Interesting to see Donegal Close in a dilapidated state. It wasn't always like that. The garages used to be all occupied and it all looked tidier. I moved in before the sad two level monolith housing was built that cut off the view across the field to the railway line. There were still prefabs in Canley when I was there. It was a good community to grow up in.
@@anearbytown Hi mate, its changed even more since, most of the prefabs of Top of Charter Ave are still there, but some of the flats are gone now, along with Canley Social club. In their place now are just Student flats and housing. I might have to do a modern re run of this video, just to show the change to the area since this one (15 years ago now!!).
@@CV4Productions Hi. I have visited my old haunts recently and lots has changed. One of the ugly blocks has gone and a large proportion of the field has been taken over by housing. The field used to be left wild but it looks manicured now. I believe the Charter primary school has gone and its annex further up Charter Avenue. The original school had an army barracks quality to it. I left the area in 1971 after 14 years. Please keep videoing.
@@anearbytown Yes, weve recently had some regeneration schemes completed here, Prior Deram Park has hadd a great makeover and enjoyed now by all the community :)
let's hope the regen has a good impact, the sports centre is a good step.... but tearing up the park makes me think we're gonna be seeing a shed load of new houses soon...
@wobblism yh tell me about it , i live in freeburn and the noise of the massive dumper trucks and diggers are annoyin the hell out of me. its taken a year just to get it to a plain field (which it was in the first place!) its meant to be half for a park and the other half new housing and possibly a theme pub or hotel , would be nice if we were actually told for definite, after all we only live here...
@betty3461 nice one betty, the schools gone now im afraid and Canley itself would look quite different. the council are re-generating the area and pumping much needed money into the community. also i think cannon park shops is about to have a complete makeover , complete with underground parking and a bus terminus!
