I love that people like Wiz that are actually using the new sombra as if nothing really changed, unlike Wiz I see people choosing to complain about the new sombra instead of get used to her again
The way I look at it, Sombra has lost so much defense - instant teleport to chosen location, gone, faking someone out by throwing translocator but not taking it, gone, 5 seconds hack ability lockout duration preventing burst-damage/CC, gone. Maybe the nerf to her detection range belongs on permanent invis, but not on 5-second invis. Lowering the detection radius back to the original would open more possibilities to position for hack/EMP and make the limited time you have to set up more worthwhile. To give Sombra a little defense back in this version of her, I thought of some possible buffs to hack, with the basic idea of using hack to divert energy from enemy systems to Sombra. Since she likes to have the latest tech, by now she surely knows Zarya's secrets: A successful hack on enemy or BOB (+torb turret?) gives Sombra a purple-glowing energy shield in a body outline instead of bubble, giving her temporary HP, that decrease translocator cooldown when lost. For example hack could give a 15 HP shield lasting 3 seconds, each 1 HP of the shield lost during this 4 seconds decreases translocator cooldown by 0.1 seconds up to a max of 1.5 seconds. Then maybe EMP gives the same bonus but stacked per enemy hit, for 75 HP if you EMP 5 players, max 105HP including BOB + Torb Turret. Refunding up to 7.5/10.5 seconds of TL cooldown, you could theoretically throw TL > EMP > take ~50 dmg instantly, throw TL, take another 50 dmg and TL again. This reward would make EMP in the middle of the enemy team less suicidal.
Old translocator was indeed really fun. I also really like Sombra as an ult/ability denier rather than as a stealthy assassin both to play and to play against. Even now, EMP is such a beautiful ult conceptually.
Sombra mains would just be biased cause all they play is sombra. Even this dude in the video is biased even tho he's trying not to be he can't escape the fact that he's human and naturally will be biased. I think nobody will ever agree on anything, and sombra will ALWAYS be annoying and unfun just because of her kit.
@@stray6164 yes. I’m a doom main. I understand having my hero be nerfed to hell because of people complaining. And generally, it’s justified. In sombras case, more than ever it is justified. Calling them bad is not an argument. Low ranked players still matter bud.

nah casuals hate the hack not the stealth. She can have all the stealth she wants as long as they make the hack take skill. Harshen the tracking requirements and make it hard for lower level players to do successfully.
@SombraWizard But, a lot of times, these casuals were already going to press their abilities, but when they do, they notice how nothing happens. And it's even worse when they are mid ult and get it shut down by a sombra that didn't even have to hit a skill shot or anything, just look in their direction pressing a button with a short cooldown. I'm not a sombra hater. I'm actually currently a sombra main. But my point is that people hate her mostly because of hack
ive got an idea for a sombra rework. (keep in mind im plat so its prolly bad) 1. stealth on a resource meter, which get refilled by health packs 2. make her gun shoot slower but stronger 3. replace virus with the ability to disguise herself 4. give her an melee attack that insta kills from the back 5. make her french mon dieu! A RED SPY IS THE BASE
Honestly if they replaced stealth with the ability to disguise yourself as someone but kept all the S6 version of her I feel like that would be amazing. Teeko had this in League the small amount of time I played her it felt amazing. The strategic depth of being able to disguise yourself as ANYONE, friend or foe added so much. The problem with perma invis with such a small detection radius is that there's nothing you can do about it. it's exactly the same as getting one shot by widow from across the map. you dont see it coming til it's too late whether you know there's a Sombra or Widow in play or not.
I feel like we will need to have workshop people go and actually make all of these changes and try to see what makes the most sense. Because as of right now we have a ton of different theories with a lot of different opinions. We need some practical testing to really work these ideas out.
i think hack and virus just need to be combined, turning hack into a skill shot that damages and temporarily hacks a target. and if hack/virus hits a health pack it hacks it. think virus but with hacks effects added on. that way you get stealth and translocator on seperate cd's. and combine two otherwise useless abilities.
