    Great effects on the intro. Good information. I am in the process of getting a trailer for my new tractor, and your experience was helpful. I could show you the importance of getting fasteners that are rated for treated wood, especially the newer formula treated wood. When I rebuilt my deck, the original screws were less than 1/16: diameter when they were replaced. The chemicals dissolved the fastener. I also used trailer deck screw similar to the ones you used, except in stainless. I did not have good luck with them, but yours worked much better. Thanks for the referral.

    You can't power a winch off the pigtail itself but add a battery to the trailer and the pigtail will charge the battery for the winch while the truck is hooked up. Another thing I did was mounted a switch and relay up to my winch battery that activates the trailer brakes while loading heavy equipment that keeps the trailer from surging back and forwards, especially helpful on 2wd trucks and it works like a charm to keep that stress off of the trucks parking brakes and also the parking pawl if an auto.

    Hey Daniel, Nice Job Replacing the Wooden Deck, Light housing, new LED Lights & Installing the Jack & D Rings.
    I have a Kaufman 18 footer Car Hauler with Tandem Axels & a Diamond Plated Steel Deck.
    Now that you have Nice new Wood on your Trailer; Don't forget to maintain it by Power Washing the Deck & Staining it every other year to maintain the look & preserve the wooden deck.
    I also have the underside of my Trailer Rust Proofed Sprayed every other year to prevent it from rusting.
    To avoid spraying Rust Proof, I am contemplating spraying the underside with Bed liner Paint. This stuff is Indestructible!
    Thanks for taking the time to share your Video.

    Very nice job guys, I will be starting a redo on my trailer I built in 2008, I'm doing some mods and a repaint, I also would like to help explain the screws you used, these types of screws and sizes are my favorite to use, I did notice the way you explained the size of the screws that you used, to help to explain a little better, as listed on your screw box it reads, 1/4-20X3" this means that the screws are 1/4" in diameter - 20 means that there are 20 threads per inch - and 3 as you know is the screws are 3 inches long. the bigger the middle number is, it's the same rule if it says 8, 24, 32, or whatever that number is, it still means threads per inch, I hope this helps. Thanks for the video Kudoes

    Love the cloning in the intro.
    Great improvements on the trailer, but why did you choose to put the new deck on first ?
    Seems that it would have smarter if you stripped the old deck off, performed all steel mods, touch ups and paint, then put the new deck on last.

    great video, Xlnt job on the welds. great idea on swapping out the front 7pin harness those are always the first thing to go haywire since they get the most use in and out and thrown around when unplugging. fyi , your not going to run a winch off the extra power wire in the plug though, too small of gauge to handle a winch.

I have really enjoyed your videos and have about watched all of them now over the last 3 days. You've got me inspired to go out into my big shop and run pex for my air compressor now. Just trying to do some more research now about what all I need and how I want to run it. Wish you were my neighbor! haha.

    Question for you sir. I have a car hauler that Id like to use on occasion to take my zero turn in for service. My issue is the spacing between the steel channel cross ties used to make the ramps are too wide for the front tires on the mower. Trying to drive the mower up the ramps is very uncomfortable at best. Any ideas on how to modify the ramps so its a bit easier to on/off load vehicles with smaller wheels?ThanksSteve

    This video is much appreciated. I basically have the utility version of your trailer. Mine is an 18ft tandem Acker flatbed . I have the two ramps but have never loaded a car. I was wondering what what mods you might recommend and what would you think of some d-rings in the middle of the wheel wells? That seems to be the spot I always need an anchor point.

    A much easier way to put your boards on is to cut the three tack welds at the back and take the retaining bracket off. Then lay your boards out and replace the retaining bracket and weld back in place. Keep you from having the jack up and bend each board into place.
    Nice intro by the way.

      i always cut the front retainer out and replace it with angle drill 2 doles in the angle and the trailer and weld nuts to the trailer to bolt the angle to makes it so much easier to replace the decking i do this to every trailer i buy weather it needs decking or not

    I also put the trailer support jacks on the rear sides but ran into an unexpected problem 1 day. Went to let them down n crank handle was missing on 1 side. Had to replace jack (Not cheap) A simple $1 bungee cord hooked onto handle, wrapped around jack & other end hooked back to handle keeps handle from hanging down & getting torn off or catching on anything. Simple, cheap fix. Works for me & might for someone else. Jacks are hard to put down w/o a handle. ;-)

    Man nice work on the intro bad ass a couple of things I want to add 1 you spend a good amount of time making sure things were done right and you blown all that nice wiring sky high with those scotch connectors at least get some butt connectors that have the heat shrink build in to the they cost just a little bit more but will save you a crap load of time later by having all of your lights working like there supposed to 2 do not try and run a winch on that extra wire you now have a wench is going to pull way to much thru that little wire however you can use that wire to charge a battery other than that great job and keep up the good work

    What is the gvw and make. My Jackson 16' is only 7000lb and too light duty. The frame is 2x4 thin wall tube. My local welding shop said frame thickness should be 3/16" not 1/8". I've already straightened the frame twice and welded and reinforced cracks. Some times you have to use what you have to get the job done. I need to either build or buy at least a 10,000 gvw but the funds never seen be there.

    • @DanielWoodell

      So turns out that it’s only a 10,000 pound trailer, that reading comes from the axles in the video I said it was the 14,000 pound that’s not accurate. What are the comments one of the guys explain the five lug nuts that means that each axles on the rate for 5000 pounds. I don’t know model trailer I need to getting this off of craigslist this is the second time that I had to refinish it

    • @arnoldromppai5395
      @arnoldromppai5395 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 7000 Lb custom trailers I build are all made using 2-1/2 x 5 x3/16 they are properly engineer out, all factory trailers today are poorly made and not even welded properly that is why they sell so cheap, well a lot of dealer over inflate too, you have nothing but problems if you use them at there so called rating, cant tell you how many I have had to repair were the toughs brake off at the trailer deck, just welded to the front cross tube only, what happens when that flex's a lot there. as a welder by trade. ,back years ago when I first seen them trailers I would put my riding tractors on it, so I started custom building a good trailer that will carry saftly that 7 or 10,000 Lb load, I don't go any heavier because with a normal licese you can not tow ny load over 10,000 Lbs unless you have a class A

    • @lastchancecris
      @lastchancecris 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @DanielWoodell
      @DanielWoodell  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a Kubota L3200, with BH77 backhoe. I’m a lot harder on it than it is really made for. It has held up well. I did buy it new. The tractor and back hoe where $27,000. I have made grades many times and also got a few more implements. At this point I have had it for about 3 years, and spent about $35,000 on it and all the implements. That does not include any of the maintenance for having to fix the things that I damaged.
