Croatia, Estonia, and Georgia are the most appealing for me. Don't need the beaches and sand as much, and the easy access to the rest of Europe are high on my list of requirements. Thanks for the rundown!
Yes, same here. Just want to swap the outrageously expensive UK for the cooler European cities. I was in Bremen prior to lockdown #2. Missing Germany so much. But, still not fully vaxxed due to autoimmune issues.
I’ve gotten the Iceland nomad visa and I would actually recommend this one. Yes, the income requirement is quite high and so is the cost of living, but the benefit is that you can access to Schengen zone for about half of your stay. Hopping to Iceland then mainland Europe can save you a lot on the plane ticket to Europe, especially from the USA. Iceland is magical and you can get a cabin in this magical land fully equipped with Wi-Fi for your stay.
FANTASTIC information, as always!! It was really nice to see you compare and contrast the different visas. Estonia seems especially appealing, given it’s proximity to the Shengen countries and being able to call Estonia one’s home base and then extend one’s stay by traveling to those countries, which would be a plus in it’s own right (see more of Europe).
Thank you so much for the breakdown! I’m looking into traveling somewhere in the EU next year. This helps a lot 🙏🏻Also, loving the judge Judy references! You need to incorporate more clips like these in your videos 😆
Thank you for your hard work and efforts in doing this digital visa video for such a new concept. I was unaware of these. I have done consulting work in China and enjoyed my extensive traveling prior to this global pandemic. Currently living in Thailand on an extended stay Visa (Retirement) and enjoy my time with our two young children. Thailand has many positives including the wonderful and friendly people, great foods and scenery and low prices. While it isn't perfect it is a great place to raise children. Buddhists are generally a peaceful and outgoing group of folks. :-) Rob in Thailand.

@@TravelingwithKristin yah, thx Kirstin; i've heard that before; Island of Sharks they call it and it's one of the top places for shark attack. No, not the way i would want to check out that's for sure!
HI Kristin thanks for another great video. I wouldn't want to go anywhere cold nor to Barbados as it seems over priced for what you get. Out of the European countries I would choose Croatia but I would prefer a western european country like Italy to invent a digital nomad visa and would love to be there for a full year. Opening up some of Europe would assist the economy, especially after covid. Italy would be the best for me as I speak fluent Italian. Second choice would be Greece and maybe Malta. I would also consider Spain to practice my Spanish. There isn't one country in Western Europe that is on the list and the EU takes refugees on boats etc who drain their economy instead of boosting the economy. Caribbean Islands are too limiting and could be boring and after been through 3 hurricanes I am not interested in the Caribbean all year round. I prefer to go to places for one year plus potential extension.
You’re welcome Amira! I agree - I would love to see a Digital Nomad Visa in pretty much every country but especially Italy, France, Germany… and Norway and the Netherlands! Greece just announced something giving digital nomads a beneficial tax rate but I haven’t had time to look into all the details so stay tuned for that! I lived in Malta once for three months but it kind of reminded me of a Caribbean island in the Mediterranean. I kind of got bored after a while...
@@TravelingwithKristin Yes I think Malta may be too small. I like the idea of being in the main area of europe and able to drive around from one country to another. I even thought of driving from Turkey to Italy as well. Let's see what opens up. I did see an article about Greece but it didn't make much sense to me or apply to us, outside the EU.
Perhaps a prequel would be a discussion of which tourist visas are legal for nomads. I suspect almost all tourist visas prohibit work, and in the unlikely case that they allow work, would require paying taxes (except in tax-free countries, like Dubai UAE or Cayman Islands). So my guess is that all nomads working on tourist visas are violating the visa in one way (working) or another (not paying taxes). Hence the _'choice'_ between tourist and nomad visas is really a choice about being illegal or legal.
Georgia is a clear winner. So friendly and welcoming. How do I pay taxes as a digital nomad? Is its possible to open bank account? You didn't mention taxes and bank accounts in the video. I think local bank account is number one priority for me. It is convenience and added safety. I also don't like places which are too hot or too cold or islands, because islands can get boring pretty soon.
Great question! Which country are you from? Check out this video for info on taxes for US citizens who are digital nomads th-cam.com/video/bogAhFC7rB8/w-d-xo.html and regarding offshore bank accounts, the one I use the most is TransferWise. Hi, I subscribed to your channel/blog recently! As an aspiring digital nomad, I moved overseas to Brazil from LA for the first time in 2020 and I was wondering if you can recommend any good international shipping services ? I have big computers to lug around and a recently acquired ergonomic chair (i have no idea how to travel with this). I left my original chair behind in the US that I would like to be reunited with at some point :P It has been tricky figuring out how to travel as light as possible since I work in the gaming industry and do need these larger items. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
Hello Valentina and welcome! The cheapest way to move your equipment around is actually as excess baggage with your airline. It's way too expensive to ship electronics and furniture items that are so heavy. Another option is to rent equipment in your destination or join a co-working space that has extra furniture and computers. But I usually get insurance and bring everything on the plane. Many of my clients are gamers and they do the same. www.pokerrefugees.com But make sure to check with your airline about the luggage policies for such equipment. Let me know any other follow up questions!
@@TravelingwithKristin thank you !! I should have gotten insurance the first time i traveled internationally. I watched from the airport window as the baggage handlers hurled my luggage with my precious computers as hard as they could onto the pile 🥲 hahah xD well i hope to become a travel pro like you someday soooon

