  • Here is the first in my series of videos reviewing Purl Soho yarns!
    I have been a Purl Soho customer since around 2016, so I've used a lot of their yarns over the years. I'll be releasing videos on individual yarns, so that interested viewers can pick and choose which ones to watch (rather than sitting through an enormous long video about everything I've ever used in my knitting).
    I hope these videos are useful, and please let me know if there is anything else you'd like me to cover in my discussions on each yarn. All questions and comments welcome!

    Purl Soho’s website was where I ended up when my knitting journey restarted. I fell in love with their designs and yarn. I sadly never got to visit their store since I was far from the east coast. I always dreamed I would someday go. I really appreciate these yarn reviews for Purl Soho yarn.

      I wanted to add: I really love Purl Soho yarn and shop from them almost exclusively! I sometimes wonder why their yarn isn't more popular. Is it the cost?
      They also have a wonderful website that makes it a pleasure just to browse all the time!
      As much as I love them, I want to branch out and experience other yarns!
      Thanks for sharing your reviews and I love knowing someone else that loves Purl Soho, too.

      I’m so glad you like them too! Their store was really something to behold when it was open - I miss it 🥹 but I’m glad they still have the online business.
      I think cost is part of the reason they aren’t more popular, although if you look through their selection they definitely have a bunch of affordable yarns (Linen Quill and the Knitting Yarn come to mind). Part of it is I don’t think they’re as well trafficked in knitting social media - I feel like Sandnes Garn and Knitting for Olive really dominate there

      I am familiar with Sandnes Garn because of ravelry and especially the La Petite Knit designer. I don't know how to get this yarn though. Please tell me what you know about this yarn? Is there an American brand that you would compare it to? Is it high end?@@easilyknitfluenced

      Also, it's been cool to watch Purl Soho (at least through the website) go from carrying other brands of yarn to slowly introducing their own lines, and as of late exclusively selling all their own yarns. I don't know what's more fun, yarn or knitting?
      Can't wait for more yarn reviews!

    I've been wanting to knit with this yarn for a long time and just got a bunch in their spring cleaning sale. Going to try the 4 corner blanket. Thanks for this video! Please do more reviews if you can :)

    The sweater looks great on you. you did an amazing job on it. I'm scared of the pattern myself. lol

      You could always make the kid version if you want to de-risk it! Petite Knit does a great job of writing clear, easy to follow instructions for her beginner patterns. I guess that’s why she’s been so successful

    Hi. I wondered if you ever encountered knots either in skeins or in the cones? I just happened upon a knot when I was winding a skein.
    Also, you mentioned using this for kitchen towels, etc. I wanted to knit some hand towels or something for a gift. How well does it absorb water? Maybe from your experience washing items you have knit you can tell?
    Also, can you compare it to other similar cotton yarns? Is it more expensive? Do you rate this higher in quality than others?
    Just wondering your opinion: if I should just go for it and buy some yarn for their very pretty homewares designs.
    (By the way they introduced a bunch of new colors! Exciting!)

      So I never noticed any knots at all and I’ve knit with it several times. It also washes and dries pretty well, but I’m not sure about absorbency since I’ve never used it as a dish towel

    Can I please have info about the sweater you were wearing? What yarn did you knitted with?

      This is the Anker Sweater by Petite Knit and I knitted it out of Sandnes Garn Sunday held double. I can’t for the life of me find which color it was though 😫

    One more thing- isn’t this listed as a “sport” weight?

    • @easilyknitfluenced
      @easilyknitfluenced  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To me, it feels like more of a fingering but depending on how tight or loose you knit it could be a light sport! My experience is that the yarn doesn’t always match what weight they say it is (at least when I knit with it)

    • @natalieglickman1445
      @natalieglickman1445 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is good to know! I used to always think of it as fingering weight for some reason, until I recently reached for it for a project and read the label.@@easilyknitfluenced
