My dad played for North Middlesex back in his time.. He got off the bus at Ayer HS for a basketball game (middle of dead winter) and saw Joe running with a ball in his hands around the track... My dad talks about that moment like he saw Jordan
Annapolis King David's Pacquiao Al Capone the list goes on and one that is from Detroit you know who I'm saying little running backs looking for the gaps and opening to get a first down and touchdown
I remember going to Pace University to watch the Gmen in pre season training. It was Joe's rookie season and I was there for their first full pads scrimmage. On one of his first carries they ran him to LT's side and Lawrence just crumpled him. Welcome to the NFL kid. Anyway, what I loved about Joe and most of the rest of that Giants team (with the exception of perhaps McConkey who just couldn't help himself) was that he scored he'd just give the ball back to the ref and run back to the sideline. These days players celebrate every 3rd play of the game as if they'd won the Super Bowl. Joe Morris and Mark Bavaro. Stoic and punishing. What a team.
Joe Morris and Mark Bavaro - essentially 90% of the Giants offense during those days, or so it seemed. I can't imagine the pressure on the opposing offenses to know that they could receive the ball only once or if they're lucky twice during each quarter!!!
They were from a military family (FORT DEVENS, MA) and their dad worked at the local Post office.. They were the most DISCIPLINED, and RESPECTED family around.. Their father is a LEGEND locally, and the Morris' sons followed suit .. Probably the best family unit out of central MA
Back when it was a man’s game. Joe was small but strong as a beast he could squat almost 600 lbs. met him once at an autograph thing. nice and humble as can be...i asked him to sign something for my redskins fan uncle he smiled big and said “that ain’t right, doggin’ on you uncle”.
Joe was small in stature but had a heart as big as Giant stadium!

My favorite Giant of all time. He just made my happy at a time I needed it in my youth.
Little one's make history little Joe Morris

Well earned. Man's a legend n my book. Champion.
Met Joe myself, back in the nineties. What was striking was how a man of such stature and accomplishment was so humble.
Humble is being a true champion of the people
First college game I saw as a freshman in the Rutgers Bands was in 82 against Syracuse. Joe Morris was their RB
That was 81 I was there Joe Morris got drafted in 82
I was waiting and waiting to hear the audio from Dick Lynch and Jim Gordon! Finally heard it!
Thanks for enjoying the videos!

Well stated. The NYGs of the 80s and early 90s were special.

john Connell thank you for enjoying the videos
Joltin’ Joe had some of his best games against Washington
My fave running back ever..I'm from Syracuse
Me too. I was a Raiders fan in the early 80s (loved their uniforms) but when Morris became a NYG I switched my allegiance.

For two years this guy was the best back in the league. The Redskins signed a guy Jaret Patterson who reminds me of Joe Morris.
Hope the giants can be good like this again
An All Time Great NY Giant. Thank you Joe!
“Your Father’s Classic” as I’m showing my 15 year old son one of the all time great Giants. You can’t beat that.
It's Michigan man here go blue baby used to run hard for bo back in the day man
My favorite as a kid🌟🌟🌟
For y, all OLE SCHOOL NFL fans remember when HE ran OVER Dave Butz 😲😲
Yes Joe was short but he wasn't small
my favorite rb as a kid
Short but lifted with his oline
In the beginning of the 86 season he carried the Giants offense until Phil Sims played much better and he became the superbowl MVP!
Syracuse alum
He was great on punt and kick returns.
Great hands, very reliable.