@@TravelingwithKristin Sounds great. Can't wait to hear about it. All the information I can find on current Portugal Visa options implies that you need to own your own business to qualify. Also, if that's the kind of information you only share with clients, I'm happy to pay. I don't want to take advantage of your willingness to engage with your audience.

how do you prove that you're getting 3500$ per month if you're from Egypt, we don't have a pay slip and even if they do the company usually don't show the real salary for tax reasons because they pay more, also the social security don't issue such certificates, I myself get my salary cash in an envelope, can't I gust deposit the total year amount in and Estonian bank or what ever the period is, if it's 6 month so be it, that means 3500*6=21000$, would that be enough? thanks in advance for your help, your video was very helpful and informative.

Malta and Brazil made nomad visas that look pretty easily obtainable. I'd love to do the Portugal one but it seems risky considering you have to lease property before getting the application accepted. Doesn't make much sense.
Plenty of Latin American digital nomad visas that got no mention here (?). Same timezones as USA/Canada and incredible culture, food, lifestyle, etc. Big miss.

Hi There, I am wondering if anyone can recommend a consultant/lawyer/advisor to answer questions about getting US benefits as a U.S. citizen but have been out of the country for most of the last decade but now back in the U.S. ?
I AM serious about working from the Cayman islands from working right now as a digital nomád in Mexico, so post a link for the agency that provide your services otherwise being a Mexican national I imagine that the digital nomad Visa ought to be processed at the Brittish embassy in My Country?
I heard that remote work without a proper permit can get you deported if you get caught. Am I wrong about that, or is the risk just so small that it's not worth thinking about?
It would great to know which English speaking countries for American expats. There are many countries to like as expat but we can't speak English, life becomes limited ! UK is great but the cost of living is exorbitant.
Good question! The Netherlands is a good one where everyone speaks English. Also Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and many parts of the Baltic states (especially young people in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania)
@@TravelingwithKristin Great recommendations. I was once in Germany (Munich) and it was terrible with English. I was asking for 'salt' in a restaurant and no one knew what it meant. As long as you have an international healthcare plan that is accepted by law in the country where you want to reside + You have proof that you can sustain yourself without the need of any local government help and proof of your tax pay in your country of origin or country of your choice that you have a citizenship for + You have a legal registered address where you reside, you shouldn't need any type of visa in any country of this more and more global world.
@@TravelingwithKristin Your tourist visa is only valid for 90 or some cases 180 days! I posted my comment with the intention that it should be unlimited amount of time! I don't know which countries have special regulations for digital nomads but I know that the Netherlands has a special treaty with the US via the DAFT agreement with which an American citizen can stay up to 5 years!
None of those options seem attractive, moving every three months is an ideal schedule, no extra cost or paperwork - besides who'd want to spend winter in Iceland or summer in UAE - YMMV :)
Understandable! I’ve done a lot of three month stints in different countries but I also like changing it up and staying for a year or more to get a different perspective. I lived for one year and Nicaragua, seven years in Costa Rica, and a couple years in Amsterdam - also 6 months in Australia and Bulgaria. By staying long-term, you can acclimate more to the local lifestyle and culture in a way that’s difficult to achieve in three months. I recommend trying both options at some point! Expect more countries to launch similar programs in the upcoming years - possibly every country in the world at some point!

