drugs and let us kids experience an acid trip through THEIR eyes. LOL
Im gonna give him some b-12 and some orange slices..
"AAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!"

Hallucinojenny is a great name. :)
4:25 Modern kids' shows need practical messages like this.
I wish this thing was over!!
Fast forward to 2022, there's signs in stores for instance that tell people how to stand in line or bold messages to wait for signal before approaching the sales counter.
"I declarrr this piztha to be... AAAWESUME!!"
This is an edited version of this sketch, search TH-cam if you want to see the whole thing.
I had an Altered state of Drugachusetts t shirt
"Hi, hallucino-Jenny!"
I love how "David Crosby" and "Graham Nash" introduce the sketch...
Not "Grassachusetts"?
@4:00 You know things are bad when--HallucinaJenny--is the voice of reason.
Groovy. This is spot on
It's romantic!!!
Brilliant social commentary.
"Ellis D. Trail". "Canna-Bus". LMFAO
As a Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul fan, I love seeing Bob Odenkirk’s earlier comedy. He’s come a long way!
Mr. Show was just so full of win.
LOVED THIS!!
these clothes are so constricting!!

🙂👍
i love that dance
HR Puffnstuff was too wierd for me as a kid but this shit is spot on
By the way, I LOVE all the Krofft shows, and all the parodies of them! This one's a hoot! Thanks for posting it! Where did you get it?

@@rollinlikebuer9059 Well no wonder Marty Krofft regretted taking him in, especially with two daughters around.
More please
Best sketch......EVER
Who's got the sketch where the average American family tours San Francisco? There's a lot dancing and silliness in that one too, and those Castro boys are hilarious.
Sqiushy and the sea balloons was the prequel to spongebob
great advice!
Don't forget to breathe!
They'll knooow!
HR Puffnstuff,Lidsville,Buggaloos,Simund and the Sea Monsters....Yhea...Just like this!!
-pure
This is sketch is pretty old now. If what you're saying is true, who did it before them? (Sorry to reply to such an old comment.)
Strong Sponge Bob vibes during the intro.
He looks more like Squidward!
Wait, the credits and the guy talking to his flute at 1:34 elicited laughter from the audience? Every tiny little thing makes the audience erupt in titters?
Its a very very verbatim reference to the opening to HR Pufnstuf. A show that has a guy that runs around just like that and talks to a flute.
@@mrdonutswildride7808 Yes, I forgot that the original had a ridiculous laugh track.
This, the news anchors announcing to everyone they're getting a divorce and "Ocean in the Desert" are the BEST sketches from the show. XD
Hey it's Saul!
I got a feeling everyone who made this skit was on at least 1 hallucinogenic drug.
@JonnyPooPooPiants7 Not just Spongebob. He plays the Ice King from Adventure Time, too.
It's actually Ellis D. Trails.
anyone know the lyrics for the theme song, i can't figure out the first few lines
AWETHUMB!!!

Funny shit Man!
Lidsville H.R. Puff n Stuff hahahahahhahahahah fucking brilliant!
@pieceofcake125
I REMEMBER Puffnstuff,I OWN Puffnstuff....This is EXACTLY like Puffnstuff!!
Back when Comedy Central was weird and funny.
I hated this sketch until I started doing shrooms. Now, well....
Hahahaha!!!
Oh Bob.......
TOM! hahaha
It's so strange to think that that guy is spongebob. Though some of those shows do have his kinda subversive humor in it.
@HKTeeVee yes they will!, they'll know about what you did!
Actually, we're "weird." And often Smart-Alecks.
@Canaderek Did you do it yet???
Seriously man. I saw God the first time I did it. The second time, He saw me, but pretended He didn't...
Puts that lame-ass Dark Side/Wizard of Oz jazz to shame.
You mean what they said at the beginning of that episode? It was just a joke.
Why do Mr Show videos have such fucked up links on the side?!?!?!?
funny
Pot brownies, man.

This is from Mr. Show with Bob & David
Okay……
HR Puffnstuff was a fucked up show not far from this shit
People on drugs = funny
WTF 😒😒!!!!!!! 😂
Not as good as lidsville and pufnstuf
