      Dear Gamology, if you're gonna bring professionals to react to this, then PLEASE educate them into details on what they're seeing. The exact era, the background history. The vague history makes it so that professionals sometimes give wrong remarks, they thing something else. Like RDR2 and Electric street cars. If you had explained it properly, they would have said something else.

    • @NPC_GENERIC_ENEMY_INFANTRY
      @NPC_GENERIC_ENEMY_INFANTRY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diogo763 Most likely a combo of game design, visual designers, architects, and interior designers, and the final result is what all parties agreed on was the best result.
      I mean, it *is* for a game after all, and for a game where parkour is the focus, you'd have to sacrifice some for better gameplay, some for visuals, you get the point.
      Architects also get away with quite a bit of stuff because they don't exactly need to focus on gravity, and such can be more lenient in things like supports, complex structures. As long as it doesn't break suspension of disbelief.
      I noticed quite a bit of weird room/interior structures when I played the game, so I get what you're pointing at (like someone having a... Cherry Blossom tree in their living room), but as someone who touches game design from time to time, it's pretty hard for me personally to make something like a building make sense if I'm only focusing on the level design. And honestly, seeing enough crazy structures in the world makes me think a lot of the overall building designs are plausible, especially when things like the Lucas Museum, or the Harbin Opera House exist.

      Gotham is also an actual nickname for New York since at least the 1800s. It's named after an old English village of the same name. The name is Anglo-Saxon and means Goat Home. There's a legend that the villagers pretended to be mad so that the King wouldn't want to visit, as they didn't want to spend money on repairing the road for his visit. That legend of the Madmen of Gotham was later used by a journalist to mock the people of New York for being mad or foolish. Hence the name Gotham became a permanent nickname for New York.

    Some of the stones used to make the pyramids way more than 70 tons each. That's abosutely insane. In order to lift them that high they'd have to build a stone ramp that's already the size of the pyramid it self. The stones were cut so perfect that no modern technology can replicate it. How the pyramids were built is the biggest mystery in human history.

    I would have liked to see some Japanese games in here, some of them are incredibly accurate to real life. Like Ghostwire Tokyo or Persona 5.
    Now that I think of it, is there a reason Japanese creators make such realistic depictions pretty often? Because it happens a lot in anime too, you can hold a picture up to the real life spots and they seem almost 1:1 with all the little details like positioning of tree branches and everything.

    For Assassin's Creed: Unity, they actually used thousands of images and 3D scans of the building to make it as true to life as it possibly could have been. It was actually the most recent, most comprehensive imaging and recreation of the building that the images are actually being used in the restoration work. When ever an Assassin's Creed game has iconic landmarks they, at least used to, put in a ton of work to make it as accurate to life as possible such as the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, the Florence Cathedral, and even the Vatican.

  • @assassinbrotherhood8412
    @assassinbrotherhood8412 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ubisoft was guided and photo scanned the whole cathedral to use as reference which they brought up in the promotional trailers.
    So it is completely accurate but then adjusted a bit using old documents to research what changes have been made to try and recreate it for the time period.

      "You have architects on and ONLY show them architecture from games that stole from real life? " I mean every fictional location takes elements from real world places, applies to Night City as well. Morro Bay and Baywood-Los Osos, geographically speaking is the location of the city while in layout Night City closely resembles the street grid of downtown San Francisco. CD Projekt Red has cited Blade Runner, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell as inspirations for the city which themselves took ideas from real world cities. Gotham in the Arkham Knight is as original and unique as Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't matter if they took idea's from real world landmarks and cities. Would argue that Gotham is far more unique as there's far few gothic art deco 1930s mixed 1980s and modern day cities in media compared to futuristic retro Cyberpunk settings like Cyberpunk, Bladerunner, Judge Dredd, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell.

    Fun fact the team at ubisoft had the highest resolution 3D scans of Notre Dame because of the work that went into this game, and they recently donated the scans to framce im order to help them reconstruct
    I was a bit disappointed by their attitude towards the level of work and research that went into the game for example red dead bring write meticulously accurate.
    And I think saying “it’s easy just do it in twinmotion” not only undersells the work required but also fails to point out that twinmotion runs on unreal engine… a game engine
