This movie is so underrated, taught me so much about standing up for myself and for others! My mum pointed out to me at that scene that this is what to do with bullies. If we stand together, one or two bullies can't do anything to hurt you anymore!

@@alexkazhdan Me too. Especially since I'm half-Polish I watched this film a lot in Polish and that "cry" sounds Like English 'No'. I first thought that it was indeed Zini (being worried about Aladar possibly). I was surprised to learn that the "cry" is part of the Original Score.

A fear tactic perhaps. Some creatures use roaring as a way to scatter a large herd so that it can pick out the weaker prey.
Or, if the prey was larger than the predator, it could be a warning signal.
Plus, not all carnivores in the animal kingdom are ambush predators.
