I love you guys, I’m a 72 year old serious listener, always used magnepans, starting with the mg1, last pair the 2.5’s. I’m still using a meridian 203 dac & a Cambridge audio cd2 as a transport & an aural symphonics as-one cable, I’ve borrowed other dacs from friends because of my age I would be wasting my time buying a new dac, I did compare soundstage & imaging, my old elac’s ub5 totally disappear in my room, of course with the right recordings

I just received my Eversolo DMP--A6 ($1199 Australian) that I purchased for my secondary system, wherein my primary system has a very expensive Cambridge Audio Edge NQ pre-amp and network streamer (present RRP $8999 Australian). Purely from a sound point of view, I'll be damned if I could tell which of the two sound better. Love them both!

We hope everyone is enjoying this long weekend! Thank you so much for joining us this morning and if you would be so kind, please give this video a like. It truly helps! What movie or music are you watching and listening to today?
So you bought a "Dad " no a " Dax" oh finally a "DAC" . Looks like my captions are having trouble hearing. And you speak so articulately. Keep up the good work. I like your channel. The reviews with Kristi are really good. I always took my wife's input and always ended up with better sound.
I liked this video a lot ,and to be honest not for the eversolo particularly (even as...I'm curious either about this product )but mostly for the talk and the fun and the general analysis..also I do like to see...the..other eversolo reviewed ,just for fun ! Thank you
Good morning Andrew and kristi. I 100% agree with your take on DACs. Personally i use a SCHIIT modi in my office, a Jotunheim with the built in 9028 on my desk, and a Bluesound Node in my garage. I love all of them and honestly have no desire to spend more on "oscillators and jitter reduction". I like kristi prefer integrated components like the bluesound node with its built in streamer and bluetooth, or my jotunheim +9028 with a built in preamp for my monitors and headphone amp for my celestee.
Couldn’t agree more, I was almost ready to get out of the hobby due to listening fatigue in wired headphones. Took an expensive gamble on a Chord Mojo 2 and was blown away at the difference. Everything I’ve plugged into it sounds better, and even friends not into gear comment on to the sound. There’s a lot of little differences but what jumped out to me was hearing the tone/pitch of every note come thru more clearly and enjoyably. Would love to see Andrew and Kristi discuss one.
@Ferbeldeyberb Using the Gustard R26 R2R Dac the sound is more complete in all aspects of frequency response, tonality, imaging, separation, timbre, proper air and decay around instruments and voices. Both the bass and treble are faster with more defined layers in a larger overall sense of space. Deeper and larger sounding. Nothing seems missing now and I hear tiny percussion sounds, etc. vividly and layered about the vast soundstage, where before these sounds either were not heard at all on my other Dacs or were just not well defined and blended in. Not a "wall of sound" image now, but more of a 3D background that just sounds more accurate and natural at the same time. Really satisfied with the upgrade 👌
I have 2 DAC's. An iFi Zen DAC V2 and a Loxjie D30. Both are connected to my laptops. For games and media consumption and both act as Roon endpoints. I'm very happy with them.
Nice video and a great review. I bought the A6. Was going to replace both streamer and dac and I got a preamp in the same time 😀. The hardest thing is the waiting 😅.
I was surprised to see you review this. I’ve owned this DAC for a few months and I use it in my headphone setup, HD800S, with a Violectric amp. This DAC is great and is just like Andrew described. It doesn’t color the sound in any way, retains great amount of detail and is really engaging to listen to. I love that I can also physically move it around and use it as a standalone headphone setup when I want. If anyone is into DAC measurements, this is also one of the best measured DACs at ASR.
Absolutely love your reviews. I hope we can get a review of the DMP A6. I was researching the HiFi Rose 150b, but the eversolo DMP A6 seems to be a much better value. I’ll get to hear the Rose soon, but really need to know more about eversolo.
I have the HiFi rose, without doubt the dmp A6 is cheaper. However, value is one of those funny things that only you can define. I use mine with Roon most of the time and it's the centre piece DAC. Takes tv /dvd via e arc hdmi. Takes cd transport via aes. Output line level is variable to suit downstream components. I use mine in a McIntosh system and am very pleased with it.
