    Thank you for doing this video. It was a game changer for me getting my Trek Domane SL 5 up and running on the Kickr. It was hard to find such an informative video. It's all a bit overwhelming just starting out, being a newbie with all the different variables out there. Set up was a breeze and worked fine on my bike and trainer thanks to you. I also did have to contact Wahoo to get the adapter kit. Their customer service was awesome. I think I received the adapters in 4 days via UPS from the U.S. to me in Canada. Have fun everyone and ride on!

      @@ariansafatian6293 Hi Arian. The thru axle that comes with the Kickr Core is not compatible with
      the Trek Domane SL5. You have to contact Wahoo and tell you you need the adapter and they will ship it to you for free. The Domane is one of few bikes that is not compatible with the through axle they send with the Kickr. I got my Kickr Core last year and that was the case when I bought it.

      @@luvGod21 Thanks for your reply Brenda, much appreciated. Yes I reached out to Wahoo. I hope it will make a difference as some people seem to have been able to put their Cervelo/Trek bikes on the home trainer with the adapter that come with the Kickr Core although it wasn't ideal whereas I couldn't screw in the thru axle at all! Just hoping this will be sorted with the new adapter!

    Hey, awesome video, improved my situation a lot by changing the nut of the freehub. I still have issues to get my gravel bike chain running smoothly on my Shimano CS-R7000 11-speed cassette. I cant switch into the largest ring. Already tried finetuning chain but no chance. I have read some stuff about additional spacer even on 11-speed cassette, do you have any experience on it or tip?

    • @JDirom
      @JDirom  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t need a spacer. I am on a GRX drivetrain. I have to index for the trainer or it is slightly off for me for the highest gear. During the season I recognize this and just do, winter I index it, and come summer re-index for my wheels. Probably not helpful to your situation. If you are doing ERG training as long as you have it running smooth in a couple gears you will be good. Sorry I don’t have a better solution.

  • @kylewood9564
    @kylewood9564 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Greetings! Did you have to use a spacer with your cassette given you’re using the shimano HG800 11-34? I’m currently using the HG700 11-34 on my Cervelo Aspero and the low gears are vibrating a bit.

    • @JDirom
      @JDirom  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t use anything, I am running the cassette that came with the trainer. That being said the lower gears are not perfectly indexed. That being said GRX has a 2.5mm offset compared to a normal chain line to accommodate for the larger tires. I index the shifting to the trainer for the winter, and tune the bike in the spring getting it ready for the road.

    • @JDirom
      @JDirom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure why that would be an issue. It should just simply slide on. The video shows the original cassette being used, so should just be a matter of placing in on the axle but after installing the cassette. I am on Twitter as ‘paininc’ if you send photos I might have a better idea.

I have a problem with the chain being to close to the frame when in the smallest rear ring after installing my new bike with sram 12 speed. What do you mean by you have damage? If you mean you have damaged the frame, there is likely little that can be done at this point, other than take it to a carbon repair specialist to see if it is possible to repair it.

    Ok, I did not receive a drive side adapter. I have two chrome adapters (I think), neither of which have threads or notches for using a wrench for tightening. Secondly, I have no idea what version Kickr I have since there is no mention anywhere on the box or included documentation (purchased from REI). The QR code in the instruction manual tells me it has exceeded the allowable number of scans. I need something to go right...this is the second "smart" trainer I have tried to set up. Oh, and I have a 21 Ceverlo P series. Help!

      You have to submit a support ticket directly to Wahoo to get the new adapters. I would just submit it, if you bought the trainer new recently. Worst case scenario is you have extras. How do your parts compare to those shown at 0:46?

      @@JDirom the unit came with the old skewer type axle fittings and the additional parts were like the ones you removed. So you are correct I will have to order the additional parts. Stinks because I am on a triathlon training plan and need to get my workouts in. Great video by the way...otherwise I would still be scratching my head. Thanks a ton.

      @@dalooch121 no problem. Wahoo was quick, when I put in a ticket for them they sent them via courier at no charge, and took less than a week (I live in Canada, and sent from the US). Hopefully you will be back on the trainer quick. Best of luck with your triathlon training plan, and have a great race season!

    once the new adpaters are on to suit cervelo/domane etc, are the previsously compatible bikes still ok to be used with the updated adapters?
    I'm swapping mine out to suit my 2021 Domane disc, would for example my girlfriends Canyon still be compatible? or Would the old adapters need put on?

    • @JDirom
      @JDirom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Would you be able to mount the bike? Yes, the Canyon should mount, but is it ultimately good for the frame is likely what you are asking. That would be something to ask Wahoo when you submit the support ticket to get the adapters sent to you. Sorry I don’t have a better answer, and please do let us know what Wahoo says on this matter. Cheers.

      @@JDirom I have now swapped the adapters and have my bike fitted, your video was a big help so thanks again for the upload.
      I am going to follow up with another email to Wahoo to enquire. First impression it looks as though the new adapter is needed to stop the shoulder rubbing off the inside face of the chain stay and seat stay joint? So provided the recess is there to suit the O/D of the protruding shaft they should all fit.... best guess for now - (crude) video here if it helps anyone: th-cam.com/video/MF_t6I-vk0k/w-d-xo.html
