Been going through your vlogs Vince, in no particular order to catch up to date and they are brilliant, you have a unique style and the scenery and commentary is top class Vince, and the icing on the cake is another recent win for the irons.....Happy days. I'm from south of London around the Dorking Surrey Hills area but Ive always been a Hammers fan and a season ticket holder right up to the year they moved to the London Stadium and then my work became too busy so I had to give up the seat. The red lion pub is nice the white building was called the ship a small canal side shop now a cottage marsworth was called Mathers by the boating people
Hi Vince, it’s Jeff from Colchester here again. Still thoroughly enjoying your excellent videos. Indeed if ever I’m feeling a bit low and in need of some pleasant scenery / gentle, relaxing commentary, I generally turn to your TH-cam Channel for a ‘pick-me-up’. Hope you’re surviving this very long and dry summer. Keep safe and well - like many I’m looking forward to seeing plenty more of your gentle adventures. Take care buddy!
Always a pleasure to see. You know, there is a pattern to your self deprecation - build yourself up, build yourself up, knock yourself down. Very funny because we can all see what's coming next. You're a delightful, charming and authentic character, don't change.
Another gorgeous video. Thanks for sharing. It was very thoughtful of you to acknowledge your subscribers. Many TH-cam vloggers, never do, nor respond. Very kind of you.
Thanks so much Vince! I like the open and honest narration of your experiences that you share with us. I think we might be close in age, and I find your decision to take off and adventure inspiring. Having retired just a week ago, I've got the winter to think about it, but hearing others experiences is beneficial as I think about the next stage in my life. Stay well, and stay warm!
Lovely to see you again Vince, I always really enjoy your videos. How sad that the deer had drowned and not pleasant for boaters to see. Once when boating on the Grand Union, probably about 25years ago, we rescued a sheep that had fallen in somehow. It was really hard to get it out, what with the weight of a waterlogged fleece and the frightened sheep struggling. It took four of us and we were all pretty filthy afterwards but the poor thing wouldn’t have lasted much longer. The autumn colours are lovely along the canals aren’t they. You did look chilly though. Take care now the paths and steps are getting wet and slippery. See you again soon 😀
Hello Linda! Yes it was a shame about the Deer. I would have liked to have seen you wrestling the smelly Sheep out of the water! The trees were a lovely colour (beautiful) I will try to be careful out here. Hope to see you next time!
Such a lovely cruise! Not only are you solo boating, but you're filming it too, so there is loads to think about; I don't know how you do it, but keep doing it as your vlogs are a pleasure to watch. 🦋🌻

A lovely bit of the world here Keith! You learn from all the mistakes you make out here, the secret is to not take it all so seriously (like some people do) See you next time mate!
That was quite the challenge with the swing bridge, which you got sorted out. You looked cold in the intro and end section. I'm sure you enjoyed that cuppa.

Another excellent reflection on the waterways lifestyle. A nice peaceful glide through some pretty parts of the English countryside. It's amazing how late the trees are this year with shedding their leaves. I can think of no better way to bring peace to your mind than listening to the sounds of nature accompanied by the prop wash of the water. Keep the episodes coming Vince, I do so much enjoy them. Kevin.
That’s just the way it’s done. Lift bridges are a bit easier cos you can tie the bow to the bridge, nip through, tie the stern, drop the bridge and away you go. Sometimes there’s a bollard both sides and often not. I can well understand your burgeoning popularity, Vince, brilliant filming calm voice over. 😎😎
Good morning Vince! What a treat to wake up this morning to one of your videos. The fall foliage is so pretty, my favorite time of year (even though the chilly air isn't quite as invigorating as it was in my younger days😃). Enjoyed the drama of the swing bridge, always good to meet a challenge head on! My only advice to you is to enjoy each day you are given but I think you already known that! Take care. Another very enjoyable vlog Vince. I agree with you that a nice crisp autumn day (particularly with the changing colours over your way) can make you think it's the best time of the year. That swing bridge would have been a bit tricky to negotiate on your own. Oh and I love your good natured dry humour :)
Cheers Jeff! I suppose all the seasons have there own beauty mate! These canals weren't designed for single boaters, but I keep muddling on through it! Hope to see you next time!