One other thing, let us ping opportunist enemies. Obviously a nerfed version of a hacked enemy being pinged, but like just a 1 second icon that shows where the low hp hero was when it was pinged, it feels so weird and i am constantly pinging walls trying to ping the low hp enemy
The changes are noticeable and it’s hard to stay in the fight without waiting out all of stealth. I have a feeling they’ll revert it next season (with some tweaks) so widow has more of a chance this season since she has the mythic, but that’s just me guessing and coping lol

I love your suggestions here. It makes tank bullying less effective and gameplay more smooth.
Thoughts on removing the TP/unstealth voicelines? Virus is a mixed bag for me personally, even with OG sombra we had a bit of trouble dealing with oneshot/high dps chars like hanzo but the DoT made that a lot more manageable; while virus can be bloat to her kit that kinda flipped the sombra/hanzo interaction among others Perma invis, while im ok with that going, was part of what allowed sombra to feel like a 'mastermind' character imo, more about the information than anything
Before the Virus rework i had an idea of two stage hack where if you hold hack for (arbitrary) 0.3 sec an enemy gets revealed and Sombra gets damage boost against them and if you keep hacking for additional 0.8 sec they get silenced; and you don't need to hack up to stage two hack in one go, you can stage one hack first and then stage two hack later. This way hack is more reliable in a sense that you easier get at least some value (vision and dmg boost) and a stage one hacked player is more aware of the possible silence coming. Additionally stage one hack can spread like a virus from one enemy to another if they stand close enough for long enough, discouraging grouping up and isolating targets for Sombra to capitalize Also, don't like that even the tiniest bit of damage can cancel hack (happy about the uninterruptable stealth), so i wanted to make it more reliable by changing it so damage doesn't cancel it but instead prolongs, for example let's say hack takes 1 sec but if you take 100 dmg it now requires you to hold it for 2 sec. This way you either choose to keep hacking hoping you'll get it off before dying or leave before finishing the hack
Funny enough i believe the reason why they made hack cancel stealth was cause if you went for it previously then virus there was a brief delay for that so there was that no fluid sequence there so but i love sombra and im very surpised you didnt like th3 virus rework change cause to me it made her more fun having a skillshot having a setup instead of being kinda just hackbot mainly for tank, but this rework is not bad definitely needs improvement i do think if they fave sombra 230 hp that probably be a perfect window 2. Im surprised no one said anything on her stealth speed i think it should go a very tiny bit up maybe 5 or 10% that way you can reach areas much faster without needing to use your trans as much or save it when you really need it and 3. For emp i thought of something different where if you emp a team now they can adjust the emp damage if they want but i thought maybe for every kill specifically sombra gets it resets her trans cooldown that way it adds that skill ceiling and reward for getting a kill or i like the overhealth idea someone mentioned. BUT this is my thing is her identity she's the mastermind hacker she should be hacking in her kit whether its her the environment something 2. Shes supposed to be sneaky like in her cinematic she was hiding in plain sight and 3 she is a assassin like character.
9:54 a "take"...? Bro is disconnected from the general community, its always been stealth that is actually hated, mfs in iron ranks dont even notice the cd block
In a vacuum, I wonder about the idea of combining Virus and the Opportunist effect? Instead of the virus dealing damage, it instead gives Sombra a temporary damage increase on that "virus'd" target. This could leave Hack to be more as an interrupt for a mid-fight, and less of engagement tool (this could also increase the skill ceiling by making the silence something that needs to be timed increasingly well, or as a response to something being poorly timed by the enemy team). This also makes EMP more unique by contrast, as it "shows off" the increased ability lockout duration that Hack would possess less of.
