[ADDITIONAL CONTEXT] I previously left this out of my script for the sake of the video's length, but I feel like mentioning it is important regardless: "If you're questioning the continuity between Tencent's endeavours and Supercell's recent business decisions, I implore you to take a look at the absolute state that League of Legends and Valorant are in. Both are controlled by a subsidiary of Tencent that they wholly own and therefore are capable of exerting such influence required to manipulate the in-game markets as well as completely destroy the game with unnecessary cosmetics purposefully engineered towards a certain perverted demographic. (In reference to Valorant's skin design)"
While I can see it in cosmetics, other games that Tencent controls aren't necessarily Pay-to-Win. How can you be sure that this is the fault of Tencent, then? I don't think that it's impossible to at least try card skins, but no attempts was made
@@byeguyssryIf you do as much as reasearch even surface level information on Tencent's monetization history then you will see that Tencent is a monetization Hog.
Lack of competition adds to it too. People go for boom arena and such. But in my opinion Champion Strike Hero Clash needs to be in the front lines then a lot of players will move to the Champion Strike. Thus the competition begins and CR will make the game for f2p
Yeah some other people also pointed out that TenCent doesn’t really meddle in their foreign subsidiaries. But after your company was bought for billions and your shares in the company suddenly made all your colleagues and you millionaires, you don’t have much more incentive anymore. And when TenCent only statistics is how much your company can make in revenue… you are definitely incentivized to make more money. Honestly it’s just a company that grew too big for its own good, got bought by a much bigger company who doesn’t really understand your brand or market, so it sets some really bad, but easy to quantify metrics like profit or revenue and now all you need to do to keep your job is to pump the numbers up. It’s not just TenCent, any other game is falling under the same curse. I honestly feel like that only small indie game studios are able anymore to make a decent game.
Well if you are a billionaire or millionaire with like 10plus million why would you want to improve anyone you basically got rich for life and never have to worry about anything even if your company fails you can just invest in other startups with a professional teams and get more money every year
This Corpo is not just destroying Clash Royale, But Clash of Clans and tons of other video games. Clash Of Clans New UI menu for upgrades is garbage and most hate it
i actually don't mind the new ui, i think it fixes some problems but yeah i do think of it as being a slight attitude adjustment, this whole push for "unity" across the game may have nice intentions but i know full well clash of clans might be next - i just decided to focus on clash royale for this video in particular considering the game has been the victim of greed beyond comprehension
yeah i actually just opened the game and the funny thing is in the new big event you can’t get any of the cool skins bruh this company don’t review the games as games its just money making thing
So if Tencent is to blame for Clash Royale's current situation, as well as the situation for other game companies like Epic Games and Riot Games, what should we do? Can anything even be done against such a powerhouse in the gaming market? Surely there has to be something, anything we can do... I don't want one of my favorite childhood games to go down like this 😭💔
Lack of competition adds to it too. People go for boom arena and such. But in my opinion Champion Strike Hero Clash needs to be in the front lines then a lot of players will move to the Champion Strike. Thus the competition begins and CR will make the game for f2p
Yes there is like if you and other people write to the senators of the state that you and others live in by saying that tencent is manipulating supercell playerbase by pushing Chinese propaganda and that it could steal data of us players and give them to ccp goverment they could make a proposal to force tencent to sell supercell stocks to a us company which could solve this problem
Something worse about Tencent is that they have a separate server for Chinese. I played my accounts of clash of clans and clash royale for years, and now they get rid of the global chat and put me in the Chinese server that no one plays. There’s zero way I sync my account into global server and I just don’t want to play anymore.
A small critique I have with your videos is the amount of shaking your edits have. Some pictures have text that make it quite difficult for me to read due to how they sway around, making me pause the video to read what it has to say. Other times there are images that unnecessarily move around. An example is 5:08 when they could appear in order of how you speak them rather than moving around as one piece. Other than that, I enjoy watching your videos, keep making content!
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I'm gonna lower the amount of shake that some of the things appearing on screen have, especially text, considering it can get a bit disorienting sometimes. I'm glad you're still enjoying my videos in spite of this, though! (I might just make a slow hover effect or ditch the effect entirely because it's mostly unnecessary)
Evo's absolutely ruined the game for returning players too. if you played earlier in clash royales life span, but quit around when they got added, you probably will have a hell of a time trying to get back into the game. I'd know, im one of them. i cant fight against evo's without either over leveled cards or evolutions of my own. Also coming back just after dagger duchess gets released in one of the most broken states a newly added "card" has ever been. extra health and able to freely take out many pushes and lower health cards. I got extremely lucky and rolled a tower troop chest with dagger duchess in it, so i wasnt too far behind. but if you didnt get this as a returning player, you are screwed. The chinese really ruin everything
Tencent doesn't care what you or anyone complaining thinks. They got money and the CCP on their side sadly. However glad you did make this video to highlight why this game feels so P2W now
So in short, CR is doomed to be milked to death until the only ones left are the whales of the game willing to empty their entire life savings into the game for an unfair advantage

This is very important information since as far as i know prior to this many people including me didn't even knew about tencent having their dirty hands involved into this. I used to blame supercell for that because i didn't knew better. Great video!
Huh, TenCent doesn’t destroy all it touches though. People were screaming this when they acquired Klei and Don’t Starve Together, and that game is fine, they leave the devs to do everything. Might this not just be greedy Supercell?

DST and Klei games don't have any competitive aspect, the monetization is only included through cosmetics. Considering the nature of Clash Royale and, how as cited in the video Tencent is all about the way to monetize games, you could argue that it's a bit beside the point. They don't ruin anything they touch per say, but them having the final say on things affecting the balance of a competitive game (here access to evos, how things are released and how to gain access to them). Which is very different to even the way they interact with League or Valorant, that don't really have early premium access to new overpowered/unbalanced things being added. They also bought or heavily invested in other games that have similar issues to CR or CoC, with balancing issues considering new releases and made them become whale fests worse and worse at exponential rates. Castle Clash from IGG, which was a competitor to CoC with it's own merits, is a prime example of it.
