Yes, I'm a bushcrafter. I truly enjoy the scandi grind edge. Soooo many times I would like to have it ,but it is inappropriate to have a fixed blade on my hip. This. . . . . . .Well, I'm gonna find out. Thanks for showing this one.
Very similar to the Vosteed Grind. Differences - this has washers and gimping on the spine. I don't know if all scandi's are this way, but the edge on the Vosteed is so sharp, it's the one knife I don't fidget with - it's that sharp.
I like it. Vosteed had the grind which is an excellent knife. I know the finn wolf by cold steel and even the kizer pinch is scandi. Thanks for letting me know about this. I'm interested 😊
Mine rolled the edge IMEDIATELY carving soft wood with some torsional pressure applied. After giving it a run over a diamond stone and a VERY SLIGHT convexing of the edge its been really good. I suspect, like most, that Real Steel runs their 14C28N a little too soft and the overall dimensions of tbe blade and how thin the stock is makes it much less stable but well see how it holds up. I have an okd D2 fixed blade of theirs from years ago and while it has a tiny chip in the blade its thicker stock and its still incredibly sharp with only a minimal resharpening in the many years Ive owned it.
I just picked up my first Realsteel knife recently after taking a look at another model the "Metamorph" I bought a "Gslip" with a D2 blade and brown canvas micarta handle instead, its been working as a folding steak knife. It has been deployed against 3 different steaks and it easily prevailed against each of them so far.
It looks great. But the few reviews on Amazon seem to point at heat treat (or burned edge?) issues. A shame, this is something i'd buy. Now i have to wait for more tests
the edge is for soft woods, not hard woods. Edge angle is 7deg per side, for a total of 14deg. I think they fixed the frailty of the edge in the fixed blade version, which is 13deg per side, for a total of 26deg. When I got it, I thought it was 14deg per side, not included haha. To make the edge more durable, you need to convex the edge, which is what I did to mine. I would still not use it as hard as the fixed blade version - I'd love to see an iteration with an improved thumbstud, canvas green micarta, 13deg per side scandi grind and thicker scales (like 1/8" thicker per scale).
Just got the last blue one off Amazon and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how it operates. Thank you for advertising this. They still have the green ones and brown ones on Amazon and the price really was decent.
I recently purchased a Real Steel Sidus that is as small as I like to go with a blade just under 4inches. It wasn’t centered which is disappointing and it has some stick when closing but it came very sharp. They definitely put a good edge on their knives.
I have this.. its good but due to the thin high scandi grind, the edge is too weak.. just doing a single chest lever cut and the edge bent, not chipped, but bent... if i use it more, i'm sure it will chipped...
Very nicely done yet again M_C, and nice to see Real Steel still knocking out the same quality that I started to appreciate them for . Stay safe and healthy brother and as always keep them loved ones safe🫵😘👍
A true scandi with cut wood better then other grinds. Alot of scandis are not true scandi grinds though. They usually have micro bevels or slightly convexed. But this knife is awsome! I want.
Helle knives from Norway (i.e Scandinavia) has a whole range of scandi-grind folders. I've used mine as my fishing/small hiking knife for two years now. Perfectly suited to gut a fish or make decent fire sticks.
Cold steel should make exactly this with the triad lock with their griv-ex and aus-10 or 4116 at a budget price. I predict it would be well received from the bushcraft community
The only Real Steel in 14c28n I've ever had was horrible, would have been better off with 7cr it was so soft! Literally 4ft of cardboard the edge would roll
Before the Invention of Bearings , the Chinese Knife Company's where almost Dead because their Tolerances Suck and their knives action were Horrible 🤭 , The Bearing Saved Chinese Pocket Knife Manufacturers . How can you known as a knife guy and not bush craft …..LMAO…In my neck of the woods , you wouldn’t be considered a “real” knife guy if you don’t, bushcraft , survival or farm, but… it’s knowledge and experience that make you a knife guy…lol… I like the knife…it’s a good review MC! … I do take your opinion on knives seriously… like I said experience and knowledge is the register!

and scandi edge is the most easiest grind to sharpened btw 😊

Learn to sharpen a scandi grind and you will not get a dulling of the blade. Your technique will eventually dull the edge.
Hillknives Holland also do a couple of 'hybrid' scandi-grind folders.