Yes, I would to see Kristi review the Ever Solo sound machine, white noise maker, baby monitor, etc. on camera! Please make it happen Andrew! Incidentally, this was another informative and humerus video! Keep up the great work!👍
The Eversolo looks like a great product and hub for a system. Since you mentioned how saturated the DAC market is right now, you should try a Schiit Bifrost 2/64 or Yggdrasil. They actually are doing some next-level digital engineering with those.
Great review! I appreciated the huge spectrum of gear you tested with the DAC. I am not in the market for a DAC (apologies for the reference, but you would have to pry the Pontus II from my cold dead hands), but the streamer/DAC version would be a top choice for me in its price range. Keep up the great work you two :)
I have both a Topping 70s and a Bifrost 2 DAC in my system and I have demo'ed a number of different DACs. It seems like DACs are a fairly subtle component, at least on lower to mid-end systems and likely not al the panacea that most people think it is P.S. baby monitor - are you hinting there's a 3rd audiophile coming to the channel? 😮
DMP-A6 streamer DAC is an awesome piece of kit for the money. The app is faultless and screen brings it all home. Dual ESS chipset and implementation makes for not overly bright, articulated listening. I use as streamer, as I prefer the AKM based neutral, more natural sound from my integrated.
For a high quality, complete solution, Eversolo should develop a quality two channel amp (class D?) with the exact styling and size as the Z8 and A6 (especially) he A6), and offer it as a package. If you have the A6 and only stream, add a pair of semi-full range speakers and you have an audiophile grade, compact sound system at moderate cost by audiophile standards.
My vote is for the DMP-A6 streamer DAC review. I understand the streaming capabilities and the phone app for the device were unusually rock solid, glitch-free and easy to use which sets it apart from the competition and is plainly unheard of in a new product. Last I heard, around the end of May, it was going to be priced around $899. My JRiver media server cost almost three times that.
I was on this path, buying a ton of DAC's until my RME ADI-2. Stopped dead in my DAC buying tracks. That was a year and a half ago and i havent even looked at another one... Until now. Lol.
Still enjoy my Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC with my Hegel H200. Bought the Mytek in 2018 for €450,- from a guy who just bought the Mytek Brooklyn with a €2000,- power suppy. He told me that the Mytek Brooklyn only sounded better than the Mytek 192 with the €2000,- power supply. 🤷🏽♂️ The Hegel H200 is the predecessor of the Hegel H300 and it does not contains a DAC. Hence why I use the Mytek 192. And I bought the Hegel secondhand for €1200,-. Together with my old and trusted Dynaudio’s Contour 2 mki and a Kef subwoofer, I enjoy music for a reasonable price. 👍🏼
Great review. I’m sure many of us who bought the DMP-A6 for 900ish (not the sleep machine :) ) are curious if we gave anything up in the DAC by spending the extra 200 for the streaming capabilities that include Apple Music. Not sure if they’ll keep the price under 900, though, for the DMP. Clearly a question for a future review or other commenters with experience or side by sides.
This review almost sold me on the Z8, but my friend told me about the A6. I didn't think it was what I wanted until I learned about the A8. I would skip the A6 and go straight to the A8 so you can compare the ESS Sabre ES9038Pro to the AKM4499 EX on a Femtosecond Clock system.
These days i just use my FiiO X3 II as a dac and I'm perfectly happy with it. It sounds great. Sure, its not a dedicated unit. But it does the job as well as I want it too. As an added bonus, its also a DAP. So i get the same sound on the go.
Interesting. Thx. I’d be interested to hear what you have say about the Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer (I like it) and it’s DAC vs. the DAC in the Z8 and others.
Wow, great review....but what dies it offer to those that use a bluesound node already? I have a preamp, streamer and dac in that with a roon ready device... Is the dac much better?
Great review team the Eversolo A6 retails for $899 the special edition is $1299 and yes it is a preamp, stremer, dac .Other reviewers have raved about the Basic A6 Compairing it to dacs of twice the price But it is out of stock everywhere .
Great video! I am definitely buying an EverSolo product. Only question is if I get this one or the DMP-A6 streamer (which has HDMI, two opticals, and a bigger screen). The regular A6 is a white noise machine apparently, that helps you sleep. How random is that for them to do as a niche offering aside from the DACs/Streamers. Either way, digging this new brand. Thanks for the video!
