Alright so, last year (or the year before I forgot). MvM had a bug where it dropped empty fabricators with no weapon, and empty killstreak kits. Which then could be applied to ANY item.
This includes keys, crates, hats, unusuals, weapons. Anything.
These still exist and are priced at atleast 30 keys or more. :^)

As a hammer mapmaker, using regular stair props' collision meshes can cause a few issues. first off, jumping while running up regular stairs can cause the player to stop in place during the jump. secondly, splash damage on stairs will be calculated incorrecly due to rays that would have gone up the stairs hitting the next step upwards of where the rocket hit. instead, using an invisible block (called a brush) as a ramp and making the stair prop not actually have collisions solves most of these problems without looking too wrong. The only strange effect is having pipes roll down the stairs when they should drop off each step, but what can you do.
As a hammer mapmaker, I suggest using playerclips.

7 years later and still the one of the first videos that pops up when you look up anything about trolldier. I know Mr. Smith doesnt like his old videos, but its still helpful! I learned something new about trolldier today.
Honestly I wish this tutorial was out when I started to learn this jump not only are you specific you go through each step and what's happening good stuff. Double thumbs up!

This tutorial helped me do the classic stair slide in 15-20 mins
I couldn't do it at first, but you should probably mention that when you're at the ramp you should press d so you don't hit the wall next to it, you won't notice you hit it but it will slow you down. I was just about to record and cut a 5 minute video of me trying to do the jump and send it to someone when I figured it out.
this helped me so much, I actually pulled this off in a private server on my third try. then I couldn't get it again for another 20 minutes.. XD
went back and rewatched the video to see where you were making your first jump at, gonna keep practicing and hopefully I don't get bodyblocked by a random invis spy the first time I try it on a server. lol

its hard tho its why i can only jump and not do any cool tricks like pogo or wall jumps.
i also jump better with the black box, direct hit or stock than with the rocket jumper... i have a strange life i guess

I’ve taken like a week of my time and I went from shmuck who didn’t realize that he needed to crouch to the Mach 7 patriot with a meme spoon that messes up every now and then. Now, granted, I am a leaderboard smasher in the other tf2 where you can go Mach 7 - titanfall 2 - and I know airstrafing, the concept of b-hopping, quirks of the source engine, etc. but... I’m proud of this past week. My hands are numb, thanks for asking.
tbf, bhopping and air strafing is useful for other things in TF2
@@RealNick04 yeah surfing enemy projectiles is one of the most useful tools for normal games.
@@zachrobinson8357 Yeah, it's really useful. You can also bhop as a Medic to dodge bullets, do a rollout or escape. It even works with Engi, Sniper, and the escape plan when you have low hp. It doesn't work with scout

Something that I think is a good point to bring up while only a little bit related to the video, if you were a sniper and you see someone running trolldier there's something I would recommend doing. Assume that they have mantreads and a shotgun, yes I know that they can't have mantreads and a shotgun but it helps me be prepared for both situations whether they have or don't have a shotgun.

I made a variation of the original stair slide:
You jump off the crate- BUT you shoot your rocket lower so you fly higher than normal.
Then, you pogo off the rock.
The last rocket should be easy- just shoot at your feet when you are at the top of the stairs. Hope this helped.

Awesome tutorial! I used this tutorial when I was starting to learn longer jumps and it proved invaluable. Do you think you could do a tutorial for some more advanced jumps sometime in the future?
After being plagued with failures on that jump. I've finally managed to get it semi-consistently. Here's a tip about the first and second rocket: After the first shot, you should land somewhere between the back of the left rock and the base of the stairs, but don't land right at the base. You should also be traveling pretty low to the ground. The thing that kept me from getting enough speed was the second rocket. I've never figured out how to pogo, so when I shot, I was practically looking straight down. Instead, shoot forward to get a serious speed boost.
The pogo really hindered my ability to jump, and I would seriously recommend practicing the first and second rocket. When you mess up, use the base of the stair to jump and pogo back to the crates; it's good practice for the pogo.
I would seriously recommend practicing the first and second rockets. Another tip is to keep away from the left wall as much as you can since it lessens your chance of slamming right into the fence after the stair. If you get enough speed, but don't do the third rocket, you should land roughly where the red payload is. Bonus points if you can land near the red payload lift in 2 rockets.
The third rocket isn't too bad. If you do a more vertical jump, you would land on the tower but behind the wall, out of the sniper sightline. If you get nailed the third rocket and get that angle, you can land almost on top of the health pack.
The fourth rocket heavily relies on how much speed you have and how you shot the third rocket. If you try to pogo it, you would land in 1 of 3 possible places: Bottom floor (near blue payload spawn), second floor (roughly on the tracks or under sniper ledge), or sniper ledge. You can guage yourself on that one.

Another amazing jump is on the red crates and straif to the top of the rocks and pogo to the top of the stairs and pogo again and if u do it right you will be going faster then the ramp slide and get to the blu battlements (this is way more difficult)

i've been doing the jump from the front and here's how i do it.so shoot the front, turn forwards, and dont press anything for a split second and once you face the right direction. once u do, hold a until you reach the stairs and hold d for the rest of the way through. its basically the same but i suck so i can't pull it off that much (about %60 of the time i make it)

I think the slide works because you are moving horizontally into the stair but vertically not out of it, so collision makes you go up, but you still have upwards velocity so the game thinks you can't be grounded. This would be very similar to the stair clip in Super Mario World and Terraria.

i like to think sliding as like a reverse falling-off-the-roof. since the physics engine makes you slide off a steep slope downwards, but if you enter it with enough speed then the game will make you slide upwards. it's basically that, falling off a ramp but in reverse

One big part to this is skipping. The issue is that, like a sync, you need to have a good idea of when to shoot. If you're going really fast, you need to shoot in from of you to get that skip-speedpogo-thing. If you're a little slow shooting in front will stop you so you have to shot at your feet.
