I love the handholding where you take time to tell the viewers why you think one photo sold more than its companion. This approach goes a long way to enhancing my understanding of stock photography sales. Many thanks!
Question? I was a Pro Stock Photographer in the 70s,80s,and 90s. Made good money to cover all my cost plus profit. From just 2 Stock photo Agencies. I read that most picture usages only get a 1 dollar per use,per pic. How is it worth all the time and effort, to do the same in this day and time. I love photography, BUT my time is worth something. Thanks for your answer.
Its not for everyone for sure, I made a full video on this subject but basically I recommend this for anyone learning photography, or anyone with photos and no outlet, the $1 is a good sale, most sell for $0.10 or $0.30, occasionally (rare) $200 or $30, It is a numbers game and its definitely not like it was 20 years ago, however you can make a full time income If you put in the work and time, I like that is it residual income I haven't uploaded photos for a few months yet I keep getting paid each month
These videos are great! I got most of the guesses wrong! Lol The National Geographic “guy in the canoe” pic, I assume that was an editorial, unless you stopped the boat to get a model release?
Yes it is an editorial so was the aerial shot, there were a few people climbing the pyramid. Thanks for sharing your "results" I am trying to make it difficult 😁
Terimakasih atas insight nya. CMIIW Love this video, please make another video like this with 1 spesifik niche from your portfolio
Great game. I was right about half of them. Regarding the first one, how do you overcome the identification of the children in the photo without releasing a model - publishing it as editorials?
OK, done playing now, and honestly, I got 100%. I think these were a little too easy... at least if you've been saturating yourself for the last week with "how to stock video/photos" or "what sells in stock" videos for a week or so, trying to finally psych yourself up to start submitting from a collection of over 40K pieces of media from the last ten years of shooting.
😅 I'll try to find harder ones next time. honestly don't think about it too much, upload as much as you can, only about 5% of my online files sale but they need the other 95% to be found 🤷♂️
@@wollertz That seems to be the consensus. It's a game of quality in quantity, and ideally you can find an under exploited niche. Anyway, ALL your photos were pretty good, but I was able to guess them right because I'm immersed in the "how to stock" lane of learning lately.
You can do a reverse google search. things have changed a bit the but idea is the same as i mentioned in this video: th-cam.com/video/2godv2Doavc/w-d-xo.html
Hi my images was approved in shutterstock how will i know if i earn money on approved images or i only earn money if that approved images will be sold?
It’s still a guess, now I can make sure I put more intention into each photo and follow the rules of composition, comercial value etc, but even if the photo is not perfect I upload anyway, only 5% of my portafolio sells, but the 95% that don’t are there to get the other files found
That’s why I recommend doing multiple shots of the same subject, you synchronize settings and metadata, and uploading and submitting similar subjects is much easier, 10 images and 1 is a best seller doesn’t hit as hard as uploading one of a kind images and not selling many 😅
I love the handholding where you take time to tell the viewers why you think one photo sold more than its companion. This approach goes a long way to enhancing my understanding of stock photography sales. Many thanks!
I appreciate that!
I'm so glad YT has recommended your channel! Thank you for all your videos!
Thank you so much for the comment! I really appreciate it!
100% keep doing these videos. Stock photography is something I haven't pulled the trigger on yet, but I'm learning a ton about the system from you!
Thanks, will do!
It takes time and effort to make it in stock, but every sale motivation!
Love this series, very informative
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, I will make more! 😁
I'm not bad to guess which of your photos sold more, not as good at figuring how to take my own successful photos!
stock is not only a numbers game it is also a time game, lots of photos lots of time 😅
I got 2 right, No wonder my submissions barely sell. Yes to keeping these up. Thank you for the insights.
😅 for the longest time I thought there was no rhyme or reason, but the more I do it the more it makes sense! Thanks for sharing your results!

Bambi is a very good driver! Loved the video, very well put together, and I know, I've been on the news. This was good!
Thanks! Bambi is a very safe driver 😂. I love this fire lookout! Great views! Maybe one day I’ll be on the news 😁
@@wollertz looks epic 🤙

Yes! but also remember you need photos that don't sell so that the best sellers can be found 🤷♂️
Enjoyed this type of video, would like to see more of this.
Thank you! I will plan for more!
I see your chauffeur was working hard today.
Concentrated and safe driver 😅

Thanks Charlie, another great video and photos!!
Glad you like them! thanks for the support!

Thanks for sharing, and yes! Editorials
excellent driving skills, but i missed seeing your dog as it's filming you.
😅 I need another camera!
You are such a Professional and Cool person✌️😎 Love your content 🎉
Thank you so much 😁
Good concept. I’m wrong on several.
Thank you! And thanks for sharing, a lot of these were not what I expected at all 😅
These are fun, keep doin them! :) Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing this information.
you are welcome! I hope it helps!
6:10 - in shtterstock for example they don't allow me to put photos with letters on - why is it possible for you to upload this image ?
It sure I know what you mean. I upload photos with words all the time, mostly handwritten 🤔
How do you know what buyers used your photo for? Shutter stock only tells me it sold but not to whom. Or how it was used. I wo;uld love to know that.
You can do a reverse google search. things have changed a bit the but idea is the same as i mentioned in this video: th-cam.com/video/2godv2Doavc/w-d-xo.html
Great video on an important subject
Thank you!
Fun and informative. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment!
Did you have to get a release to sell the Napa sign?
Now that I think about it, I did not 😅 I must have gotten lucky with that one 😁
So helpful.👍🏻🙏🏻
I’m glad!
Did you required a model release?
No I did not, I uploaded as editorials
Me gusta me gusta! More por favor
Con gusto! Gracias por el comentario!
what camera do u use ?
Most of these images were shot with the original canon 7D, later I added a canon 5DII and 5DIV and now a canon R5
More.🙏🏻
Absolutely! Thank you! I’ll gather photos and info for a new in soon!
where do you sell them?
I have links in the description
Hi my images was approved in shutterstock how will i know if i earn money on approved images or i only earn money if that approved images will be sold?
Yes, you only make money when someone buys the images, thats why it takes numbers and time, try to get a good solid collection of at least 1000 photos
Can you now expect which of your photos won't sell? And do you post them anyway??
It’s still a guess, now I can make sure I put more intention into each photo and follow the rules of composition, comercial value etc, but even if the photo is not perfect I upload anyway, only 5% of my portafolio sells, but the 95% that don’t are there to get the other files found
Thanks a lot. I know you keep repeating that all time but I guess we still need to hear that! 95% that doesn't sell is not something easy to accept!
That’s why I recommend doing multiple shots of the same subject, you synchronize settings and metadata, and uploading and submitting similar subjects is much easier, 10 images and 1 is a best seller doesn’t hit as hard as uploading one of a kind images and not selling many 😅