Another great video from you guys. However, oops from me because I recently purchased the Eversolo DMP-A6, which Andrew pointed out as the latest "thing" that folks are raving about and yes it`s fully justified, at its price point. As for wanting 10,000 likes for this video to get Kristi in front of the camera, Mr Robinson, I reckon you're risking domestic harmony should you insist. As much as we`d love to see Kristi, she`s a tough cookle and I don`t think 20,000 likes will persuade her otherwise.😊
The eversolo's were just coming out when I was looking at a Dac for my setup and weren't available in canada at the time. On the suggestion of my local hifi dealer, I took the plunge on a Zidoo Neo S. It allowed me to shrink my system by one box and I could not be happier with the sound or functionality of it. There are some limitations with it as the Google Play Store is not available due to some legislation, but for my purposes, it is near perfect.
14:30 this is honestly my favourite ever video interlude! 😂 To Kristi's defence IT DOES look like a baby device! 😄 Anyway, thanks for the great review as always. Now excuse me while I get every person I've ever met to hit like on this video...
I stopped wasting money on DAC’s and Streamers in just one hit. Get a Lyngdorf and you’ll stop chasing the products and start listening to the music. Best product ( besides my speakers ) I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a truck ton.
I too have recently fallen down the rabbit hole of external DACs (sigh) and I hate to say I’m enjoying it. I have my heart set on the Denafrips Venus II (I’d love to see y’all take a look at some of their offerings. I’m currently using the Topping E70 (ESS 9028 Pro) and it sounds pretty darn good with Qobuz via USB. 👍🏼
Got an Eversolo DMP-A6 a couple of weeks back, basically same thing but instead of headphone out it includes a streamer, just a fantastic value for money. Forget the Bluesound node, these Eversolos are just way way better ! They punch WAY WAY above their price point ! Seriously thinking about getting a second one just in case.. can't remember putting the Bluesound node crap back into my system. The TH-cam reviews ARE TRUE , totally ! On the NAIM new classic: Heard them at the Munich Hifi show this spring, not impressed, sorry NAIM. The DMP-A6 connected to my SuperNAIT 3 sounds fantastic though !
Not quite 2 years ago I upgraded my stand alone CD player to a transport/DAC set up. (Audiolab 6000 CDT + Musical Fidelity V-90). As a DAC the V-90 has all I need as far s connectivity is concerned. It is also nicely priced between the Cambridge DAC Magic 100 and 200. It suits my purposes.
I love your review on the Eversolo dac. I currently use the eversolo DMP-A6 streamer wich I absolutely love. Works like a charm with the looks of the Hifi Rose but for a better price and without the bugs. I can't wait for you to review the A-6. I'm curious if the Z-8 would be a welcome adition to my A-6 as an upgrade of the dac chips? Greatings Stefan from the Netherlands
RME ADI 2 FS is this dac, with almost every change you asked for. PEQ, tone controls, reference level headphone output, etc. it really is the Swiss Army knife of DAC’s
I have the RME (AKM version) on my Node n130, fed by usb, on my head-fi stack, and love the parametric eq presets for different headphones (dynamic or planar, etc.) and both the dac and headphone amp are absolutely fantastic. Even designed to work great with my sensitive IEMs. The new Gustard R26 R2R Dac is on my main speaker system and will be staying as the R2R is my end game👌
Great review as always, can't wait to see Kristi on the next one lol. Was hoping for the DMP-A6 review but great all the same. Had the A6 in my shopping cart yesterday but backed out last second. Not sure if $900 would buy me a noticeable sound difference over my Nvidia Shield Pro and Cinema 50 setup at the moment. Keep up the great work you two, cheers!
I use DACMagic for my PC speakers and for my vintage Marantz amplifier that has no digital inputs. Every flaw I've actually been able to hear can be traced to 1) source music - bad mastering; 2) speaker/speaker placement/room issues; or 3) dac built in to cheap consumer devices and computers. By far, bad mastering is the most common villain. The DACs built into my Denon AVR and my NAIM Cube v2 speakers are fine. I believe I'd have to have much better ears and better sources before I'd get better results that I'd actually noticed.
Nice review and don't worry I haven't even bought an external DAC yet. I was eye-balling the Eversolo A6 Streamer and I wonder what sort of chip and circuitry are in its' DAC. Keep up the good work and enjoy the music.
Thanks guys - helpful video for all the DAC chatter the last couple of years. Also - would love to see Kristi in the hot seat - if I could like the video twice I would :)
Like Kristi, I typically prefer one box integrated solutions, but I recently heard the Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer with dual dacs and it was spectacular. So good in fact that I don’t think I can go back to one box.
