I lived in Alaska from 1987-1999 and used to go out to Jim Creek and Knik Glacier every summer when I was in high school in the early 1990’s until I moved away in 1999. Never did go up in the winter. It certainly looks like it would be easier in the winter as long as the ice was thick enough and nobody broke through. Always had so much fun there but in the summer the trip up to the glacier can get pretty hairy if the water is high. Certainly miss those days though.

Been offroading out there since the dawn of time. Depending on the tide, Jim Creek is where trucks go to die. Just got a pair of Taco's for the wife and I. Mine at least will be out there directly...

Ryobi makes a battery powered chain saw that works perfectly. I have one and wouldn't go anywhere in the bush with out it. Inexpensive but worth it's weight in gold!
