New Years in Osaka, Japan!! [[December 2023]]

- Our trip to Osaka was the last leg of our whirlwind adventure to mainland Japan. We took the Shinkansen from Kyoto Station to Osaka. It’s only a 15 minute ride so not quick enough to get comfortable. We stayed in a shady AirBnB in Den Den Town but we only slept there so it didn’t matter! We walked around Den den town found a market we got some food at and explored the area around our airBnB the first day. We decided to go to dinner at Dotonburi Street but ended up not wanting to stand on lines for food so we found a short line at a place selling takoyaki. Mom and her food intolerances kept her from enjoy ANY foods on this trip and just got to watch the rest of the family try everything. We tried to go to the one gluten free vegan takoyaki place a few blocks away from Dotonburi but it has limited hours and we missed them! Day two we spent around the Osaka Tower, HEP Five Ferris Wheel and Umeda Sky Building ending the day at Kura Shushi. Day 3 (New Years day!) we spent at the Aquarium because it was a rainy morning. We got tickets at 10am with a Noon entry so we walked around the shops and got some food before going in. Once we entered the kids had a great time basically just watching the two whale sharks! We headed to a park nearby after the aquarium and climbed the second lowest mountain in Osaka, Mt Tenpō. We got a train back toward the hotel and stopped in Namba Parks to view the illuminations! 20 mph winds kept the crowds at bay otherwise I’m sure it would have been packed. We headed back to the hotel to get some sleep for our early morning to travel back home. We got to watch the New Years sunrise at airport and caught a beautiful rainbow as we lifted off.

wasnt it cold on december?
It was cold but sweatshirt and fleece, gloves and hats and we were good. I think it may have been upper 30s (°F) and 40-50s (°F) during the day