Seems like you should try DACs with a different architecture before writing off DACs, like if you like the Modi you could try the new Modi Multibit 2 and see if the Multibit architecture sounds any good to you, and then there’s more expensive options that might be interesting like those from Denafrips, Gustard, or Holo Audio that may sound much better in a way the Naim would not
Confusion! A6-the sound machine and baby monitor and the other A6, a streamer. There's even a Miami Sound Machine, but it's not an Eversolo product. Even though Gloria Estefan went solo after the Miami Sound Machine adventure. Why did Andrew answer yes, when asked if the A6 was white? The DMP-A6, which he clearly was thinking of, is black, yes? Great Video...
Again, Andrew is selling me salt while stranded in the ocean. 🤦🏼♂️ Or to put it so people understand, "selling me sand at the beach." I take your thoughts to heart. I am looking for a DAC. Don't know if I need one or but you sold me on this. Kristi absolutely has me looking for a nighttime music companion. ❤ Thanks guys. Love it.
Smsl su1 supports mqa no frill $80 DAC it beats there $400 dacs for what you can really honestly hear I think it's all most people really need unless they have a $50000 setup how much difference are people going to even notice. Of course they are going to show us new shiny objects to spend our money on even if we don't need it.
I don’t understand why anyone would buy this. The DAC in my Marantz SA-KI SACD player is fantastic. Easy to hook up via USB etc and gives brilliant sound with any decent amp or powered speakers. Always enjoy your content, very entertaining.
Because it is a streamer and can be used as a digital preamp. I have no doubt that the DAC in the Marantz is a killer. I owned a Marantz NA 11s1 DAC and it was awesome. I now own a Luxman.
Any input would be appreciated! Not sure why I would need a DAC but since I always follow your recommendations maybe you can tell me what the advantage would be. So here is what I currently have as far as equipment (if you both had an affiliate link I used it for everything below). I am strictly a two channel music listener. I have the Onkyo RZ-50 - truth is most movies I watch are subtitled so the Onkyo is more than enough for me. I don’t care about improving my surround sound, I am strictly a two channel music listener. You would laugh at my big screen TV which I will only up date f it breaks. :-). Thank you for your support, and given your system breakdown, it is my opinion that you would not be a candidate for this (or any) DAC. Your SHD is more than capable and similar to the Z8 here only with a LOT more upside. So, yeah, you don't need this or any DAC as far as I'm concerned.

Those all sound like GREAT choices! Appreciate you sharing your picks!
please review the EverSolo DMP-A6.. thnks
DACs changed my life. A good dac will bring out nuances in music that you never knew existed.
Try an R2R Dac, the most totally accurate and musical sound I have ever heard in my systems.
@@mikelanier5617 What exactly do you mean by musical?
Couldn’t agree more, I was almost ready to get out of the hobby due to listening fatigue in wired headphones. Took an expensive gamble on a Chord Mojo 2 and was blown away at the difference. Everything I’ve plugged into it sounds better, and even friends not into gear comment on to the sound. There’s a lot of little differences but what jumped out to me was hearing the tone/pitch of every note come thru more clearly and enjoyably.
Would love to see Andrew and Kristi discuss one.
@@mikelanier5617and what other Dac's do you hear ?
Inserting an external DAC was the single best upgrade I've ever nade. The Gustard r26 leveled up my whole system.
Hard to beat that one
Yes, I would to see Kristi review the Ever Solo sound machine, white noise maker, baby monitor, etc. on camera! Please make it happen Andrew! Incidentally, this was another informative and humerus video! Keep up the great work!👍
Please review the EverSolo DMP-A6!
The Eversolo looks like a great product and hub for a system. Since you mentioned how saturated the DAC market is right now, you should try a Schiit Bifrost 2/64 or Yggdrasil. They actually are doing some next-level digital engineering with those.
I love y’all’s interactions even when I could care less about the review itself. Always a blast to watch thanks again.
Much appreciated!
It seems like DACs are a fairly subtle component, at least on lower to mid-end systems and likely not al the panacea that most people think it is
P.S. baby monitor - are you hinting there's a 3rd audiophile coming to the channel? 😮
We are not.
My kids still use a sound machine, so I'd be here for that review. Let's go Kristi!