Thanks! Will see what I can do 😊
Thanks for telling all these to us !
Glad it helped!
@@TravelingwithKristin sure !
Great info. Awesome
Glad you liked it!
You can learn more about it here: www.travelingwithkristin.com/transferwise
Better than Judge Judy
Thanks for watching!
Great video! The tax situation, and ability to start a business is probably the biggest factor for me. Estonia looks nice as an EU option.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you for the info, which country are in now as a digital nomad?
You're welcome; currently in Miami!
Love this video so helpful. Although Albania offers US travelers and EU traveler's 1 year without having to prove income.
Thanks Brandon! Yes Albania is a really underrated option. I recommend it!
Hello Kristin...
I like your content video!
Do you can help me, for England how much is cost visa and time you can stay there?
If know more detail please let me know.
Thank you Kristen...
Thank you! Where are you from?
I'm from Bulgaria 🇧🇬 but I'm live in Greece...
Thanks for such a wonderful video, can I apply for Estonia if my current job is not remote/online?
Hi Asif! Glad you liked the video. That depends on what visa are you applying for. 😊
What about Germany's "Freiberufler visa"?
This video was exclusively about the "digital nomad" visas but I can do another video on alternative work permits as well
I've heard Portugal has one as well. Do you know anything about that?
They have a popular visa called the D-7 visa but apparently a digital nomad visa is also in the works! Stay tuned
@@TravelingwithKristin Sounds great. Can't wait to hear about it.
All the information I can find on current Portugal Visa options implies that you need to own your own business to qualify. I'm a remote employee for a US company, and I just can't seem to get clarification on if that would qualify or not.
Also, if that's the kind of information you only share with clients, I'm happy to pay. I don't want to take advantage of your willingness to engage with your audience.
Well done Kristin
Thanks Chris!
Could you please do a video on how to working in Czechia with American passport. Thanks.
Hi Sunny, yes I’ve been thinking of doing one on the Czech freelancer visa! Is that what you’re referring to?
@@TravelingwithKristin Yes..I wanted to know if Czech has digital nomad and how is it like there. I heard it is not as pricey like UK or Sweden
Need a TH-cam visa.. two to six months to explore the country and pump out a bunch of videos that will help their tourism 😏
The 30-day tourist visas just aren't long enough to slow travel a country or region 🏝️🏞️🏔️🏖️
PS.. liked the gavel blooper Glad you kept it 😉
I agree! 30 days flies by. And I’m glad you liked the gavel ;) I usually end up with quite a few bloopers so maybe should leave them in more!
I loved this video, wanted to know more about the Estonia digital visa for Indians... Can you make something on that? Thanks ❤️
Hi Jennifer! I have videos on Estonia’s digital nomad visa th-cam.com/video/z0hUBpzk4Ds/w-d-xo.html

