I’ll say I’m not much of a fan reaching in when it comes to fouls or you getting burned so I mostly rely on my perimeter defense and bodying the ball handler , beating them to spots, to where I’ll get bump steals or they’ll pass the ball into my player when I have my hands up 🤷🏾♂️
Guys lower 3pt to 76 or 77 and get a 80 layup you’ll get a better name (doesn’t require layup) id also turn speed down just a little bit for some other better stats
Great vid. I have no issues with steals or interceptions, that's very easy. However I struggle to stay infront of my man. Not see any vids on the basics, do you hold l2 at all times? L2 and r2 ? Or just use them sparingly?
I think I answered a comment about this already but I don't mind explaining again. Basically, my position determines if I hold LT or not. If I am already in good defensive position on my man and don't want to give it up, I hold L2. However, lets say I lose my position and my matchup blows past me. I then let go of LT to try to get my position back. So, in shorter terms, good position hold L2, let go of L2 if you are trying to catch up.
I didn’t even get 1 minute in and I can tell this is a great video. Ik it’s kinda counter intuitive but don’t ask people to sub, your content speaks for itself. To me I’m more inclined to not sub when people ask for it. But this video is really good and I will be subscribing
@@guga2luvly this video made me think you had like atleast 30k subs, you’re on the right path. Your content is actually really good I’m not just saying that. Just stay true to yourself and do what you feel is best. You will make it big
So when I say body to body, that means if they are dribbling while making contact with you. For example, physical handles badge triggers when they are body to body dribbling. Essentially, you have a better chance of poking the ball loose if there is no air space or distance between you and your matchup.
Your build is nice but the speeeddd! the only thing I hate with my lock is the fast break with that low of a speed w ball I always get blocked on attack.
3:10 nah dats crazy ive been using 100 defensive assist this whole time while you use 10 but then again im am a cone on defense in 2k which is why i be so scared of the 1v1 courts every year😂😂😂
i just made a hybrid lockdown and am still getting used to being the primary defender. it’s definitely an adjustment lol i get beat from time to time but once i master my movement and stuff it’s gonna be fun
Yessir‼️ and always remember as a lock, especially when you go up against a good player, you can’t stop them every time. But you can slow them down enough to help your team win.
I’ve been a lock myself, this video is really informative. I will definitely show this video to my homies who need to work on their defense 😂. Great video!
I thumbs up And Subbed on Both of my Accounts! You got yourself a new Sub! been looking for a video for the longest that explains how to be a better lockdown. This Is College level academic Chit here! 😂😂😂😂 👍🏿👍🏿
I pretty much only use X since they nerfed right stick ripper into the ground... From time to time I use my right stick to go for passing lane steals but I personally have not been a fan of getting on ball steals with it since the nerf. Let me know if you've had any success with it!
Not a bad lock but if someone is intending on making this I highly recommend axeing that 70 layup down to bare minimum and putting it into standing dunk.
One thing that i cant find on any video is dealing with the game forcing animations to let the defender get open. My 82 int / 93 perim/ 91 ste / 85 speed / 90 strng lock sometimes gets pushed by a ghost and cant get bumpy. they do regular left right dribble moves without R2 and an invisible wall gets created forces my character to give them an open lane. is it Physical handles? thats my only guess
Physical handles enables a player to dribble and get by you when ur pressing them hard. So yea, your guess would most likely be correct. I didn’t want to talk too much about badges like physical handles or bulldozer because in many instances there’s nothing you can do to combat a badge animation once it triggers. And this video is more basic information. I plan to drop an advanced video soon which may talk about these.
@@guga2luvly I dont even know what attributes or badges could possibly combat it. The only one ive noticed combat those animations a lot more is my 74 interior 94 perim 96 steal 82 strength 86 speed SG. idk why.
I dont wanna drop a vid cuz its not something that I made. But the jumper is Jarrett Culver base, Troy Brown Jr release 1, and Oscar Robertson release 2, 73/27 blending and max speed.
I just prefer to hit X especially if you have glove. Since they nerfed right stick ripper into the ground it hasn't been effective. But every now and then I say fuck it and try to go for a right stick steal, sometimes it gives me different animations.
The tips are good but your giving use the basic cues on how to play fundamental defense and which buttons to press and when and how to navigate screens
I plan to drop another video with more advanced tips. This is just one video and kept to more basic things cuz I didn’t want to drop a huge bomb of too much info. The video was already almost 20 minutes with just the basics.
Not even 5 mins in and you leading them wrong. Who to guard arrow is important. 1.) It’s a quick reminder for you 2.) if playing solo lets you know who your teammates should/will be rotating too 3.) helps aid you to align your back to the basket for more mobility to prevent passing lanes
That’s a very strong opinion to have, but imma provide my counters to all your points. 1) I said I prefer IQ over arrows. Developing tendencies and not having to rely on arrows makes you an infinitely better lock. 90% of the time by the time the arrow switches it’s already too late, 2) if your playing solo, that is you playing to the best of your ability. You can’t control what your teammates do. Having arrows or not won’t change the fact that most randoms playing themselves won’t rotate in time because they don’t possess the necessary IQ or reaction time. 3) aligning your back has more to do with defensive assist strength, which I play at a very low defensive assist strength. That is why I rarely have my back turned the wrong direction and can move more freely. With practice you can still be bumpy with 0 defensive assist in theory, although for most people I recommend they have at least a little bit turned on. The defensive settings are my recommendations. Whether or not I have arrows or not I am confident in clamping anyone. The main reason is putting them into good habits and mentality of a defensive player.
I have a question for you. A lot of times I will get the rip but the offensive player always picks the ball up. Is there something I need to press to be able to retain my steals?
I believe that has to do with the work horse badge which sometimes gives you better animations to hustle for the ball. And the rest of it is just animation. Happens to everyone so unfortunately it’s not much you can do about that.
Quick tip, don’t turn defensive assist down too low as it’ll prevent you from getting as many bump animations and clamp animations etc, around 10-20 i would say is more than low enough. If you have problems with your player guarding the wrong guy press rb/r1 and then the icon of the play you want to guard and it’ll force a switch for you. Also very good for picking up full court or off inbounds. Very very useful to get proper block animations from help defence
@@andrewoberg after taking some time to experiment, playing on 0 does not impact how bumpy you get (AT LEAST TO ME) this is not official testing, just what I realized

That is the jumpshot I use on my PG which has better than a 79 shooting.
I dont really fw right stick ripper much anymore since they nerfed it into the ground a few patches ago. But in theory, its the same shit as glove, just instead of pressing X to reach you would use ur right stick.

@@guga2luvly I’m chillin, I just need it for my irl’s so they can get it down. I’m sure you know how it is being the only “comp” or sweaty player on the squad
I think about it like this: use LT if ur in good position and don’t want to lose it, don’t use LT if you need to get back in position. Not using LT lets you run freely, so if you get beaten in a rim run for example, sprinting without LT helps you get more chase downs
Easiest way to get this done is to look at opponent tendencies. What helps me a lot is seeing when people do it. Most commonly, they always do a snatch back or step back of some sort and then do the magic cross. So you have to try and predict them switching the opposite direction.