10:00 false, sombras issue is shes the single most broken hero in low ranks into any hero who relies on their abilities, which limits her potential in higher ranks. I sware the overwatch community, especially high ranks are just to high on their own sht, have yall never played another shooter? Invis exists in like every shooter ever, and majority of players while maybe not the biggest fans of it, deal with it, the only other game ive ever seen invis be a massive issue was the finals because when it was good, the entire lobby was lights running around invis wity 1 shot shotguns which even than it was the shotgun and how they nerfed it was mostly by nerfing the shotgun because invis is never annoying on its own, its onoy annoying if you gotta face it all the time or when it enables something like a 1 shot or in sombras case an auto aim ability snatcher... So if the issue is that sombra is to easy to execute with in low ranks, than the solution is to inject skill while buffing her overall power, so just make hack a skill shot! Its so simple!!! Just make it so if you wanna insta win against supports you gotta actually land the ability that shuts them off, because we all know supports arent the most mechanically gifted, let alone gold supports, and we also know support is a role that often gets flamed because they get taken out first which makes them the target if the teams fustations which is why the devs try and make supports op, and how they make supports op is through their abilities, which is why supports seem so utterly broken yet in lower ranks they still complain because it doesnt matter how many things you shove into kiri or baps kit to make them op, when i as sombra can just with my eyes closed, shut their abilities off and than kill them before the hack duration is even half way over. Now obviously invis is still problematic, but thats just sombeas issue, she was designed to be as annoying as possible where all her abilities piss everyone off, like if hack doesnt annoy you, invis will, if invis doesnt annoy you, hack will, if neither of those annoy you, the fact she can flank and delete you instantly will annoy you, if non of that annoys you than maybe the fact she has a better reaper and d.va ult will annoy you or maybe the wall hacks she used to have, maybe its the dots... not a single part of her kit is fine except maybe the movement but even tracer and genji annoy people because they're so slippery. Just a poorly designed hero but whenever you make one of those, you either gotta keep em terrible luke junkrat moira and bastion or you make them super skillful so when they do annoy people, they can at least say its skullful like tracer and her mosquito playstyle, kiri and her ability to never die if she is aware of her surroundings with her cds, or ana being able to sleep you, or widow and her 1 shot that takes crazy aim skill to pull off reliably, all these heros have alot of game knowledge skill like sombra, probably more tbh, while also having tons of mechanical skill unlike sombra so while sombra maybe is skillful, is she skillful enough to outweigh how bloody annoying she is? Because that is the real question, plus flanks are supposed to be inherently harder to play as flanks have the most power over a match, just like how supports hold their entire teams together, flanks are the heros that kill them which is why the devs are always making supports easier and flanks tougher, and i know genji mains will tell thats false, and their hero is garbage but genji isnt garbage, hes just so skillful to counterbalance the fact he can reset his dash upon kills and anyone who can figure out how to use that to its fullest potential inna match, is gonna win that match, so most people just can't make him constent enough to feel useful, and thats how sombra should be if not even more so, and if sombra gets this treatment where the second she isnt easy to abuse the game with, we gotta worry about her than make genji easier and more consistent too.
I firmly believe that it's not so much that her silence is the problem, especially since Sombra has existed for a while in OW. I personally think the problem is more that she very easily makes someone feel "useless". Hack AND Virus being waaaay too easy to land without the need for aim is unbelievably stupid and coupled with the fact that she can easily engage/disengage makes it all that much worse. Hacking someone in this game where there isn't as much CC along with landing an easy as hell Virus makes that char useless in a team fight until they can get heals.
I respect that you enjoy sombra, but for every one sombra player there are hundreds of players game experience ruined by the terrible hero design. Sombra is a cool hero. Cool look and voice lines, skins, all of it. She just isn't fun to play with or against. With her you are down a man and against her she is stalking your healers. Nobody in these comments is in top 500. The game itself doesn't deserve that type of time investment. This is a casual game and sombra ruins that experience. Ruins it. That is just the truth. I hope they leave her in the dumpster and I am sure the majority of players share this same opinion.
Sombra is my most played character, by a very wide margin. I do think both hack and stealth are unhealthy for the game. Denying abilities(except in an ult) is not good. Forget about skill expression. And invisibility really shouldn't exist in a FPS. [CC and "one-shots" either.] I would rework her and remove both and replace with alternatives. Yes, changing her "identity". However, I feel it would be best for everyone. I've played every version of Sombra. I like the "lore" aspect of her, but not the mechanics created to display it. Loved listening to the discussion between you and Spilo. Love hearing Questron's opinions too. I realize my opinion will not be popular, but it's mine.
