  • Simulation of the basic principle of the "electric meter" with the movement of the platinum disk. When the two electromagnets are close and they are solicited by currents of different phase due to the reactions between the flows of the coils and the currents induced in the disk by the variation of the flow, the disk tends to move with a driving torque that depends on the value of the two currents and their phase angle.The coil you see is of a washing machine pump.

    Doing this experiment will make your electric meter disk spin a fraction faster. Ironically, the exact same mechanism, and principle being demonstrated here. Well done sir :)

  • @TheRussianPhenom
    @TheRussianPhenom 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    This could be pretty useful if set up at home. If you need something spun decently fast, this would be a (relatively) cheap solution. Have you measured the RPM on that spinning disk?

    • @ElectricExperimentsRobert33
      @ElectricExperimentsRobert33  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheRussianPhenom I have not measured its speed because it does not make many revolutions per minute.

    • @iliasasdf
      @iliasasdf 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many hobby RC brushless motors can (at least theoretically) run at ten of thousands of RPM on very low loads, and might cost 20$-50$. I think the most difficult problem is to make the contraption symmetric enough to avoid vibration and a dangerous catastrophic failure.

    • @Coolkeys2009
      @Coolkeys2009 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      iliasasdf Dangerous catastrophic failure makes great for great TH-cam videos. I've ran hard drive platters up to around 20000 Rpm without issue. Mind you I wouldn't want to be around if one broke.

      "Electric Experiments"Roobert33 I thought as long as the parallel connection between each coil was reversed I.E 180 phase/lead or lag it should have worked.

    • @ElectricExperimentsRobert33
      @ElectricExperimentsRobert33  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coolkeys2009 Even inverting the phase of 180 °, nothing happens, the phase ground evidently allows operation..

    • @Coolkeys2009
      @Coolkeys2009 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      This deserves more research, to find out what the phase shift is, maybe you could try a capacitor in series with one coil (be care though), or may be the coils themselves in series in various directions. Both should give you 90 degrees lead or lag(well the capacitor at least). May be you can get more speed or torque, I was expecting to see that thing spinning a 3000 RPM :-)

    So there is no magnet or magnetized item in the rotating equipment? The hard disk plate? the circular item that fixed the plate to the mill? Don't we need a magnet forced to move in a field caused by an electrical current in a solenoid? Here we seem to have a magnet and a solenoid in the equipment that's brought close to disk and the mill. I would say that there must be a magnet in the moving parts...

    • @ElectricExperimentsRobert33
      @ElectricExperimentsRobert33  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +potur No, there is no magnet near it. The rotating field is created with the coils ;)

    What if the spinning object was somehow used to create power ( like a windmill ) . Some of the power went back into powering it's own magnets , making it perpetuate itself . All you would need is one good push and free energy .. and if that mechanism was in a vacuum the parts wouldn't incur resistance or degradation .. that's just my idea tho .
