For us who where at the Roskilde concert, right in front of the stage, this brings back strong memories and goosebumbs. The hair on my arms stands up and small tears appears in my eyes while a watch this amazing band do what they do best. F...... outstanding.
Some great passionate human beings there on stage, I know that it changed everyone in Pearl Jam that tragic day, right now listening to Eddie singing he's emotional 😢 I hope that never happens again to anyone!! I love Pearl Jam forever ❤️🤘💖 RIP THE NINE SOULS THAT DIED AND THE ONES THAT WERE INJURED 😇❤️🩹🌹
@@jacksidler649 Seems logical for people who don't speak a lick of English to go to a Pearl Jam concert. Not buying that, and even if that was the case people should have instructed those in their vicinity of the moment of silence. This seems purely to be a matter of rotten individuals not giving a flying fuck 🤦♂
Pearl Jam's 2000 European tour ended in tragedy on June 30, with an accident at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Nine fans were crushed underfoot and suffocated to death in the crowd. After numerous requests from Festival officials to stop playing, the band finally stopped and tried to have the crowd step back but it was already too late. The two remaining dates of the tour were canceled and members of the band contemplated retiring after this event.
That's not even remotely accurate. The security was being told for over 30 minutes of a major problem but no one knew what to do about it because there was no chain of command. The festival was terrified of massive lawsuits and blamed everyone but themselves. They even tried to claim that PJ were known for inciting violence in their crowds. Based on the report of 2 sisters trapped in the crowd, there were already 2 people down before PJ even took the stage. They told police this but later found out there statements has been altered. Stone took it especially hard as it happened on his side of the stage & he was the only member to visit with all of the families who had lost their boys
The guy who screamed outloud when he said a moment of silence.. Lets have a moment of silence for him and his parents.
Eddie: “Let’s have a moment of silence”
Crowd: *wOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEAHHHH!!! 😙🎶 🗣️*

I love it when Stone goes over to Eddie and touches his shoulder. Great moment ..
I remember this like yesterday
RIP the 9 of that tragic day.
stone is such a good friend! he's running that ship...
PJ is a class act....
amazing!...people can't understand what a moment of silence means, though...
Agree. You should have been able to hear a pin drop which is what the band wanted. Some people are such jackasses.
It’s possible they didn’t speak English

They're in Deutschland, and at a rock concert, I doubt half the crowd could understand English.
respect
There really needs to be an "awesome" button on TH-cam!
Amazing.
Simply amazing
THIS MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME 😢🩷🤘✌️
Mike, you are a truely a guitar god, this is simply amazing :-)

Impossible to have a moment of silence, always at least a few jerks who have to yell.
They were probably busy having a good time and wanted to hear some music
@@carlmarks8170 never an excuse
@@DeffoNotToucan Not an excuse, just reality...
@@carlmarks8170 doenst change the fact that they decided to be assholes and deliberately break the silence.

My understanding of the situation was that messages to the band to stop did not get through to them until it was too late