Hi Vince, thanks again. Enjoyed watching 👀 another of your vlogs. What an adventure you are having. Beautiful scenery and a lovely bright day but you looked very cold. I think its time for winter woollies. I was half expecting the two dogs 🐕 on the swing bridge to jump on Aitch. Keep safe Vince. Love Babs. XXX
Glad you enjoyed it! Its hard work sometimes, but I'm loving it! You're right I was a bit cold, it must have noticed on the video! Yes the black dog was looking a bit impatient. Look after yourself and I'll see you next time xxx
Had a small slice of the life style mid October, Me and a pal had a week on the K&A from Bath to Bradford on Avon and back . Love the lifestyle and thoroughly enjoy your manner of vlogging so down to earth. By the way when you say reach at the clean out are the sinks that high 🤣
Thanks Stuart! I try not to put on any airs and graces. What you mentioned at the end, is probably the worst thing about boating. Don't think I'll will ever get used to that haha! See you next time!
Totally interesting again Vince and as you mentioned, the scenery at this time of year is beautiful. Also have noticed that you meet some very helpful people on your travels. Great stuff keep it coming..😉👍

Great video Vince and what a lovely part of the canal system. You were well wrapped up buddy so it must have been a bit nippy out there. Loved you new intro too. Keep the great content coming mate and take care.
Cheers Mark! I like it here, I've seen it on other vids, but it looks better in person, very nice! I think the standing still on the back of the boat made me feel the cold that day! Just trying to change things up a bit with the intro! Look after yourself mate and see you next time!
Hi Vince another great vlog Vince 🙂 The autumn scenery was amazing, the different colours of the trees against the clear blue sky was stunning, so beautiful 😍 Love the way you do the vlogs, just being yourself as you say walts & all with your funny little quips, it's natural & that's why they are liked so much so keep them coming & carry on as you are 😊 So glad you got help with the swing bridge, they should make it a bit easier especially for lone boaters. Such a shame about the poor deer though, hopefully it's been reported to the authorities & they can remove it 😔 Anyway Vince looking forward to your next one now, don't forget to sort out all those warm winter clothes as you did look very cold 🥶 lol 😆 Lots of love ❤ xxx
Thanks Pauline! Its nice to be living out amongst all that Autumnal scenery (A little cold sometimes) I'm too old to change now, I'm stuck with the warts and all haha! Poor Deer had a sad end, not nice to see! Glad you're liking the vids, and hope to see you soon love Vince xxx
I'm fine thanks Heidi. My Boat safety Cert. runs out on the 2nd Jan, and I've had a lot of work to do to get Aitch in shape! As most men are useless at multi tasking (I'm one of them haha!) I've been concentrating on that! I hope you and Jakki have a Merry Christmas love Vince xx

Hi Vince another great episode I like it and you won’t be getting rid of me any day soon. However your bit about the lock stairs made me look a bit of a prat to my wife. As soon as you mentioned Aztecs I paused the vid to tell my wife, sat opposite, of something I’d just learned. When I restarted I realised you were joking. So regard this as a kick in the comments 😂😂. You’re doing great mate 👍👍 William.

Refreshing to find a solo boaters channel, will be following you and catching up on all your other videos, I did the Aylesbury arm a couple of months ago on my own, now moored up in MK, yeh and the swing bridge is tricky, I waited for a kind rambler to help me.
I missed out on Aylesbury (Unlucky with the timing) Hope you enjoy the vids! I will be working my way up there (MK) slowly and hopefully the only surprises are nice ones. See you next time!
Hey Vince, just adding my voice to the well-wishers. Missing my regular fix of NC&L vlogs. I hope Aitch aces the cert exam and you get back to cruising. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Hello Vinnie! I should be back to normal soon (if you can call me normal haha) Thanks for wishing me well! Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!
Hi there!!! As you were approaching the service point and mentioned that it was past the next bridge I was saying no no no but you spotted it in time. That’s how good your vlog is it’s as if I were their, great to watch as usual, can’t wait for the next one take care.
