Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

I rented a 2019 a year ago for a few days with the auto. I was really impressed with it. Very quiet, smooth ride and comfortable seats. Yeah, its pretty basic by today's standards, but I've have much more bare bones cars in the 90s and early 2000s. I'm actually considering a 2021. They're one of the few new cars that dealers generally don't add on thousands in dealer markup to in this chip shortage times. I just need a reasonably comfy, economical, simple car with a decent warranty.

I've had miatas, fiat 500 turbos and when my daughter was born needed something bigger but I wanted to keep a lot of the fun driving dynamics and this car kept a lot of that for me all while driving a reasonable dad car. Manual ANYTHING is pretty good! As another person mentioned in the comments, the simplicity is strangely attractive. My wife and I had a 1990 Jetta (black with a manual) back in the early 90’s. We put about a million really hard miles on that old car. Loved it! Even though it was pretty slow, it really was great to drive. I also owned an 85 Scirroco (a black manual) in the 80’s. Really loved that car.

The Jetta has become so cheap and boring, but it's hard to deny the value here. It's really amazing to see how inexpensive the Jetta has become. I remember my family buying a 2006 Jetta Value Edition in 2005. One of the first on the lot. The car had an MSRP of around $18,000. In today's prices, that would be nearly $23,000.

If you are thinking to buy a new VW JETTA 2019, think twice.
I bought this car in May 2019. The 8 speed automatic transmission, beside making a grinding noise when is driving at a constant speed of 30 to 40 miles per hour (+/_ 1,200 RPM), make an annoying vibration. The service department and the VW representative said that the vibration and noise are normal. I think this is the most ridiculos answer that I ever heard from a car manufacturer.
I when to different VW dealers and drove a brand new car and all have the same problem. Be careful when you test it, maybe you will not notice it at the beginning.
Just type in Google "Jetta 2019 transmission problems" and you will see.
Pd: This happens on roads not very steep as we have in florida.
    Thanks

For those of you who call this car "boring," VW tried to "upmarket" the Jetta with the Mk5 models. It didn't work so well, and went against the history of the Jetta. So they went down to a more market friendly, i.e. boring, people's car type product. I've had Mk2, Mk3, and I failed to get a Mk4, as it's my favourite model. Especially in GLI trim. Funny note, they've had that same damn door open/key in chime for 30 years! LOL

but every trim above this forces you into an auto trans. Is the $3.5k price jump worth it? Comparing to an SE/R-Line/SEL is the only way to really know. Cheap, inexpensive cars don't have to be "cheap" or featureless; they just won't have a many features as higher priced/trimmed cars.
