I'd say I prefer the earlier ones. In the later games it looked more like just a missile attack, the earlier ones it was like a skull actually attacking the target. Though I do like that in later games he could fire it while jumping.
Man MK Deadly Alliance was my game back when I was younger. Then I did something dumb I tried to pick the locked characters and didn't know how to unlock them so I got mad and threw the game away. I regret it to this day

The skull sound would always scare the hell out of me as a kid.