I like a scandi grind although I am not really a bushcrafter. They work well. I really like Vosteed's scandi folder, The Grind.
I wanted that one but couldn't find it anywhere, then I heard they had heat-treat issues with some of the blades. Hopefully they bring it back!

@@jamesl2950 thanks for the details. That changes things

Can you do a knife video comparison between the Fin Wolf and this knife please?
Excellent, I'm really happy to see another scandi folder!
Very nicely done yet again M_C, and nice to see Real Steel still knocking out the same quality that I started to appreciate them for . Stay safe and healthy brother and as always keep them loved ones safe🫵😘👍
It looks like there might be a secondary micro bevel?
Amazing Video and Content as Usual!!
I was recently thinking to myself…. Why don’t more knife makers do a folding scandi? I’d like to see more entries into this application.

Damn those level 100 bushlords. 😆
That's a lot bigger than I thought from other videos. Thanks MC

I will have to wait a bit. Some of the reviews are not exactly stunning right now.
Are any complaints about blade chipping?
Ooooooooh this is right up my alley now. Hopefully the ship international
+1 for bronze washers. Especially if you want to use this on wood as well as typical EDC stuff.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Bearings work just fine and most of you would never know the difference.
MC, are most omega springs pretty much the same? Except of course mini vs full size?
Unfortunately it has awful reviews by owners on Amazon for blade performance and longevity.
I love that design architecture. Give me a version in Ti and I’m going to make a purchase.
I love phosphor bronze for my daily and heavy use knives. When bearings go bad, they go real bad.
Cold steel should make exactly this with the triad lock with their griv-ex and aus-10 or 4116 at a budget price. I predict it would be well received from the bushcraft community
This would make an excellent camp folder!
it looks like it has a secondary bevel ...
I feel like I’ve read that people have had issues with blade chipping on this knife. Can anyone confirm if this is an issue or not?
14c28n is one of the last steels that should be chipping, that’s definitely concerning
Congrats MC. I like the Chiefs too even though I live in IN.
It almost looks like it has a micro bevel?
Looks like it has a tiny micro bevel , most scandis come with one .
Give it to me in magnacut with the thumb stud issue fixed and I'm a buyer.
The only Real Steel in 14c28n I've ever had was horrible, would have been better off with 7cr it was so soft! Literally 4ft of cardboard the edge would roll
The handle looks super comfortable
Do not forget the TOPS Scandi folder.
It kind of has a rockstead vibe
i'm a level 10 Bush Lord
Your Amazon affiliate link did not work. Took me to a generic search page.
Fixed 👍
Honestly I hate when the clip is mounted like that it always seems to be a hot spot for me
Love the micarta
I love this knife !
This one is very interesting.
Good carving knife.
How’s the baby?
total rockstead vibes
The blade looks like that expensive knife you broke the tip off on
Bushlord!
That's called a Tesla ! Lol. Specifically the awesome P100D
It’s a folding Pukko
Why can't Vosteed do another run with the Grind? This time in 14c28n please! Just don't love this Real Steel or my Finn Wolf.
Enzo has been making Scandi folders forever Spyderco made a folding Puuko for a while as well
Looks like it's got a lot of negative reviews about the blade.
Pretty bold of you to review this knife when you're not even a bush lord
I am naturally immune to bushlord criticism. Selected it as a starting trait 👍
@@metal_complex lol I'd hope so since I bet you've never even seen a bush before
Nice
Why do you sound like Inland Auditing Media? Hmmmm are you the same guy?
Looks like a folding morakniv, scandi is the easiest grind ever to sharpen. Angle finder built in......
After blowing my knife budget for February already, and maybe March... Should I be happy or sad that the Amazon link doesn't get me to this knife?!?
Update... Link works too well now...
That knife looks 4 months pregnant.

A folding bushcraft is just befuddling. A big edc? Ok. A knife for treks through the woods? Sure.
