    “If you haven’t built one, do it. Why not? “
    As a CT resident we’re not allowed to build tools like these 🤦‍♂️
    Great job. All 3 of them are great in their own way. I could see having several, chambered in different calibers. The extractor is definitely a must-have upgrade to the original plans. Carrying around a metal rod to eject the cases is bogus (not that I would know anything about that). You’re correct too, that all button head Allen screws and regular Allen head cap screws are heat treated, grade 8 hardware.

    Did you printed Sheet Metal Derringer Model 2 and pasted on the metal and then cutout ?? If yes the what you use to cutout the smooth and fine pieces of metal?

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I printed them on paper, glued to the steel, cut with a bandsaw to rough shape then filed to final dimensions. Same could be done with a right angle grinder or hacksaw for that matter. I had to glue new patterns to some mid process. The paper gets torn or the glue just comes off. I have a video series staeted on Rumble (jfgmfg) where I document the whole build process.
      Patience is key. Files take a long time, but applied correctly can yield machine like results. I do it for the process, not the result alone. You need to enjoy the work/process. Having a finished product you hand built adds to the overall experience.

  • @ClickClack_Bam
    @ClickClack_Bam 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You didn't cock any of those to show what happens.
    Is the firing pin built into the hammer like old school revolvers?
    If not did you build a transfer plate?
    Can your Derringers be opened when cocked or did you build in safety features etc?

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Firing pin built into the hammer, nothing to stop you from opening the action. These are built from the Professor Parabellum Practical Scrap Metal Small Arms series. The only thing I added was the extractor. These are Model 2. Model 1 has a block to keep yiu from opening the auction with the hammer down or back. I hate it. It's a clumsy design. The safety part I mean. Most break action firearms yiu can open while locked, or cock while opened. But they do have transfer bars. The model 2 does at least have a half cock.

      I'm sure. I've looked at some other cartridges. Not a lot, common in the US, would make much sense. I really like the Lil rimfire 9mm flobert shotshells, but in the US, they are rather pricey when available which isn't regularly.

      @butternutbestboy1251 if you put grips on it, you can take as much as you need. All 1/8" of each side plate if necessary. Grips would make it better anyway if those weren't already in the plans.

      Sorry, I dont sell anything here. These are custom DIY projects based on Professor Parabellum's Practical Scrap Metal Small Arms vol 7. 100 hours or more easily in each of these. Attempting to produce them for sale would require drastically changes in design and manufacturing to be feasible. As is, time wise they would have to sell for $500 or more and they aren't worth $500 . They are best left as a fun DIY project.

      Look up "Practical Scrap Metal Small Arms vol 7" these are Model 2 from those plans. Admittedly, those plans are terrible, but they'll give you a decent starting point for a fully DIY build. I have a bunch of videos and shorts on these builds in varying stages of completion. TH-cam terms of service doesn't allow "how-to's" for firearms, but other places like Rumble and Odysee do.
