When you are born somewhere, you take it for granted that you will always live there, instead destiny takes you even across the ocean, and that's when you regret not living each day as if it were your last. Maybe one day, I will be back and Quebec City will be on my list... way on top. But for now, I will enjoy this video to the maximum. Thanks for posting it!!! Merci
I have just returned from vacation in the northeast, and of course that I visited this beautiful city. It was great, the night we arrived it was snowing, so the day after the city looked awesome covered by a white blanket. My kids had a chance to play in the snow (I threw at them several snowballs). It's been one of our most memorable family vacations, thanks for posting this video, it brings great memories of our short but well spent visit to this jewel of America.
I cannot believe that I was born in Mtl and lived there for 27 and never visited Quebec. Now that I live in Italy, I regret not going there. Thanks for showing this video!
Fantastique!!
The content of the video was very good and the music was well chosen for the types of scenes shown. I thought the video quality could have been better (use MP2 format so it does displays better on TH-cam). I think the people are what make Quebec interesting and lively. Please include some of the street performers and the local flavor. Include the active lifestyle of Quebec. It is a city of passion and vitality. I do not say this to be unkind, I feel that you did a good job.
@JewelBocks oh that's nice... here in the Philippines we don't have snow.. we have summer and rainy season.... 2 seasons only... i want to experience snow...
Québec gives tremendous support to its local artists, its own tv productions are always more popular than foreign ones (american productions reign supreme in Canada), its singers and comedians can manage to make a career in the province alone. All things that indicate just how vibrant Québec's culture is and in contrasts how Canada's is simply a northern appendice of the US's.
i wanna live in qbc city! i already went once.. and it was awesome. i think people who find it boring is cuz' they found the lamest company there cuz' i made the gratest friends there and i didnt get bored not even one day.. i'll go again.. thanx for this video..!
@RoyalistCavalier in canada quebec are in the most important place with ottawa we are the entrance of the St-laurent and we control mariritme in canada entrance. we have too one of the 2 airbase in canada most of ground base. military research center, and de special operation troups post...
it's a charming city and it's most certainly worth a visit, however, I don't know If I'd like to live there. There isn't much space, the streets are so narrow and it seems practically impossible to avoid other pedestrians. Maybe other cities in canada and in the usa lack the charming and european flare but, on the other hand , they've got plenty of space, wide streets, the houses are not close to one another.
@davipro Here is a fact on "British persectuion of French Quebecois". Under colonial rule, the British colonial authorities appointed many French Quebecois to posisitons of immense power like appointing them as Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, Mayors of Montreal and Quebec City, Members of Parliament of both Quebec and Canada, appointing them to cabinent ministries in both the provincial and federal governments. The British also knighted 31 French Quebecois Knights of the British Empire as reward
I lived in Quebec city my entire life and don't know anyone who can't understand english.. sure some people have a hard time speaking it but everyone understands
I have a suggestion for anyone about to view this video. Turn the sound off for this video and open a new browser to youtube. Search for La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf and let that play while watching this video. If you do, you will get an inkling of what its like to be in QC. [you can re-run the song twice for a full 6 minutes.]
@MrMAHP Here is a list of former French colonies that were taken over by the British in which the British protected and secured the French language by making it a co-official language along with English. Here is the list! 1)Proivince of Quebec (1763-1791), 2)Province of Lower Canada (1791-1841), 3)Province of Canada (1841-1867), 4)Dominion of Canada (1867-1931 and beyond), 5)Province of Quebec (1867-1931 and beyond to 1974), 6)Dominica, 7)Saint Lucia, 8)Sechelles, 9)Channel Islands, 10)Mauritcus
@mralanv No that's just the old quebec part. The rest of quebec is just like any other city. Quebec city is nothing like this video represents just old quebec. I was born and raised there.
alex, I comment whenever I feel I can add a precision, correct something or feel like giving my opinion. It doesn't take as much time as you think, as you probably know, TH-cam notices you when someone replies to one of your comments after all. It might not be accomplishing much but then again perhaps it does: everybody uses TH-cam. I do not cut and paste but I do repeat myself a lot, granted. I'm starting to believe I should start doing that though.
@ataryo No one is native to the America's son. Native Americans did not originate in the America's, they originated in Asia and to be prescise in Siberia. Native Americans (Native Siberians) migrated to the America's during the last ice age (Younger Dryas) which occured about 10,000 years ago. These people walked on a bridge of ice that connected modern day Siberia (Russian Federation) to Alaska (United States). BTW. The first people in the America's were the Solutreans from Europe!
@Bouddh4 First: The main reason for the American Civil War (1860-1865) was not slavery but State's Rights. Second: I never said that Coriscia belonged to Germany, I did say that Alsace-Lorraine belonged to Germany. Alsace-Lorraine was colonized first by the Alamanni a Germanic tribe in the 4th century. Corisica belonged to Italy, however the Italian Republic of Genoa sold Corsica to France in 1764 and it belongs to France and not Italy. The same goes with Quebec belonging to Canada END OF STORY
Quebec City is also a city of outdoor sports. La plainte du St-Laurent s'arrete a cette limite..you have plenty of mountains around for xc skiing, mountain biking and fun. By comparison, Montreal has nothing like Quebec City. Montreal is completely flat and no landscape at all with only 1 mountain in the middle ...Choose Quebec City if you can ! :)
@ataryo The British protected the French language in former French colonies that became British colonies. The British established both English and French over such colonies as Canada, Saint Lucia, Dominica, The Seychelles, Mauriticus, Vanatu and the Channel Islands. Such laws as Bill 22 (Official Language Act) and Bill 101 (Charter of the French Language) were unnessary to protect the French language in Quebec, the Constitution Act of 1867 and the Quebec Act of 1774 already did that.
Vous dites : "as a Canadian province. your numbers would be entirely different as an independent country" Tout à fait d'accord avec cette affirmation.
i lived in Quebec for seven months and i've never fell more in love with a place in my life...
this video made me so homesick!