Hello Vince, love the new channel branding, and your bird recognition skills are getting better!. As you went throgh and past the bridge, You could loosely tie off on the railing using your backline. Jump off, shut the gate, then pull the boat back to you, using the rope, jump on and you're off! You're getting further away from me all the time, will I ever get to crew for you? Take care mate, Jeff.
Nice to see you again mate! Them swing bridges are gonna be awkward however I do them on my own I reckon Jeff! I'm slowly but surely getting further away! You're welcome to crew for me anytime mate! Look after yourself Vin
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle I will crew for you one day Vince!!! The swing bridge method, I saw on a solo boaters vlog, poss, cruising the cut. Bit of climbing the railings, but it doe's work! take care. Jeff.
Hi Vincent, cruised past h at Marsworth. Had the same problem as well at the swing Bridge, I think that they may open on the offside so they didn't get in the way of the horses tow line, but it is difficult for us solo boaters
Thanks again Vince, always a pleasure watching your travels through that green and pleasant land. As you start to rug up for the winter, us colonials are getting ready for another long hot summer, what a contrast eh!
I'm ok thanks budbill, I've been busy getting Aitch ready for a boat safety examination! When that's done (fingers crossed) things should be back to normal! See you on the next one, Vince!
Enjoying watching your journey warts and all in H without a H 😁.. I used to fish at Cheddington as a kid it has a LOT more boats there now than it used to I guess narrowboats are more popular than they were 30odd years ago 🤔 on your journey you will find Leighton buzzard has a Tesco with a great canalside location for supplies, see you next time 👍
Glad that you are enjoying the warts and all journey! I will definitely check out that Tesco when I get there. I remember fishing in East London as a kid, and you never saw a boat. Nowadays they are moored 2 abreast and no room to fish! See you next time!
Totally enjoyable as usual. Are you staying on the canals through winter, or taking a break into a thingy wotsit - whoops forgot the word , but I'm sure you know what I mean ha ha
Another way to try swing bridges is to tie the bow line on to the bridge, cross the bridge and open it, then use the bow and centre lines to pull the boat through. Tie the stern line on to the bridge, close it, cross back over and hop on the boat.
Something is not adding up regarding the swing bridge, I don't know how CRT are getting the use of it passed H&S and there's not a proper boat landing either side of the bridge from the operations side. Anyway you did manage it and the walkers help closing helped, I was thinking before that as your cruising alone and not many boats ware moving about, you should take extra care jumping on & off the boat. Maybe wear a life vest that auto inflates if you slip into the drink, also a boarding ladder to make getting back onboard easier as trying to climb the canal bank wet will be near impossible. I was licking my lips seeing all those pubs passing by and me not having a pint of bitter for years, it's all lager here or canned Guinness at over a fiver a small can. Loved seeing the Autumn colours of the trees as you sailed by, it's such a nice time of the years to be cruising as long as the sun is getting through. Stay safe mate and thanks for posting.
I reckon CRT think everyone has crew with them! I've got big cumbersome life jackets on board, perhaps I should invest in a smaller self inflatable version. Its my favourite time of the year when the trees go to sleep and change colour on the way! Hope you are better, and out of bed. And I'll see you next time!
Just a thought re the swing bridges. How about a grappling hook on a long piece of rope when when you are on the wrong side you can pull the bridge back enough to hop on. Just a thought
Thanks Bob! Its an East London accent spoke a bit slower so people can understand it! "not a lot of people know that" I'm flattered if you think I sound a bit like Michael Caine (no relation) See you next time!

Cheers Lynette! Tell Hubby to train up for all the Locks he will be doing on his own, as he climbs up the Chiltern Hills (he'll be sick of the sight of them) xx
The canals looking even more impressive in there autumn coat. Thanks for including the little mishaps haha.Thank you for sharing Vince.
The canals and countryside are looking beautiful at the moment! Like I've always said, I'll show my journey warts and all. See you on the next one!
Good video . . . warts and all. really enjoyed it.
Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed it warts and all!
Another enjoyable vlog on the rigueurs of boat life. Thank you.
