Vintage homes weren't as aesthetic or matchy matchy as now a days. If we fill our home with 2nd hand market finds and handed down items we instantly get a vintage homey feel
I love your enthusiasm and your style of presentation and I've just subscribed to your channel. I'm 81 and get very nostalgic for the 'old days', though admittedly not all of them were good. I like to look in antique centres and charity shops for old stuff like my parents had when I was growing up.
So true. You don't need oodles of money to achieve vintage. In a couple of days I'm picking up old Axminster carpet that's in mint condition. I can't believe my luck. This stuff sells for hundreds for a small mat. Im getting nearly 32m² for $200. Whoop whoop! I'll have such pretty, large rugs for my 1850s farmhouse ☺️
I have a 1910 house in Nebraska USA,I LOVE this old house . My kitchen is vintage red and white decor ,crocheted red and white vintage pot holders line the walls ,my dining room has the waterfall buffet and other vintage pieces . I absolutely love the 40s . When I get it finished hopefully when people come in ,they suddenly step back to the 40s ,it's a work in progress . Love your videos
So glad I found your wonderful place. I live in an 1870 farmhouse in Danville Vermont USA. pop 2500. I moved from Los Angeles, California USA 2 years ago and I am so glad I moved. Vintage, slow living, and nature you are speaking my language.
Sending love and solidarity from a similarly curated home FULL of thrifted vintage objects that are, according to your countryman William Morris, both "useful" and "beautiful!" LOVE your channel!
I have so much more space since I threw out my large upholstered three piece suit, and replaced it with a couple of high backed Ercol Windsor chairs. I bought 2 tatty chairs from Ebay and a local secondhand shop. Then replaced the seat rubber straps. Will eventually get around to replacing the cushions. I find them much better to sit on, now that I am getting older.
I had never heard of the ethanol box thing before, so that was neat! I also like the lady who made the tiny pond in her garden. I will definitely try both of these someday!
Hello I have just watched the above video.... I kept saying yes.. Yes to what you were saying. I too..... For Meny.... Meny Years have been Buying pre...loved Furniture....etc. And clothes. After what I commented in the grandma core video, one of the thoughts I had was about mixing frames...which I've been hesitant to do since mine have all been black since moving, but now I feel more confident on mixing them with the many, many frames littering the three charity shops on my high street! I have a similar fireplace to you, does the ethanol box provide as much heat as a traditional fire? I've got so many electronics around my fireplace an alternative solution like that sounds great.
Absolutely love ❤❤❤ your presenting style. Better than most on TV. Just found you & going thru some of your TH-cam back catalogue. I find it so hard to discover TH-camrs on my wavelength. I love interiors, decorating, art & crafts, charity shops, cats, books & gardening. Do you have any other channels you could recommend? I'm currently stuck at home feeling ill so seeking out interesting content to keep me happy. Love your channel so much, thankyou xx
Ps I have a pond in my garden that was an old corner bath we found next to a skip. My partner dug a big hole for it & I edged it with turf we'd removed elsewhere. Looks great, we get frogs & toads & dragonflies now. My cat likes to sit in the long grass next to it for hours. We don't have much income, so a free pond was ideal.
Plus, vintage furniture and clothing were usually made to last, whereas a lot of today's goods are made to last maybe a season - so you're more apt to buy the next season's offerings.
I seriously envy you your Raggedy Ann doll. My mother refused to get one for me. Buying a new/new to me one would be just silly and not in a good way. Sigh sob.
Great tips but I urge people to not be afraid of mixing different woods when selecting furniture. Unless you're going for a certain look that is. Or maybe I just like my house looking like an eccentric wizard cottage lol

Such great ideas! My husband always teases me over my "leisurely breakfast" as I always make time to enjoy my tea and toast every morning, haha!
OK this is the best and most inspiring and realistic vintage home channel I’ve ever watched. Thank you ❤

That kitchen is perfection!

Your dear cat was playing on the bed at the end but when you left the room, he stopped and looked in your direction!
Hi just found your channel, will be binge watching 😁

I have the same grey/red check blanket that is over the back of your chair, it adds some lovely vintage warmth to a room!