The A6 is about $860, unless you go for the Master Version. She was confusing the white Z6 Dac with the Black A6 Streamer Dac.
Appreciate this review. The dac / preamp had been making waves recently. Hearing good things about it. All the best.
The Hegel H200 is the predecessor of the Hegel H300 and it does not contains a DAC. Hence why I use the Mytek 192.
And I bought the Hegel secondhand for €1200,-.
Together with my old and trusted Dynaudio’s Contour 2 mki and a Kef subwoofer, I enjoy music for a reasonable price. 👍🏼
Can you please review the EverSolo DMP-A6?
I agree!
I am very curious about the streamer, and may buy one to find out myself. Thanks for watching!
Hi Andrew, hi kristi 😁. Great review and SUCH a fabulous bit at the end! LOVED IT!!
Alex and Suzy 😁💛😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review team the Eversolo A6 retails for $899 the special edition is $1299 and yes it is a preamp, stremer, dac .Other reviewers have raved about the
Basic A6 Compairing it to dacs of twice the price But it is out of stock everywhere .
Yes, Kristi please review the A6!
Can you do a comparison between the Eversolo dmp a6 and a8?
Still happy with my Chord Quietest. And can't see that changing any decade soon, Would be interested in the Eversolo DMP-a6 streamer though.
14:30 this is honestly my favourite ever video interlude! 😂
To Kristi's defence IT DOES look like a baby device! 😄
Anyway, thanks for the great review as always.
How about comparing to the Denafrigs Ares II?
Kristi, go for it! Wanna see your review of the A6 thingy!
Fun review guys, Al bough I’m happy with my built in dac…just saying lol
Thanks for all your hard work :) looking forward to this video
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome, as always! I just bought an Eversolo-A6. Can't wait to hear your take on it.
Thanks for sharing and for joining us!
Good morning friends! I'm enjoying the video before showing a friend around town. Hope you guys have a great Sunday and holiday.
Thanks for fitting us into your holiday weekend! Appreciate it!
Thank you! We're finally enjoying a little down time now that the video is out. Have a good one!
@@KristiWright Enjoy your well deserved break.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I'm really happy to, I've been working too many Sundays recently.
No need for Kristi to get on camera BUT I definitely want, nay, NEED that White Noise Generator review!!! 😆😂 Please & thank u
Hmm, that would be an interesting A/B, not sure if you'd hear a difference myself.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I do like the display, VU meters, and app interfaces though. The Tidal app via the Shield leaves much to be desired.
How does the preamp section compare to a stand alone preamp
I do own a Z8, since mid-april and it sounds fantastic. Value for money here is at its best.
Thanks guys - helpful video for all the DAC chatter the last couple of years. Also - would love to see Kristi in the hot seat - if I could like the video twice I would :)
Great video, Andrew!...Just purchased the Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer and looking forward to possible review...PLEASE!
Like Kristi, I typically prefer one box integrated solutions, but I recently heard the Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer with dual dacs and it was spectacular. So good in fact that I don’t think I can go back to one box.
Seems like you should try DACs with a different architecture before writing off DACs, like if you like the Modi you could try the new Modi Multibit 2 and see if the Multibit architecture sounds any good to you, and then there’s more expensive options that might be interesting like those from Denafrips, Gustard, or Holo Audio that may sound much better in a way the Naim would not
I use a DAC-Preamp In my system With great results. To add a preamp With the sound quality will triple the lost great job😊
I own a modi dac and love it. I never thought about upgrading, but maybe 🤔 I should after this video
Kristi Rocks and her opinion is 100% correct. Do the review....seriously ! Voice over is fine.
I'm going to start a channel called "Kristi reviews audiophile bullshit". 😂
Why did you not get the Eversolo DMP-A6 ?
It wasn't available so I bought the Z8.
Again, Andrew is selling me salt while stranded in the ocean. 🤦🏼♂️
Or to put it so people understand, "selling me sand at the beach." I take your thoughts to heart.
Same here 🤣
Topping E50 and a Wiim Pro streamer …and my digital setup is done .
Have a great weekend.
☕️🍕👍
Thanks for sharing!
OMG the end of the videos are some of the BEST content... LOL
The Eversolo A6 is a white noise generator/nature sound player/bluetooth speaker to sit next to your bed. The DMP-A6 is a streamer DAC.
