British Rail in 1991 - Hereford and Craven Arms

- Scenes taken by Malcolm Wrigley during 1991 in the Hereford and Craven Arms area. Many scenes were taken during the Hereford Rails Festival on May 5th 1991, including associated excursions on the lines from Hereford to Ledbury and Abergavenny. Look out for some unusual and 'one-off' liveries on locomotives.
Dad quite often worked the steel trains from Hereford to Salop. Before the job was taken over by Hereford men. Managed to get a cab ride with him , on the last steel worked by Salop men.
Sadly no 37s on it, just a bloody type5 (class56), as dad called them. Lol.
Hindsight is a horrible thing !! All those trains we took for granted back then .

Lol......my dad could be driving any of these. I'm just he was on the Loudest most claggy train. He was a Salop driver. Nice vid mate. Glad you uploaded it.

Thanks Ian. It is such a shame we didn't have better quality gear in this period, but one thing that struck me whilst editing Malcolms footage was the fantastic sound quality. I've got some of my own footage from Shrewsbury in the late 80's so I'll make an effort and get it out there for you. Hopefully your Dad may appear! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@PhilThomasTrains thanks for the reply, glad you understood my comment on camera gear. 😀. Definitely camt knock the sound quality. I'm just glad we had the Loco's. Modern stuff doesn't have the same character or soul.

Wow! I wasn't a fan of the Sectorisation liveries, but it's fantastic to see what was gathered together at Hereford for this event! Was the yard open to visitors at any time? Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes the yard acted like a depot for the weekend.
