Would be cool to see Woolworths, K-Mart, Sears memorabilia too!Old malls would be great repurposed senior facilities with lots of room to walk or scooter around, throw pennies into those big mall fountains and encourage family and community to visit too.
We are so glad you stumbled upon us, Jason! Town Square really IS amazing! It brings joy to our participants and relief and peace of mind to their family caregivers each and every day!
They should have health shakes at the Diner using raw organic meal replacement powder. My grandfather who suffered from Alzheimer's bounced back after I started to give him these shakes (along with a healthy diet of course). We got ours from Garden of Life. They have chocolate and vanilla, and they taste great too! (I'm not a spokesperson for any company) I just fully believe that diet plays a key role in brain health. I love this concept, I love the 50's, I just wish I could open up a center of my own!
Thank you, David, for your kind words about our center! It is incredible to witness the joy this environment brings to our participants with dementia! And yes, a healthy diet plays an important role in brain health!
I love the idea, but what about their safety? I work in a dementia unit, and there is no way we would have bowling pins, and balls for a tripping hazard. Also noticed so many dangerous items, like choking hazards with beaded necklaces and such. Also they could hurt themselves or others with pool sticks and pool balls. True dementia units have people who pick, grab and tear at things, and must have eyes on them constantly. This is a beautiful place, but more aimed for independent living. Not dementia.