My pleasure Mega!
Hope you are ok. Looking forward to more videos of your travels.
I'm fine thanks Anthony! See you on the next one!
Another enjoyable vlog, cheers Vince
Glad you enjoyed it Mark!
We’ve seen them all Vince and love every one of them. You are funny and genuine and a joy to watch. We know this part of the GU well x
I appreciate you watching them all Sally! Glad you liked them. And thank you for the nice comments! Hope to see you next time x
Lovely autumn colours Vince, nice journey, see you next time.
Cheers Bob, I agree about the autumnal colours mate!
Totally interesting again Vince and as you mentioned, the scenery at this time of year is beautiful.
Also have noticed that you meet some very helpful people on your travels.
Great stuff keep it coming..😉👍
Cheers Paul! Its a lovely time of the year to be living out amongst the nature! Most people out here are friendly and helpful, which is nice. You probably see that when you are out in your motorhome! See you next time mate!
Amazing as always … you had me giggling at the ramblers comment 😂 So glad you are all moored up safely and your camera survived 😃 see you next time 😃
Thanks Heidi. I was lucky with the camera. (I think I will tie the tripod to the boat in the future) I'm probably number one on the Ramblers Associations hit list now haha! I am a silly old sod sometimes! See you next time Vin x
Hi Vince just watched it on our TV your video better then anything on Netflix at the moment! Love the autumn colours. Cheers mate 👍
Thanks for the nice comment! I appreciate it! See you next time!
Another great video sir, I think you do an amazing job solo, I’ve learnt alot from you for when I hopefully get my boat soon. Hope your well and safe
Thanks Stuart! I reckon that I will always be learning something new in this narrowboat game! You need to learn the basics, and take your time! That's a good tip to start with! See you next time!
Nice one 👍
Cheers Jason!
Hi Vince another great vlog Vince 🙂 The autumn scenery was amazing, the different colours of the trees against the clear blue sky was stunning, so beautiful 😍
Love the way you do the vlogs, just being yourself as you say walts & all with your funny little quips, it's natural & that's why they are liked so much so keep them coming & carry on as you are 😊 So glad you got help with the swing bridge, they should make it a bit easier especially for lone boaters. Such a shame about the poor deer though, hopefully it's been reported to the authorities & they can remove it 😔
Anyway Vince looking forward to your next one now, don't forget to sort out all those warm winter clothes as you did look very cold 🥶 lol 😆 Lots of love ❤ xxx
Cracking video Vince, cheers fella 👍🏼
Thank you very much! My pleasure!
Good video enjoyed it
Cheers Richard, glad you enjoyed it mate!
Great vlog. Thank you :)
My pleasure w b
Another great video 😀
Thanks Mrs Povey!
Miss you Vince, hope all is well xxx
I'm fine thanks Heidi. My Boat safety Cert. runs out on the 2nd Jan, and I've had a lot of work to do to get Aitch in shape! As most men are useless at multi tasking (I'm one of them haha!) I've been concentrating on that! I hope you and Jakki have a Merry Christmas love Vince xx
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle awww so glad all is well, we were chatting about you last night. I hope Aitch smashes the Boat Safety 😃 have a fabulous Christmas 🎅🏻
Fab as usual 😁😁😁
Thank you Robin!
Love your vids! So authentic
Thank you Sleepy Cat! I'm glad you think so!
Thanks William! Don't listen to what I say haha! It will get you in trouble!
The only Red lion pub on the canal is king's Langley drank there 45 yrs ago known by the. Locals as Dennis's pub he was a great guy
RIP Dennis. Nice easy video to watch cheers n beers Marty
I don't remember the names of the pubs in Kings Langley, but I remember it had a British Legion! See you next time Martin!
Another good one, well done.
Cheers! Glad you liked it!
Great vlog and cruise. What a beautiful canal.
Thank you, yes, its lovely here!
Enjoyed the trip, as usual, thanks for posting ☺
Unfortunately I can't subscribe any more because I've done it already....and loving it! ...lol...see you soon hopefully!
