Our economic demise isn't helped by spending 6 mil per day on grown men who are not refugees, while people sit tin the safe legal route camps, because there's no room.
I suggest you read the bill, because this is a very strong bill, the stronges thus far.
And if you want them to keep coming you take them in your town, because I bet my right arm you haven't had your hotels taken over.

Whether this plan will work in practicality is, I suspect, a side issue. I am of the opinion that this is electioneering. Traditionally pro migrant supporters tend towards being socialist and less likely to vote Conservative than anti migrant supporters who traditionally tend more towards Conservatism. By having a "hard line" on migrants the Conservatives are likely to pick up many votes from the floating or middle ground in a similar manner to the way UKIP picked up votes that ultimately led to the Brexit referendum.

Not granting asylum to migrants entering the US illegally has allowed the US to deport them & making it illegal for them to attempt in the future. Mainly Haitains & Cubans attempt via boats to enter Florida illegally. The Dry Tortugas in south Florida has seen a huge increase in asylum seekers. Luckily , the Coast Guard picks them up & deported them. The new rule of Haitains & Cubans having to apply for asylum from their home countries & find a sponsor have aided in keeping the numbers down.

Why not work with the French to target the people smugglers/criminals? Give them long prison sentences and massive fines for sending people across the channel in these flimsy boats. Give them manslaughter charges where applicable. In another news report a mole said that the people smugglers/criminals operate from the UK side, they live and have assets around the UK. At a high level, here is where I would 'start' (to handle actual Refugees; admittedly addressing the challenge of economic migrants is a different kettle of fish):
      - Put proper processing back in place in the UK to start clear the backlogs and figure out which are valid refugees and which are not. Prioritise processing of refugees from countries where the UK has a 'complicated' history that has contributed to the state of those countries (e.g. Iraq, Afghanistan being the obvious examples).
      - Put proper application routes back in place so that refugees don't feel they have no choice but to default to small boats
      - Incentivise use of the proper routes, maybe do things like allowing refugees who come through those routes to legitimately (paying tax where relevant, getting workers rights protections etc..) to work in the sectors where the UK is already issuing visa's (i.e. no one can claim they are stealing UK jobs etc....). Good for refugees and the UK (more integration into society, puts less burden on the state, helps businesses deal with worker shortages following Covid & Brexit). Inherently disincentivises not following the legal routes.
      - Tactically, do more things like refurbishing/repurposing of old MOD facilities and other defunct government facilities as processing centres (until the backlog is managed down); would require some investment but would be good for local economies (which are typically in need of it following the closure of MOD facilities).

      Simple
Step 1. Stop being a nation that profits from arms, since our arms trafficking directly causes refugees needing to flee.
Step 2. Pay reparations to the countries around the world that still suffer the scars of the empire, and that we still profit from their exploitation, which causes many of the situations that cause people to flee to safer places.
Step 3. Provide safe routes from france (and elsewhere) for people to apply for asylum
Step 4. Provide a viable immigration system that recognises migration for economic, or social need is a fundamental human right
Step 5. Rejoin the EU, and join Schengen
Step 6. Stop worrying about immigration because its not a problem.

We have huge housing, doctor, dentist, schools eff shortages, prohibitively long hospital waiting lists and are billions in debt + facing recession. People who live in Britain now cannot cope. 6 million +++ a day would massively help our NHS. If Austrailia can do it legally WHY ffs can we not?

Countries should be able to protect their borders
The UK is not against Immigration, we are against illegal immigrants, jumping the queue of all those legally trying to emigrate to a safer country.
Personally I'm against letting all these boats full of , mostly men of fighting age, turning up on the beaches and disappearing into our country and not giving anything back to our country but taking everything they can get.
UK used to be a good place to live but not anymore
Our NHS is underfunded and overstretched already, it has been getting worse each year, we dont have the infrastructure, jobs, housing, or money for benefits for illegal immigrants.
There is more crime, less community, and life in general is getting harder.
Allowing anyone that turns up on UK beaches illegally ( app 1000 a day ) into the UK is just going to make life harder and harder, we simply can no longer afford to let this keep happening.

@@andrewq159's not, refugees who choose to enter the UK by small boat, do so because there are no safe and look legal routes open to them. The reasons they come to the UK are because of:-
-A connection with the UK due to our previous empire.
-speaking English as a second language.
      -relatives already in the UK.
We have a short fall of over a million people for work in the fields etc. It's why our food is rotting in the fields. The health service is broken etc. We have an aging population with fewer working age people paying into the pension pot which is now going broke. So you won't have a state pension or welfare system in a few years. You will be back to Victorian levels of poverty in the UK. Allowing regularised immigration will cure and prevent your downfall not cause it. The reason the majority of boat people are young men is because it is a dangerous journey and they hope to bring their families in by legal routes if they can find a way to settle here.

We need to operate a daily ferry service from Calais and Dunkirk so that refugees to come into the UK safely and securely.
This Tory government is far too cruel to people who have fled from war torn countries, slavery and systemic persecution. We are a wealthy country, we have the space and resources to help others. The people need to vote for Starmer for a government that is compassionate!

I'm an American in Saranda, Albania until the end of April. It's very pretty here; it's peaceful and the locals are friendly and helpful. Come June, this town, on the Albanian Riviera mind you, will be full of cruise ships and even more tourists. Tirana, the capital, is also a pretty cool place.

For those who respect democracy, then respect the democratic will of the people to end illegal immigration. These people entering the UK illegally should be returned to their home country. If they are in France (which they all are) then they are not in peril.

Still until now it is allowed to enter the UK and apply for Asylum or a temp. Protections status. Then authorities can decide to allow or decline the request. This decision be fought in court.

Anybody seeking to come to the UK should do it legally and not illegally. They need to apply from the safe country there coming from. The reason they dont is there doing just that leaving France a none war torn country to seek free housing and benefits and free health care also free schools, free meals, bills paid also spending money etc. All at the expense of the British tax payers. The UK system cant handle the numbers. There has to be an end to the illegal boat crossings.

Sunak needs to declare a state of emergency to tackle this outrage. This would mean suspecting all international protocols and outlawing courts and lawyers trying to benefit these migrants. Then crack on with mass deportations to rwanda and elsewhere enforced by our armed forces.
