Sir… when you realized, by accident, but the paint came up when you pulled up the tape, you tried it on a larger spot and it worked. Also, what a brilliant idea to add the gray duct tape at the end of the yellow duct tape and tried to pull it all up at once. From what I could see, the duct tape worked. Please try not to be concerned about those who make unkind comments. All that matters is that it works. I was wondering, though, would it help a little better if you spread or sprayed some of that stuff, you originally put down on the floor, maybe a light coating, then put the tape on top? Would that help the red paint come up a little better? Your garden looks beautiful with all the flowering, and I agree with gold that plum color is really pretty. This is your home, not ours, so please try to ignore those comments that tell you what you’re doing wrong or how you should do this or should do that. Yes, there are some very good helpful comments, hopefully they outweigh negative.

you’ve discovered an easy way to remove paint from your floor, to consider sandblasting is crazy. The mess would be horrendous. A brand new floor would not complement the citadel. Once it’s done and the room is finished the critics will see the final vision. A little patience and elbow grease is all that was needed. Your an inspiration to all citadel renovators 😊 and I love the front door ❤
Hello Suzie and Rols, the floor looks great, I like the patina look, it suits the room. You 2 call the shots, no one else. It’s your home, you 2 decide and I like your choices. I'm so pleased to see the beautiful rich colour back in the front door! It had looked like it suddenly faded after you painted it and I was sad to think it would need repainting, obviously it was just the dust (I clearly didn't think of that!). It's absolutely gorgeous!
Sir, your plan will give you the most satisfaction, and the best results! To maintain what is historic, or to give a space or place a sympathetic restoration should always be first and foremost. If and when it can be done, yes... of course. Make do and mend! Have you thought about waxing the floor to seal it? It will be just stunning no matter what. Thank you for sharing your process. The end result of your floor is amazing. Love it that you are trying to keep everything in tact keeping the history in place & honoring the history. I find that when others rip out the old and replace it with 'modern'..its like ripping out the guts and soul of the chateau. So Please keep doing what you feel is right for your home and your chateau!!!

Hi Suzie & Rols. I think your taping to remove the paint is absolutely Brilliant! The best part to me is that it not only looks beautiful but it keeps the character of the Chateau. Not completely surprised because from following you since day one you have always come up with great solutions. Suzie too. The flowers & gardens are beautiful as well as keeping with the Uniqueness of the Chateau. BTW I Loved the plum and gold from the first time you painted the door. Hi Suzie and Rols, I think your masking tape has worked just fine, so many inventions happened by accident. It's working well, no chemicals, dust or anything else to hurt you. Brillant. To have it all come up at once would have been "too easy" as they say. The duct tape did help. You are not an idiot; I think it was a Brillant idea. Leaving all the wear and imperfections is what you want. I don't think the woman complaining about the purple door has been watching your channel that long. Purple / Plum is your color Suzie, and I wouldn't want it any other color. Rols is right Suzie you are always glamours. Love from N.Y. P.S. 20.00 Euro.

I love the color of your door. I wouldn't mind that color on all your doors and shutters. I am just curious why don't you aren't doing something with your walls? Especially the kitchen. It would be so pleasant to have freshly painted walls.
The tape technique is GENIUS. I'd walk over it a bit more.

I loved your approach to stripping the painted floor with tape! No masks are needed and you can breathe! Even ripping off the tape would be fun for me! Even pulling weeds off the steps would be satisfying to me! That was sweet comment you gave Suzie at the end, Rols!

Great job on the floor Rolls. For that kind of price would it be worth doing again in one go all over ? A few rolls of tape, sore knees and a bit of exercise pulling it up might save you any more sanding/wire brushing. Looking good anyway you choose to go. Don't fret over the armchair DIYer's, decorators or gardeners they have nothing better to do with their sad little lives. The door looks fine to me. Great colour in my eyes.

I love the tiles and the tape seems to be doing a pretty good job. I'd like the really badly damaged tiles replaced, I think it would look better but looking forward to seeing the end product. Loved the way little Benji went and sat on the sheet by the door whilst the door was being oiled, the door looks sooo much better now xxx
What a great way to strip paint without caustic chemicals or dust! You must ignore all negative comments . If people can’t be uplifting and supportive, they have no business commenting at all. Your stripping method is working like a charm and your color choices are yours to make. The eggplant/plum and gold are unique to your home. It looks so rich!

I have a industrial grade metal roof in Plum LOL You motivate me to get my projects done, I have matching to paint on my Side Door, got to get on that! I live on 5 acres in a Fairy tale 4 story cottage i the woods and I always have so much to do. But it is just me (healing my broken ribs) so things don't get done until years later. And being an Artist I have a Ton of projects LOL The tape is GREAT! lol Love it! Keep up the motivation Screw what some low life people Think!

Thanks Jill, we gave the floor a good clean prior to taping it up then used a paint roller to force it down, then it's just a question of waiting. Good luck with it
Your paint removal idea is inspired. I am wondering if peel and stick shelf paper would have a strong enough adhesive, it would be wider and even faster to put down. Dollar stores sell the stuff where I live. Leaving it on over night was a good idea as adhesives bond more strongly over time. By the way, I love your door colour. You could have tried peel and stick wrapping/wall paper in larger sheets. In the U.S. they pop up in $1 discount stores now and then, but you can internet order cheaply also.
Use a camera or phone to take picture of aurora boreal is to see the colors.
Really do like the plumcolor it gives it a pop plus the gold a proper entrance 🎉🎉🎉 😊❤😊❤

Peanut butter or peanut oil works if you let it soak in that’s what target uses to remove sticky stuff.

Maybe an idea to try using those rolls of adhesive back shelving liners which would be much quicker than applying all those lines of tape? They are about 22 inches wide x 5 metres or 10 metres in length...ps I really like the door colour, but not so much on the garden well.

I love your front door. I’m glad to see it spruced up and the colour enhanced. I agree it is a fairytale tower! Don’t let the keyboard warriors and armchair critics get under your skin. That’s exactly what they want to do. Don’t give them airtime and you’re quite within your rights to delete them. It saves having to read such drivel! Hmmm a method less messy, less time consuming and less in cost? Who wouldn't give ut a try! Majes sense Rols! Not everything has to look shuny and new. Chateau have history and keeping it and its originality is a great thing to do. Also why spend more!?! Unles you have an unlimited amount of funds you do what you can to improve it! Renovating a Chateau is not easy on the back or the pocket! Keep it up Rols!
Next time put one or two strips of duct tape down at the edge (crossways to the masking tape rows), the put the masking tape on top of the duct tap so that when you lift the duct tape hopefully it will then automatically lift the ends of the masking tape strips.

I like the looks of the floor. It fits the room and the Chateau's more rustic look. I've always thought of the Chateau as a working home not a castle. I would be comfortable in your home. I happen to like the plum color. It does make a Fairytale appearance.

My kitchen cabinets are metal. Long ago I did a very bad paint job on them. The paint was peeling in spots, so I used wide cellophane packing tape to strip them. You know, the type of tape that sticks to itself when you’re trying to work with it? 🤓 Worked great for the most part. Very satisfying.
