Thanks for the detailed guidelines and well-explained tutorial on UV mapping in Zbrush. The best informative tutorial on UV mapping in Zbrush I came across so far.

You're Welcome. Not a lot of people use it, it's in dire need of a overall. Keep wishing for a update on it. If they do that, it keep people in Zbrush instead of jumping around to other programs with better UV systems.

thanks for the tutorial. I export the model to an OBJ with UVs form ZBrush to Blender and fix UVs much faster. Blender is really good for this kind of work.

    thank you!
I'm trying to do UVs for Substance Painter, and i'm having trouble with meshes over 50k points (takes forever/freezes). Auv works fast... but then i can see the triangles... do you by any chance have any suggestions?

Zbrush struggles with higher poly models using UV Master. I'd suggest maybe breaking up your model a bit into subtools then UV them with UV Master separately. You could merge the models back together after UV'ing them or use FBX Plugin and export with each Subtool as a Material set for Substance Painter.

so: i have to always keep my subdivisions and work with clean topology all the time IF i want to uv map later? i got a model with high poly but i feel like it was a waste because i cant do shit with it now, except renders.

What is your End Game with this Model. If you're trying to get into a Game Engine, you'll need the low res UV model with the High Res info Baked/Projected into it. Same goes with setting it up for Rigging for animation in Maya. Don't feel like you're wasting your time with high poly sculpt, that's generally how things start, get your design nailed down and then create the clean UV'D model for Animation and Game Engine. It's a pain to go through all the retopology and UVing again because of a Design Change.

@@Glenn3D1993 want to use it in unity. its a human body with 1.4m points and poly paint, no subdivision levels. i experimented with projecting on a low poly with higher subdiv levels but the polypaint gets glitchy. is the poly paint lost or is there a way to transfer it on a new low poly mesh? EDIT: AY i got it, the projection got messy because i had the eyeballs and mouth on when i pressed morph target!
