Great video, while visiting our son near Berkhampstead today we decided to walk from Bulbourne along the Wendover Arm, saw a couple of day boats and a few others along the away. Was hoping to have a pint back at the pub but it's closed until spring next year. Take care

We just had a gorgeous weekend, warmer than usual for this time of year. But that chilly weather will be coming soon.
A big thanks for this episode I very much appreciated it. This was just the kind of cruising I used to love. Ending up somewhere remote to moor for a few days. The solitude and peacefulness slows the pace of life even more than cruising does. A hot mug of tea or coffee just watching the wildlife. Lovely, just lovely. I'm already looking forward to a day of you working the seven locks after exiting the Wendover arm. I've just checked Google maps, you're just over a mile from my sister. Just a point that may interest you, If you walk south from Little Tring Bridge, keep walking straight ahead for about 1.5 miles you'll find the Natural History Museum, Tring. Fascinating place. Right enough of my waffle cheers Vince.

Such a lovely vlog with great information. Especially love the spider!🤣🕷trying to put you off that tight turn onto the Wendover Arm. I really recommend walking along the old section and looking at the restoration work.
Thank you for the lovely comment! I think the spider counted as my wild life bit of the video haha! I wished that I did take a proper look at where they are restoring the canal whilst I was there! Perhaps I will live long enough to see it restored instead! Love your channel!

Vince, you ain't no noob these days, not that you ever handle Aitch like one but now you just seem old hat!!! Junction, done!! No blasting horns, no drama...just a hammers fan out on his boat knowing what he's doing. I want a toot when you get around to passing Aitches place of birth.

The mill is indeed a flour mill, My dad used to be the production manager and i grew up in one of the mill houses, there was a windmill there back in the day, and the site also used to be used for making wooden wide beams and narrow boats by the Bushell brothers, I think only one boat survives now, Just where you turned into the wendover arm at Bulborne junction was where a lot of the film The Bargee was filmed in the early 60's staring Harry H Corbett, although the films artistic license had the direction back to London as the route to Birmingham and vice versa.
Very good Vince , nice vlog . It's hard to believe that bloke was just mooring up and nearly ramming you head on , some people do moor by swinging the back into the bank first but overdone this time . Nice turn under the bridge to enter Wendover :-)

Nice video Vince. I used to follow David Johns from Cruising the Cut & he came down this arm of the Grand Union three years back. To be honest it doesn’t look like any work has been done on the restoration since his visit, no doubt Covid will be the reason (excuse) that nothing has been done. The first section looked very overgrown as well ! Good luck with your travels & stay safe.

'they' are working on restoring the rest of the canal. when you don't have to do anything, just wait for someone else to sort it, call them 'they'. big up the Wendover Arm Trust, and the regular volunteers camping there, sweating their cobs off to get it restored. see you soon fellas.

Went to Leicester national then bought Josher moterr Kestrel had for 20 years. Kids came along bought Winnebago. The spent 8 years building a trailer sailer did Norfolk Broads Caledonian Brecon Bcn etc. Now supervisor at Mens Shed Charity .

Hi Vince, thanks for sharing your journey. Sounds as though its really snug in the boat with the fire. Those people were good on the paddle boards. Perhaps the boater who was scraping the branches weren't very confident in steering lol. You must be getting quite well known, people looking out for you. Do you think that near miss of a head-on was someone either a beginner or not meant to handle the boat. It was a bit weird 😕 😳 Firbob sounded a nice person and fun. You are quite an expert on handling Aitch now especially turning it on a sixpence. Well done Vince. Keep living the good life. It is nice and cozy! Sometimes the stove makes it too warm inside the boat and I have to open the windows! I think the near miss was obviously someone that was not very confident handling their boat, that's why I didn't really say much! I'm getting better with experience, still a lot to learn I'd say. I was lucky again on the way back Paul. Water was very clear, could see loads of fish swimming about! A lot clearer than Carpenters Road Haha!

In the 70,s we towed two narrowboats Big Woolich ASCOT and a butty from remains of BW fleet back to Birmingham.

Went to Leicester national then bought Josher moterr Kestrel had for 20 years. Kids came along bought Winnebago. The spent 8 years building a trailer sailer did Norfolk Broads Caledonian Brecon Bcn etc. Now supervisor at Mens Shed Charity .

Hi Vince, thanks for sharing your journey. Sounds as though its really snug in the boat with the fire. Those people were good on the paddle boards. Perhaps the boater who was scraping the branches weren't very confident in steering lol. You must be getting quite well known, people looking out for you. Do you think that near miss of a head-on was someone either a beginner or not meant to handle the boat. It was a bit weird 😕 😳 Firbob sounded a nice person and fun. You are quite an expert on handling Aitch now especially turning it on a sixpence. Well done Vince. Keep living the good life. It is nice and cozy! Sometimes the stove makes it too warm inside the boat and I have to open the windows! I think the near miss was obviously someone that was not very confident handling their boat, that's why I didn't really say much! I'm getting better with experience, still a lot to learn I'd say. Watched your video while stuck in bed with an overdose of MSG, we forgot to tell not to put any in for me. Nice to see you getting the hang of the U turns, lefts through bridges and emergency stops, though I think your tanners are a bit bigger than mine. Plus good to see your control that could have ended in Canal Rage.

Well I’m all caught up now Vince,when do you put up your vlogs? Are they weekly or as and when you’re ready? Loved this one, very pretty little arm. You made that turn look easy. I thought you’d taken it too early but it went in perfect. No idea what that stray boat was doing though 😂 hope you enjoyed your day off from the locks,must have been a nice change. There are quite a few restorations going on around the network, would be good to volunteer. @@melrose100 Sometimes when going up in the locks, its a bit difficult, because you have to climb out with the centre line and windlass! But other than that they have been OK!