Alot of kinds of fps exist, what makes overwatch stand out is the unique hero kits, just like you can say "stealth doesnt belong in this game" i can say "speedboost doesnt belong in this game " its not a good logic to follow
@@SombraWizard You can make a unique kit without using invisibility. I don't think any FPS has ever done it successfully. Because, it's near impossible to balance. It also infuriates players. Overwatch games are full of ridiculous visuals. It's like going to a disco at times when all the abilities and ults are going off. And in the middle of that, is an invisible player you have to worry about. It's easy to understand why the "average" person hates Sombra. And even though, I may not hate it. And you may not hate it. We do have to live in a world where people WANT to play the game. It's frustrating to get hacked or attacked from an invisible character. Reaper, who can phase shift and teleport is much less frustrating to play against. Infinitely, less frustrating.
Its also "frustrating" to get hindered, cleansed, immortality, pulled, two tapped, shielded, etc etc, i told you - your logic is flawed, you cannot use that argument Theres only 3 states that matter Weak- balanced-overpowered
@@SombraWizard Which is why I stated most of those things shouldn't exist either. Blizzard has a long list of mistakes they've made with their characters. Sombra is going on EIGHT years old. One of the biggest game makers in the world has YET to get her right. So, we can keep playing with numbers, repeating the same mistake over and over. OR, you can actually perform a "REMAKE" and change things. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results doesn't work. That's "FLAWED LOGIC". You are discarding my opinion, simply because you like Sombra's hack and stealth gameplay. Which is fine, but there's no need to be toxic about it. I like her gameplay, at times, too. But I am willing to try something different in an effort to make her less frustrating to play against for the "average player" because I believe they are right. She's not fun to play against. A skilled Sombra can be a nightmare to play against. I'd also remake Widow, Hog, Orisa and Mauga.
@@LateCloserWhy shouldn’t they exist? Because they’re frustrating? That’s not a good enough reason. There will always be something frustrating in every game but the question isn’t whether it’s frustrating or not, it’s whether it’s balanced or not. Removing most of the things that make characters unique would be taking away a part of Overwatch’s identity, this game isn’t only about aim, it’s also about game sense, if a character uses an ability it’s your job to find a work around in the moment.
Guys, objectively Sombra was abused for things she wasn't meant for! WHY is this not mentioned? The problem was that a swap to Sombra was for fast regroup, joining the fight quick again, safe easy last second touches! This just ignores Sombra's identity and playstyle (LAME!)! all these problems came bc Sombra had too much MS in stealth! just reduce the Movement speed to only 10-20% max in perma stealth only so Sombra isn't overtuned! Sombra is a nice assassin good BUT REMOVE ALL the other BS aspects! actually the rework is good for the game rn! Sombra can't be abused for completely different reasons! The only sad thing is that Sombra can't stop a Widow anymore but this can be easily fixed! She has a problem to set up right? too slow! just increase the MS to 70% now! she can quickly run up to Widow in 5 seconds now and her stealth CD still requires for Sombra to have a lot of skill expression! The rework should remain and the perma stealth should NEVER come back again! setting up for an eternity is NOT balanced! SPILO and Sombrawizard are correct with the hack though! Hacking should not get you out of invis! This completely takes away the timing of hacking! just as mentioned in the video hacking can almost only eclusively be used towards the end of your invis time so you have your Translocator again for a safe disengage! PS: I think that hack and virus have to be used in certain ways now! one of the two CDs has to be saved in the back pocket if a Widow is on the enemy team! I love that you can mark two enemies! I don't like removing the virus!
This is great Sombrawizard so important we have people like you who are still passionate about their heroes

Like someone said on another video: just combine Virus and Hack to make it a skill shot.
Just play call of duty tbh
Its also "frustrating" to get hindered, cleansed, immortality, pulled, two tapped, shielded, etc etc, i told you - your logic is flawed, you cannot use that argument
Theres only 3 states that matter
Weak- balanced-overpowered
