Porcupine fun fact: They are so bad at climbing tress but at the same time so stubborn about it, that nature gave their quills an antibiotic coating. This way they don't get clapped by infections after falling out of a tree again and impaling themself.
@@joyfullyjhordyI liked both. But they are sort of different. Night in the Woods has Gravity Falls the later years vibes and Porcupine Falls is much more grounded and real and sad. I recommend both but they are not quite the same vibes.
Playing it now, and while I definitely agree that the narrative and characters are delightful, MAN I wish you'd warned the users about how buggy this game is. I am enjoying it, no doubt, but oof, the glitches and stuttering I'm encountering are pretty rough.
Unfortunately having just finished it, I do feel compelled to point out that the Switch version at least freezes a lot (requiring restarts with an inconsistent autosave) and had various other bugs like the Y button just refusing to work for about 2 hours. One of the minigames (the rhythm one) seems to be buggy too, with buttons not registering where they should. Given that it came out 6 months ago, they clearly don’t have any interest in fixing the issues. The third act of the game is also a bit of a mess, seems a bit rushed and the actual ending is just very narratively frustrating. My wife and I still enjoyed playing it but I honestly can’t really recommend it; just play Night in the Woods again if you haven’t already.
I liked most of the game, but the change of pace at the ending felt very jarring. One moment the game is a cozy slice of life adventure, and then people are dropping dead on the streets from internal bleeding.
This game is not worth it. It has glitchy gameplay and broken mechanics. The ending ruined the whole game for me because it ends with a “oh everything is now awful and ruined “ it’s not worth it
At risk of sounding like a Zoomer with a microscopic attention span… HOLY HELL WAS THIS GAME BORING. This was supposed to give you a glimpse into the life of a healthcare worker, but it instead has bland dialogue that goes ON and ON and ON and ON. It’s like the script was written by an AI that was requested to sound quirky. I get that this is supposed to be a “feels” game with minimalist relaxing music… but the theme is healthcare and it takes FOREVER for anything even vaguely interesting to happen. I love the visuals but just couldn’t vibe with the text, which is the biggest reason to play this game.
Did. An. A. I. Write. This. Review? Because it sure sounds like a list of features dully mixed in to a stiffly spoken word sallad for my mindless consumption.
Far more likely you're just a media-addicted consoomer and the words are only blending together to you. For those of us with lives, it's a short and concise review.
I'm so seeing the Night in the Woods influence. Seeing how much I loved that game, I'm probably gonna pick this up at some point.
same devs, no?
@@melxb Not the same devs, but very much inspired by it. I talked to the devs at Gamescom and they said it was the main influence^^
@@TheCrytterion oh ok nice 👍
Only less bleak, which is kinda what I need rn!
Btw some of the night in the woods devs are making a new game called revenant hill

It's Got that Night In The Woods Vibe.
They’ve no doubt used it as the framework
I needed a follow-up after Night in the Woods and I'm glad this is excellent!
Look up revenant hill! It's not out yet but it's by some of the people behind night in the woods
@@leftovernoise Yup already on my radar for when it comes out.
They canceled the game :/
You’ve played them both? How are they?? They are on my wishlist and I’ve never tried them- they kinda gave me cold weather, autumn energy.

Maybe they didn't run into any.
I had to play though the snowball fight like 3 times because it kept freezing and then it didn't give me my trophy after 🙄
Awesome! This review set the game on my radar!

At 00:46 looks like a reference to Oxenfree
Cool, I’m really looking forward to playing this one in the autumn!
Great review! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I played and enjoyed the demo many months ago after seeing the trailer in an indie showcase stream on here.
Wait, this is *not* Night in the Woods 2?!
This gives me Spiritfarer vibes. I'm very interested in this one.
The Turtle is voiced by JK Simmons Right?
I thought it was made by the same people who did night in the woods at first but hey still gotta support the german gaming industry

Loved this game. The music, the art, the story ❤

It seems this game was able to receive a bj... THIS GUY gave it one! 😂
This is a game I'll be just watching and falling asleep to not playing. Looks very boring.
I’m all for emotional narratives and comfort games, but this one is rather boring unfortunately. (At least to me.)
This looks wonderful! Thank your for sharing :D
It's a fun game but it's also really buggy and freezes a lot 😩
this sounds pretty good actually
Love these allegorical fable games with killmonday and night in the woods vibes

Or, and hear me out - you're an idiot. Did an AI write this as well?
Ironic
you're sure right about the you being mindless part
