    3rd patch is amazing! Great video

    love how in the augmented strings the slow 3/8th rhythm is layered with the fast 1/16th trance gate-y things

    While I would like to see more FX on this one, this seems really neat. A lot of modern plugin development is more about UI than new audio processing, and personally I never really liked the way obvious comparisons like Infiltrator or Shaperbox behaved. But I do usually like the way Arturia does things, so I'm rather excited to try this one out.
    I'd also like to say, I'm absolutely in love with that first patch and the piano melody, it's so beautifully haunting I could listen to it for ages

      what don't you like about the behavior of Infiltrator and Shaperbox?

    • @Raven_DemandDystopia
      @Raven_DemandDystopia ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fatribz They are great plugins, it's just that their workflow isn't exactly aligned with how I like to do things, it's more abstract but sometimes stuff clicks and sometimes it doesn't.

    DEMO should be downloaded through Arturia webpage directly. Can not be done within ASC. I just intalled and check it later how it works on my beats. Anyway thanks for this video. I wanted different walkthorough with different genre of music more that Arturia official channel.

    Did they change the UI of Shaperbox?

    • @daen446
      @daen446 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahah exactly my thoughts

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      it's a different plugin
      idk, I keep seeing lots of people call it shaperbox
      yeah it has msegs, lots of plugins do now, are there similarities? sure
      is it a clone of shaperbox? no not at all, there's a lot of things each can do that the other can't
      but I guess in the plugin world, we only look at superficial overlap, and just assume everything is a reskin

      Aah !

      @@DataBroth Well, 5 out of the 6 tabs appear to be exact equivalents of Shaperbox main functionality, I don't think it's out of the way to notice. "A variety of custom motions and modulation" you say in the review, well that's Shaperbox exactly. No direct equivalent of TimeShaper here, but "Repeat" seems to serve a similar overall purpose. Nothing wrong with any of that, but it's pertinent for those like me who are fans of Arturia and also own Shaperbox.

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  ปีที่แล้ว +3

       @SongOfItself its fine to compare, but I see most people don't compare, they are implying that it is a ripoff
      the person I replied to said "did they change UI", they didn't address any of the differences.
      I don't mind people comparing, the issue is the implication that this is just a clone.
      I see this a lot with new plugins, "it's just this" or "it's just a reskin" or "doesn't do anything X doesn't do"
      when the reality is that there are differences alongside the similarities
      not a big deal to compare, I can see the relation, but it's important to compare differences alongside similaritie

    Any features that stood out to you that the competition doesn't have/do , or does better?

  • @adamwetterhan
    @adamwetterhan ปีที่แล้ว

    Finding this a very useful tool. I dont understand why they wont allow you to assign modulation to the "repsat" sequencer rate. I love how Arturia keeps.movong.further and further into semi modular territory, so it bugs me when something that useful can't be routed. I mentioned it to them on IG and will continue to do so

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, I understand, they seem to limit some modulation routings, I've found routings available on previous software that aren't available on the newer ones. as a preset designer it is an interesting limitation, but as a user of these tools it can feel arbitrary.
      I wonder where the future of arturia is headed, I had a dream recently where pigments would grow into something more similar to phaseplant. Who knows maybe at some point they will make these changes, but for now they offer more than what was previously available, which is interesting.

    • @adamwetterhan
      @adamwetterhan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DataBroth love the dream! I haven't used phaseplant but I've taken a look at it, do you envision something like a) as many engines as you wish, or copies of engines, b) even more flexible routing? I'd be on board for that.
      Separately, and I realize there could be a better place to ask you this question - but are you aware of any other VSTs that include these kind of complex embedded polymetric sequencers (which allow lanes of varying lengths) that Pigments features, and that arturia just implemented in ACID V? Getting a lot of mileage out of both sequencers, and I am already routing midi out from them to other instruments but curious who else is in this space and not seeing a ton other than Reaktor's shift sequencer from Blocks Primes, which I love.
      edit: AFTER writing the above I found your website which is deep with reviews and includes a sequencer section, but still interested in your thoughts to both questions above if oyu have time

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamwetterhan I'll think about polymetric sequencing some more, maybe even write an article going over various options I'm aware of, but the first two that come to mind are HY-RPE2 and DrumComputer

    Man this thing looks awesome! I love plugins like this, the multiband option is a nice addition. Does it have a dark mode? Ive noticed a bunch of their plugins lately have super bright interfaces. Lol

    • @DataBroth
      @DataBroth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah no dark mode unfortunately
      I was a bit surprised to see they went with white again
      maybe with time there will be updates or new plugins with darker interfaces again

    • @dirg3music
      @dirg3music ปีที่แล้ว

      @DataBroth ahhh thats a bummer, one I'm willing to deal with tho. I felt the same way with the augmented series, all very white interfaces. Still looks fantastic, definitely not friendly for those who make music at night time. Lmao

    don't know... somehow i think this could have been more.
    I don't really see the innovation in this one.
    Somehow feels like they ripped the Synth engine out of Pigments and try to sell it as a new Multieffect.
