What brand and model do you have?

Please help. I replaced the thermopile and the thermocouple. Also used my shop vac to clean the vents under and around the tank. I get a good signal to the unit and release the knob after 2 minutes and the pilot light immediately goes out😢
Update** I have hot water!!!
My control board was the issue.
Bought a new controller from Amazon for 150 bucks. 5 minute install.

Should this be happening with a hot water heater? That is only a year old? Granted, it’s been turned off for about three months, but I am wondering what the problem could be
I depends on the location and the brand, if it keep going out and the filter is clean then the next step is to check the thermocouple.

When you push the knob does it stay in while holding it?
It will stay in as long as you hold it in, once you release it it will pop out. Hold it until the flame remains lit.
If my hot water heater pilot goes out how long should I still have hot water ?
It depends on the size of your tank, but the hot water will start to cool as soon as your tank flame goes out.
When I release the pilot knob the pilot doesn’t stay on. What is the cause of this?
If the pilot wont stay lit then most likely it is your thermal coupling. If you have a newer tank with the blinking light then you can read the trouble code to see if it is your thermal coupling, if you have a older tank and it is clean then the thermal coupling would be the next thing to replace. Mine lights great but no matter how long i hold the button the light wont blink and whenever i let the button go the pilot lght goes out, i need help!?
Check the Thermal Coupling, that's usually the case.
Problem solved…… bullshit””” I have this model and this same problem and have done everything you did here, still goes out. Sometimes in a day sometimes it lasts a few days or week. But the problem is not solved!

I fixed my issue. By going to Home Depot. And have them come over an install one new one with warranty. Issue fixed
you forgot to check for gas leaks after you reinstalled the gas lines...
Yes, sometimes during the recording I forget to emphasize certain steps. I did go back and check for leaks. Check for leaks using a mixture of soap and water and spray around your fitting and look for any bubbles. Thanks for Watching!!
