Nice vid, you shouldn’t connect the cable the way you do, it puts a lot of straint on the contact. Look in the manual there must be some guidance there how to connect without puttin straint on the contact.
Thanks for the tip!, I actually have a small D shackle to attach the loop from the Umbilical to the hole on the tail fin, just didn’t for this test as I knew it wasn’t going to go far. Great you noticed :) and many thanks for reaching out. Just waiting on weather to go back out.
@@Ruzkig it’s a good little rig, I work in deep see exploration so it made sense to get this. It’s very intuitive if you have flown drones. It’s not a perfect ROV as you can’t strafe sideways or roll the ROV but for exploration and inspections, it’s great. It is heavy for its size but well built. The thrusters are very easy to replace if damaged and the arm is fairly easy to fit and remove. I did have to adjust the arm as I felt the tether to control the arm was too tight when screwed into the ports/Sockets. The interface is easy to read but I really time navigation under the water is required or you will get disorientated. It’s a good thing that the tether is also directly connected to the handset instead of having to worry about a WiFi signal dropping out. You can also hard wire your phone to the handset and even run a screen via HDMI. You can also transmit visuals to other people’s phones during inspections.
Nice vid, thanks for posting. I would not recommend rinsing with water under pressure as it can push its way past seals into the ROV. I suggest gently dunking it into a bath of fresh water after the initial (gentle) rinsing. Even one drop of missed saltwater against a seal can dry into an abrasive salt crystal that can cause a seal to fail.
Thanks for your comment, please be aware that this jetwash is extremely low pressure and won’t do any damage, the ROV does get a bath too :) luckily for me I work in deep sea exploration and work with equipment we use in the water which is why I am confident in using this to wash down all of my RC’s. For this what don’t work with such equipment daily, your comment is a fair comment and no one should use a high pressure system to clean/wash down their RC’s
Yeah, some users just don’t understand :) lucky or even unlucky for me, I had to goto Burgen to Siemens for two days training on seals lol. Very useful but mind numbing. This ROV is due a small strip down this winter for internal clean of the shell and inspection of the motors so we shall see how they are, I’m not that impressed with the anti stuck thrusters. At least these mini ROV are good for 10 Ats pressure. Do you work for this company or are you an Operator?
Great video thanks , got my Gladius yesterday and have done my first underwater adventure , fantastic . Are you able to let me know where you bought the machine that spool the tether , looks fantastic, please let know , thanks Bill
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video and even more so got your first adventure :) the winch/spoiler came direct from the manufacturer so I’m not quite sure where you may find it, I’m sure a quick little googley search will help. Have to say, though the umbilical spoiler is expensive, it’s deffo been worth having. Good luck and have fun :D

@@vortexrcuk just didnt want you to loose the drone. Still happy with it? What’s good what’s bad?

@@vortexrcuk Good that the wash is low pressure. I have seen people break seals by dunking to hard into a rinse bucket.

@@vortexrcuk Neither, just worked a lot with underwater housings for cameras. My thrusters were my fins :).
Nice, I had a Canon XL1S for a few years with the waterproof case, love filming in and around the water
