  • I am showing you how to photograph incredible colourful bubble images with simple means in 2020. With my tips you can easily bring your photography (or macro photography) to the next level and capture creative soap bubble photos. After experimenting for month, I finally found the best mixture to get stable, unbreakable bubbles for a gold dust effect of psychedelic images.

    • @nawra.a.a
      @nawra.a.a 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anotherperspective3076 it's just like when you make caramel, when the sugar melts then you leave it for few minutes it hardens in a new shape, the pan's shape. That's what happened here, the vanilla syrup's container keeps it warm, when it was shaped in a bubble form and exposed to the air it hardened in its new shape, bubble.

    • @nawra.a.a
      @nawra.a.a 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johonyg1236 it was crystallized. Because the washing liquid of which the bubble was made was mixed with vanilla syrup. The latter being containing sugar itself caused this result.

    Excellent video! Some of those shots looked like a gas giant planet -very cool. Another thing to try: Turn that cup over, put some soapy water in it, and blow a lot of smaller bubbles. Then use a macro lens with a magnification from 2x to 4x and focus inside the bubble mass. The air gaps between the bubbles will look like wires.

    I am a chemist, and photographer. The colors are generated by thin film interference - the liquid film thickness is on the order of the wavelength of light (100s of nm), the light will bounce and selectively reflect back out. I think a few things are going on. You have a surfactant (soap) that changes the surface tension of the solution and enables the bubbles to form the very thin sheets that cause the thin film interference. When you added more syrup to the solution this probably changed the surface tension some generating a thicker film, and probably the more significant thing is that sugar has a very different index of refraction. The combination caused the big shift in color when you added more syrup. If you want to learn more ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin-film_interference
    Great job, I am going to have to try this myself!

    Cool variation on this theme. Colors inspired by your shirt, perhaps? Suggest that bubble should be strong enough to withstand an additional prop in the photo - like a pencil point, flower petal or insect. You get the idea. Otherwise you should really get outside more😁.

    Tried this today using the sugar and water, also used extension tubes 1 and 2. Got great colours and the bubbles were stable.
    Only thing I had issues with was ghosting around the circumference of the bubbles. I put that down to the filter on the front of the lens to stop the splash. And the lack of ability to control the Fnumber. Hey ho will have to try again.😅

    When making syrup would you go 30 percent sugar, 70 percent water? or 50/50?

    • @anotherperspective3076
      @anotherperspective3076  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd start with 50/50 and boil it till it gets thick, if its too thick you can add water afterwards

    I was wandering is it possible to silver plate a soap bubble using silver nitrate?

    • @value8035
      @value8035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anotherperspective3076 Mmm it is just a hunch, probably far fetched. If you search youtube for how to make a Silver nitrate mirror, you will get some chemical procedure leading to a fully reflective surface by chemically depositing silver on a (typically glass) surface.
      And earlier today I came across the following video and realized, there is no high reflective bubbles. th-cam.com/video/tjAZbo0jb8Q/w-d-xo.html
      Hence I presented you this Idea. :)