Please post more. videos if you have the info. I love your videos and need to make a decision within the next 3 months to do. online teaching in a low cost country by the sea, cause Im a water baby.
I will be posting more soon, so stay tuned! 😊 All the best to you Linda!
how do you prove that you're getting 3500$ per month if you're from Egypt, we don't have a pay slip and even if they do the company usually don't show the real salary for tax reasons because they pay more, also the social security don't issue such certificates, I myself get my salary cash in an envelope, can't I gust deposit the total year amount in and Estonian bank or what ever the period is, if it's 6 month so be it, that means 3500*6=21000$, would that be enough?
thanks in advance for your help, your video was very helpful and informative.
So glad you liked it. In that case, you may want to travel on a tourist visa or go to a country without an income requirement.
Are there any countries an American can move to year round without a visa? Most are only 180 days.
Not so many without a visa except Georgia, Albania, and places like Mexico where you can leave and come back in the same day your visa expires and renew it
@@TravelingwithKristin Peru no longer allows border runs. Nice to see Mexico still has it.
Do you know which countries have the least Covid restrictive measures? I know of Sweden but where else?
Thank you

Hi Kristin can you make a similar video again along with brief information on Income tax for Digital Nomads for 2022.

@@TravelingwithKristin Thanks for sharing, It was interesting to learn about territorial taxation system. This is very useful especially if one is situated in a high tax third world country.
Great video. Anything on Asia ?
I hope we hear more about Asian countries reopening and offering remote work permits sometime in 2021!
Hi, thank you for the helpful information. 😃
It's sparked some new ideas!
I'm a recent retired speech pathologist and I'm single.
I'm wondering if you have made a video about which companies that you would recommend working remotely for. Or, if you haven't made one, would you consider doing so?
I'm interested in part time and living remotely.
I'm also a deep sea diver and love the beach life so this video helped me consider different locations. 💞
Thanks again, Shelley
Hi Shelley, so glad you liked it and thank you for the video request! I have added it to my list :)
Hey sweetheart ❤️ Kristy
Another great video!!!!!
Happy house warming 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hope you get all happiness in your new house and you prosper forever.
Keep inspiring and motivating
Love 💖 you!!!!
Thank you so much RutherFord! I'll keep on keepin' on :) Love my new place!
Where is your new home Kris, does that mean you won't be traveling as much 😒
How about Svalbard? Anyone can work and live indefinitely in Svalbard without a visa if he or she is from one of Svalbard Treaty countries. Is it simply too far north or what?
I haven't been there. 😊
Kristen, Thai marriage visas. I'm an American in Dubai and not returning to the US. I don't have a bank account in Thailand basically how can I get to Thailand so I can set up a Thai bank account .Do I have to email paperwork or can I visit the embassy here for the visa paperwork
Hello, please send an email to info@orbisrelocation.com and we can help with the Thai bank account
I always question mark when youtuber stated super fast Internet is only about 100Mbps ???
That's fast for digital nomads haha. We've been through some tough internet times
I will consider 1gbps to be the standard.
Thanks this information
Any time!
Malta and Brazil made nomad visas that look pretty easily obtainable. I'd love to do the Portugal one but it seems risky considering you have to lease property before getting the application accepted. Doesn't make much sense.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Claude. You can get more info on digital nomad visas in my new digital nomad visa database bit.ly/DNV_20off
Thanks Vampire Kristin, learned alot on this episode! Have you ever worked with a view of the pyramids? Thats my bucket list item :)
Not yet! Hopefully someday soon. I was always so intrigued by Egypt
How about Knysna or Cape Town?
I haven't been to Cape Town yet but I'll see if South Africa has a visa on the way!
i will love to travel to croatia as a digital nomad by next year
Go for it Temitope! If you need some free resources you can check out this link: www.digitalnomadbootcamp.com 😊
Plenty of Latin American digital nomad visas that got no mention here (?). Same timezones as USA/Canada and incredible culture, food, lifestyle, etc. Big miss.
Hi
Does anyone here live and work in bali. Whats it been like since pandemic started? I want to find a place to live thats natural environment and tax rate not so high.
