    Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate, as someone relatively new to plumbing I have picked up some really useful tips from you. One thing I do when testing sink waste for leaks is start with a small amount of water ran into sink with plug in the closed position, then open plug/pop up waste to check for leaks before giving it a large amount of water to deal with, this way if I have a leak from waste I don’t have a large amount of water on floor/to get rid of, hopefully that makes sense and is of use to someone.

    I really like the way you reiterate to plan everything and mark measurements; that’s probably got to be the take home point. Having done several diy jobs that’s the number one point to always bear in mind, it ensures the job gets done smoothly and enjoyably.

    The way we put plumbers putty in the US is put it at the very top piece of the drain in the sink then have a rubber gasket at the bottom of the basin so the over flow doesn't leak. Plumbing seems very different in the UK from how we do things in the US. Love your vids. Keep up the good work

      I get why you do that because porcelain sinks can be out of shape naturally from when they are made and dried in the oven and the sink waist dosn't always sit flat ! 👍🇬🇧

    I put 6 wraps of ptfe tape over the trap rubber it protects it from getting cuts in it and reduces leaks .i also use white silicone to build the basin up and tthe top waste washer i throw it away as ut generally pops out at the last minutes and ruins everything.

    Hi. I followed your video to fit new vanity in bathroom and it was a great help, many thanks. Really good. However, one thing I found was I had to cut sink waste to run a new piece and the inside of pipe was lined in a horrible gunky slime(biofilm?). This went all way down pipe further than I could reach to clean. Could you recommend a cleaner to use to clean inside waste pipes? Thanks.

    Great video as usual.
    Not a criticism but a few things that I would have done differently would be:-
    Use swept elbows on the waste fittings - less likely to get blocked in the future.
    Use caulk rather than silicone down the sides of the unit - easier if you / customer wants to change colour of bathroom in the future.
    Got a basin that fitted flush with the top of the unit - as you’ve got the unit tight in the corner you’re unable to have the small overhang on both sides which makes the basin off center to the left - some of our customers would definitely notice that!
    Level the unit both ways - you may have done that but it wasn’t mentioned.
    Anyway, great install just thought I’d give my take on it for what it’s worth.

    • @H_o_g_a_n
      @H_o_g_a_n 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      great advice. i also noticed the basin wasn't centered either and it would forever bug me. i get it though, it would then mean the vanity would have had a small gap on the RHS.

    Nothing wrong with the correct use of flexi! It makes a lot of sense on baths, especially side tap baths where its up against the wall.

    • @nobodydoesithalfasgoodasyou
      @nobodydoesithalfasgoodasyou 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trouble with flexis is they all have a tiny bore at the connector ends. My bathroom was designed with a 22mm pipe from the hot water cylinder, the new combi boiler has a 15mm output 😔 but the flexi hose to the hot tap fitted a decade ago? Less than 10mm bore through the brass 😫
