17 years agency nurse , no manager , can take vacation anytime you want , no politics,,y ou can choose where or when you want to work you earned more like nurse manager , without the stress of managing a unit,, just saved money good for a year in case you get sick ,

Thanks for this Deo,as an agency nurse if there is a procedure you cannot do or have forgotten how to do it because you don’t do it regularly in your unit is it ok to ask the ward nurses for help?Cause I read somewhere that an agency nurse was reported to the nmc because she asked a nurse how to change a drainage tube!

Absolutely not, except you went for an area you are not competent in. For example you cannot be an icu nurse and do not know how to care for an intubated patient or respiratory nurse and not know how to care for a patient with a tracheotomy.
Agency nurses do not know if all but before starting off you need to be atleast 80-90 percent ready.
If she was reported then she might have shown so many flaws…which shouldn’t be.

One rule here in the uk, do not do it if you are not trained/competent. Always ask for help, but definitely ask wisely… you can’t be paid more and do nothing, It’s unfair.

Hi praise, yes you can if you do not require visa sponsorship or the agency is willing to sponsor your visa.