Hi Karim, a lot of my friends and clients are in Bali now. What questions do you have?
@@TravelingwithKristin hi kristin many thanks for your reply. Initially i want to find about getting a work or business visa? I lived in bali before and i know rent etc is affordable. Im trying to find new country to live which has more open minded people. Thanks k
Thanks for the inspirations. :) Now, how do you get locked down Gov's to issue a new passport to people who want to travel? Seems there is a huge backlog in the States.
You're welcome, C! That's a good question... which country are you from? Maybe we need to protest :)
@@TravelingwithKristin I'm from the States and it seems like there's a few protests already in progress here. So, my little one would be back of the line. Still, one wonders if they will ever get the new passports issued or are we all behind an iron curtain now, never to leave?
If you could do one on buying a house in Italy, outside of Rome, in a safe and more affordable area. And on purchasing an apartment too.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add that to my list.
Very nice vid Kristin, can you suggest any EU country for digital nomads with monthly living cost around 1K-USD pls?
Thank you for the kind words! Yes check out this video on the best places for digital nomads in Europe and then let me know if any of those appeal to you th-cam.com/video/KrJJM2ELakQ/w-d-xo.html
I wonder what are the top 6 or so countries for digital nomads, and also for those involved in cryptocurrencies...
Great question! I'll be doing more videos about crypto countries coming up but for now I recommend this video: th-cam.com/video/6qfybxHBZOI/w-d-xo.html
There is a BIG crypto community in Tulum. They meet like once a week I think for crypto events and stuff on the beach.
EXCILLENT
glad you liked it!
Thank you for this video. Perfect summary so we lazy people don't have to. Should one wait for this pandemic to pass before travelling to one of these desinations or should one go right away?
You’re welcome, Andreas! Glad the research was worth it ;) You can travel to most of these countries now! Except Iceland still has some tourism restrictions and their visa takes a long time to process. Where are you from?
@@TravelingwithKristin Sweden. Alright! This is good news, thank you for your answer.
do these visas allow you to renew them ? or is it just the one year and then you must leave ?
Hi Erika, too soon to tell, but I think many countries will end up offering renewal options in the future. For now, I would assume only one year (depending on the country)
@@TravelingwithKristin another question i wondered about is if these years lived in the country would count towards applying for citizenship ?
Hi There, I am wondering if anyone can recommend a consultant/lawyer/advisor to answer questions about getting US benefits as a U.S. citizen but have been out of the country for most of the last decade but now back in the U.S. ?
I AM serious about working from the Cayman islands from working right now as a digital nomád in Mexico, so post a link for the agency that provide your services otherwise being a Mexican national I imagine that the digital nomad Visa ought to be processed at the Brittish embassy in My Country?
Hi Luigi, you can sign up for relocation services at www.travelingwithkristin.com/contact
I am interested in Sweden. Some of my friends chose Portugal for cost effectiveness but not sure how much English they speak !
Great video as always. We are trying to get my Filipina us green card holder to Europe on a Schengen visa but we are having a difficulty we are thinking perhaps digital nomad visa to shengen country.. but we need advice and help ASAP

having this DN visas allow me to open a bank account on those countries?
It depends on which DN visa.
It's a personal question if you don't want to say then I'm fine with it.
How much do you earn from medium and how much time do you put writing?
It depends on the month but anywhere from $100 up to $10,000 so far. I haven't been writing on there lately since my burn out but I hope to start writing again in January
@@TravelingwithKristin Omg 10,000 dollar a month just by writing on Medium. I'm so happy for you😁😍

You don't really need any of that with a passport and a tourist visa
But staying 3 months does not give benefit in terms of tax residence. Atleast 183 days should be in zero tax jurisdiction.
Moving every 3 months is exhausting
Kristin, what I would like for the country to allow me to bring my pet. Do you know anything about this?
Hi Anteres, there are a few countries that allow but there are also requirements and restrictions. I think that's a good topic for a podcast or video. Will add that to my list, thank you!