Glad you enjoyed it Norm! That's a shame or I would have asked you to Sub 10 more times haha!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle ... you know what, Vince? I would totally do it...lol
Another pleasant "warts' n' all" video. keep them coming please.
Cheers Dave, I will mate!
Hi there!!! As you were approaching the service point and mentioned that it was past the next bridge I was saying no no no but you spotted it in time. That’s how good your vlog is it’s as if I were their, great to watch as usual, can’t wait for the next one take care.
Thanks Geoff for the nice comment! I will have to study them guides a bit better me thinks! See you next time!
Take care mate,
Jeff.
Bit of climbing the railings, but it doe's work! take care. Jeff.
@@outandabout5247 Nice one Jeff! That vlog was probably Country House Gent mate!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle that was my other idea as to who it was!
Hi Vincent, cruised past h at Marsworth. Had the same problem as well at the swing Bridge, I think that they may open on the offside so they didn't get in the way of the horses tow line, but it is difficult for us solo boaters
That's probably why Steve! Shame I wasn't about you could have said hello!
Thanks again Vince, always a pleasure watching your travels through that green and pleasant land.
As you start to rug up for the winter, us colonials are getting ready for another long hot summer, what a contrast eh!
Cheers Mr Goodwrench! Enjoy the summer mate!
Spot on, great video
Thank you!
That was good sad about the dear ,that’s life though can t you push the bridge with the boat slowly or is that a silly thing to say thanks
No unfortunately! The bridge swung back towards me!
hey Vince are you ok mate? i am missing my usual fix of your great vlogs, hope to see you again soon.
I'm ok thanks budbill, I've been busy getting Aitch ready for a boat safety examination! When that's done (fingers crossed) things should be back to normal! See you on the next one, Vince!
Nice video Vince . I'm still subscribed even though you insulted me by saying i've no account for taste , ha ha . Keep em coming :-)
Haha! Thanks for sticking with me!
Lovely videos and great attitude. Subscribed.
Thank you very much!
Vince, thanks for all the entertaining Vlogs throughout the year.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year.
Gerry, N Ireland.
My pleasure Gerry! Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas too!
Thats the swing bridge I warned you about last time 😂
I should pay more attention Spence! Haha!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle 😂
I did see Aitch whilst you were moored in Marsworth. It’s a good place to be…especially off towpath.
@@spencehh Nice place, a bit windy near the reservoirs though!
hi vince keep it cranked on the cut thank four the good vids on your channel thanks lee
Cheers Lee, I will!
Glad you enjoyed it! I know what you mean. No I will be staying out here in the elements this winter!
I like your video ; ent your humor bay bay From holland
Glad you like the video Ben! See you next time!
That railway bridge, is in cheddington.
Thanks for the local knowledge!
Good stuff
Cheers Roy!
Another way to try swing bridges is to tie the bow line on to the bridge, cross the bridge and open it, then use the bow and centre lines to pull the boat through. Tie the stern line on to the bridge, close it, cross back over and hop on the boat.
I will take that onboard Merrylegs! I do like to try different ideas, then use the ones that suit me. Thank You!
Yea, Vince how's things things are turning here in Virginia. Going back to indiana some time Christmas thanks giving w/0 momma.
I'm fine thanks Lane! Look after yourself and good luck for the future!
Hey think I went past where you were moored the other day near LB?! I was heading the other way (South).
Best, Johny
Shame I didn't see you! I was probably out getting some stuff to get Aitch ready for an upcoming Boat Safety Examination! All the best Vince!
Just a thought re the swing bridges. How about a grappling hook on a long piece of rope when when you are on the wrong side you can pull the bridge back enough to hop on. Just a thought
That would probably work! But all the so called narrowboat experts would have a fit haha!
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle Sod em. They’re not there to help. 🤣
@@SPCK111 Haha! Yes you're probably right!
What a performance Vince. Well done with that swing bridge. BTW, I'm sue you've been asked before, but are you any relation to Michael Caine!? :)
Thanks Bob! Its an East London accent spoke a bit slower so people can understand it! "not a lot of people know that" I'm flattered if you think I sound a bit like Michael Caine (no relation) See you next time!
